We keep a few garlic heads from the July harvest and plant each clove in October, never have to buy any. We grow a Spanish type, Mahogany, and Music varieties.
I bought garlic from Costco and it started to sprout in the bag within a week, so hubby and I took the ones that sprouted, and I had a couple big bins that I container garden in, and planted them. Currently I have about 40 heads of garlic growing!! We are so excited to see how they grow!
Thanks Pete B.! Thanks for showing your soil amendment again and thanks for the garlic planting tips. I have just been getting ready to plant garlic, too, but I'm pretty new at it, with a few non-successful attempts before. God bless.
From the Elysian Fields!!! Great channel for Texas gardeners! One question! Where in the world did you get mushroom compost in North Texas. I need a boat load!
I am in North Central TX about an hour from Ft Worth. Just found your channel, loving it. Wondering where you get your seeds for your garden at? Would love to try them. Thanks sir
We cut the tops and roots off the garlic when we harvest them and put them in an open box inside the house were it's air conditioned. We tried keeping them out side in the breeze in the past but they ended up rotting because it's just too humid here in the summer and fall.

Can I plant garlics with onions?
You could grow them next to each other.
