The interviewers would not focus on his achievements but needle him with questions on why he did not get right with the most critical part of the country development: race relations, corruption, cronies, broken education system, east Malaysian complaint of unfulfilled promises and the deplorable condition of the orang asli. I think Mathathir would never be happy with what he has achieved; thus, his attempt to cling to power and try to erase his failures even though he is very close to his grave. Contrast this with Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew. Every one who had interviewed LKY was in awe of this man. There was no hint of his failures but only his successes.
