Dude wanted to say your review is spot on!! I have the 8ft and two 7 1/2 ft rods. For a total of 3 .they are one of the best $100 trout rod for what you get. I love these rods They cast an 1/ 8oz spinning lures like a dream with no effort. I pair it with a okuma ceymar 30 or Shimano Sustain 1000 FA. 4 or 6 lb test spolled with pline moss green cxx just awesome!
I recommend when there available to buy one you won't regret it
I have a Guide Select 9' 6wt fly that I have fished a lot in the past 15 years. It's awesome.
Just picked this up from Okuma via Amazon….$106 bucks + tax and it is amazing!!! A flick of the wrist will send your ULbait 30-40 feet …..super feel in the tip yet plenty of backbone . Teamed mine up with a Shimano Sahara 1000….wicked
This part number is GSP-S-762UL. But amazon shows GSP-S-762L as the part number. Are these the same rods?
I have the ultralight, the model number you see is a light. It must’ve been taken off the selection at some point, but the light would work awesome as well
Absolutely Love your videos. Your enthusiasm is contageous and your reviews are honest and thorough. I picked up the Okuma GSP Ultralight on your recommendation and WOW am I glad. I'm using it for Crappie and not only is it a blast to fish with but it is a tough little rod. I Paired it with a Phlueger President XT 30 (they're small reels), 4 lb Mr. Crappie line and it casts the smallest crappie jigs a mile. Thank you for this excellent recommendation! Appreciate your good work!

Hello Humbug, you nailed it right on the head, I waited two months for that rod on sale 20% off at FishUSA, I am glad I did, plus I did break an Elixir too LOL, I caught a lot trout already on the Okuma, good backbone too, I have an old Stradic 2500 mainly use it for mini jigging.👊🎣👍

For what I'd consider trout rods I generally would want something under 6 feet - preferably way under like 4 - 5'6" and a 500 to 1500 size reel. Like here you are at 4:00 - I'd never want more than a 5'6" unless I was fly fishing. Lake fishing deep water or fishing for monsters would be about the only exception.
Everyone has their preferences of course, but if you want to specifically target and land larger trout a long rod is one of the biggest factors in my opinion. Light baits, rivers, picky bites, many things are made easier

It would work well, I just wouldn’t use below a medium fast

How does this rod compare too a TFO Trout & Panfish rod? Both are in the same price range but the TFO seams to be the more popular rod in the Trout / Ultra light rod.
This rod is leagues ahead of the TFO rod still. The TFO rod is really nice, but not as nice as this one

Yah it should be the UL, not the L! I’m sure the L is a fantastic rod, but the one I have is the UL. I’ll have to change that, thank you!

@@humbugvideos now i need to fine a reel for it, are your reels high gearing ratio for faster line retrieve? Does it matter trout fishing?
@@fishbait007 I don’t think of gear ratio very much with trout, most spinning reels are pretty much the same anyway. Check out my gear reviews playlist and there’s tons of good ones in there👍🏽

Interesting lure weight ratings for an ultralight...my normal Celilo starts at 1/32oz. Would love to buy this rod but that's holding me back.

Alot of people use these for mini jigging 1/32 and 1/16 just ignore that rating

What size/weight reel is a good fit for this rod?
I’d pick a 1000 size reel, but for whatever fish your chasing you should change accordingly!
I purchased the 7ft 6in Okuma Guide Select Pro GSP-S-761UL Ultralight Power/Moderate Fast Action 1/8oz-1/2oz (one piece) after watching your video. This blank is unbelievable, I have caught so many landlocked salmon on it. I highly recommend this rod. Does not seem like too many other rod builders offer this config, I found one but they want $400. Paired with 1000 Shimano.
