My brother and I, aswell as 2 of our friends, recently got back into MESBG. Now all 4 of us are hooked and meet up for beers and huge 4-way battles once a month. I really enjoy the comradery and the social aspect of it, anytime you can lose and still have a great time and feel like there's things you can take away from the game and learn from - you're on a good thing.
I bought a Mumak because I just wanted to paint one, now I find myself owner of the Pelennor Fields box and the box set of Eowyn and Merry. I'll figure out list-building some other time. I liked this video. It's nice to know a GW starter set has two solid armies in it.
I played this other day and omg best tabletop out there in my mind. So balanced and even a good build can loose. Rarely do i see meta gaming unlike in 40k and AoS. I also find the community better
would be super cool if You'd be able to create guides where to start collecting different armies not to be disappointed. Personally im into Angmar, but every faction would be interesting ;)
Hey Jacob, not sure if this is a dumb question but can warriors of Erebor take both shields and spears at the same time? I know there's an upgrade available in their stat block but there doesn't seem to be any model not holding a spear in two hands in this kit. Keep up the great content and thanks for all the advice!
I have the original Fellowship of the Ring kit. Several friends and I played in high school and custom painted everything from goblins to the Balrog. Now, we're all getting ready to teach our sons for a 2nd generation of strategists! My 9y.o. is hooked (on simple rules, just goblins vs. elves for now)! Great video, thanks for the info
To be honest. If I want to try play Middle Earth SBG, now after almost 20 years since I started with Warhammer and having a bit of a falling out the recent 10 years: I would definitly utilize the miniatures from North Star from their Oathmark Line! I'm getting so much 'Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings'-vibes from their Goblin miniatures! Love 'em!
Another tip is to pick a starter army that doesn’t involve to many colours. The first set i bought was Thorin’s company and it was not the best idea. I was only able to paint them by borrowing my friend’s paints.
I recently discovered your channel and I am really loving your content. I was wondering if you will ever do a video on Battle Companies? I think its a fantastic skirmish game and a perfect way to start collecting an MESBG army. Do you have much experience with it? any "tier list"" for certain battle companies (I hear some consistent opinions, but I would like to hear what you consider to be properties of a good/bad battle company)?
The supplements comes in 2 versions. 1 is with scenarios and so on, the 2. Containing only new profiles and legendary legions (the later is free downloadable from gw)
I decided to start this also. I aquired some Serpent Horde Commanders, a box of Haradrim Warriors and just because I loved the model, a Mumak of Harad. I was always fascinated by Haradrim.
I played age of sigmar a few years ago but I forgot everything. I would like to make a new start in middle earth. I am in love with the movies but I don´t know how to build an army, what does it need to consist of? Can i pick caracters from different kindes? I realy liked the Mordor figures but i also really like the figuers out of the halls of Thranduil. But can I put Gandalf with elfs? How does it work? and wich army do you think is the best for a beginner in middle earth?
anything with that much armour can be primed with a metalic primer so you need less coats. and uruks are dirty muddy boys so make heavy use of brown washes and shades, lighten the skin with an orangeish brown and the leather with a tan colour. maybe even dry brush the raised edges with silver to make them look sharper.
@@ConquestCreations It would be awesome if they do. Although the biggest barrier seems to be that-GW don't sell MESBG minis 😅 after being convinced to try it out thanks to great content creators like yourself, I learned that GW don't even list the (new) faction I'm interested in.
Me and my friend want to start him being good, me evil. I was thinking Rhun but they don't have many models. Can you mix up factions? Could I for example, spash in some Harad or Umbar?
I want to start a moria army and I bought the Balrog and I would like to play it in a 500 hundred army points. What else should I buy to complete my army ?
At the moment the new edition is about to come out so absolutely avoid all the books for now. You can use websites such as Tabletop Admiral to get all the rules
Play Mordor and just keep track of your wraith to model ratio. As you find things that perform better, adjust the numbers accordingly until your army matches your playstyle and luck averages.
I am an Age of Sigmar player but i was wondering if i could start playing middle earth too without spending a big amount of money. Do u suggest to start with this box (not only for the convenient price but also for updated rules), maybe sharing it with a friend? Are the minis in the box good for building up competitive armies later? I do not know how it works for Middle earth, but in AoS it can happen that a specific army is not so competitive or a big additional investment is required :)
Hey mate, I talk about this in the video. I absolutely recomend the Pellanor fields box set. It is a very solid start, both the good army and the evil army can be very competitive with very little added to them I talk exactly about what I recomend adding in the video
Great video! I like building terrain and dioramas, and my and my kids love LOTR...I'm a total newbie on Strategy games but would like to start...what two armies (good & evil) would you recommend I get so that i can start playing with my children? I guess i will be the bad ones.....thanks !
I would definitely recomend the Battle of Osgiliath. It gives you two great starting armies that you can build on, as well as a decent amount of terrain. All you need to do is add a couple more heroes and you have two full armies
I've just got into ME SBG and have a question which I hope someone will see. Does fight value come into play any time other than a drawn duel roll? I can't see any other reference to it in the rules but given the emphasis people seem to put on it I feel like I must be missing something?
No, but fight value is still very important. When having two heroes going against each other, you are possibly rolling 2-4 dice, so getting a six is very likely. If that doesn’t come up, it’s very common that people will spend might to increase that roll to a six. So if you don’t have the fight value, then loosing a fight is more of an issue. Does that make sense?
@@adrianneumann5867 that makes sense thank you. I've just started playing so I suppose I just haven't come across situations where fight values importance is obvious. I've only had a couple of games so far and they've been quite simple so I can get used to the rules so haven't had any hero v hero battles like in your example. One of the scenarios I played all the units had the same FV as well so draws went straight to 50:50 roll offs which made FV seem a bit pointless but I'll keep an eye on it as I play more and games get a a bit more detailed.

Its the best GW game witht the fewest players. Once people get into it/get past some of the lame models they are hooked.

Yes, this is just the updated version. It’s the same game at its core.
