I like the versatility of this faction. The pds's let you turtle up and sit back activating your own systems, or the cruisers can go on offensive very early like turn 1 and attack opponent's slice, or you can even try to grab mecatol turn 1.
I think Transit Diodes are very powerfull with The Titans. The Hell-Titan are treated as both a structure and a ground force. They cannot be transported, but Transit Diodes removes ground forces and places them somewhere else. Your Mechs trigger when you place the Hell-titans. which gives you the ability to recycle the Hell-Titans form world you don't need anymore and you get a lot back aswell.
I like the thought of getting formidable ground forces for free by a primary Constructions strategy card (Edit: I mean being able to switch out a pds construction for an infantry and much ((mech ability)) ). Titans seem to be able to get a bunch of stuff for free/reduced cost (especially with sarween tools and not to mention that commander, omg). There seems to be a few strategies one could pick for this absolute unit of a faction. I would argue for one technology- hyper metabolism would be a good one to grab, getting that extra Command token each turn can really help ease the pain of activating your systems for sleeper tokens and producing with your Hel Titans as the game progresses. Great review! I don't play these guys enough!
Getting the expansion next week. Have waited till retirement to begin the arduous task of learning this game. Aiming to be a 3rd as knowledgeable as yourself.
Thank you very much. Nico loves to interrupt me when I record, so I decided to start including his bloopers at the ends of videos he interrupts. He's very photogenic. :)
It has a production of 1 so if it's the only thing giving you production on a particular planet and you produce there, you can only produce 1 unit. So in your example, you would only produce 1 infantry and the other one would be lost. However, if your PDS is on a planet with more production from other things like a space dock, then you can add all of that production together. ;)
Hi Kaptain, great content as usual! I believe your expertise can help me with a couple of doubts that came to mind, most likely because I don't know how to coordinate the general rules with the non-omega special abilities / units of each faction... 1) Bacterial Weapon X-89: in case it's used against Hel-Titans, is it correct to consider them like infantry (and therefore wipe them out) or like structures (which are then not affected by the biological assault)? The issue I have also stems from the fact that, if a space battle takes place in the activated system, then as PDS the Hel-Titans should prevent units from bombarding... but this seems not to be the case if BW X-89 is being used, as the tech card exclusively refers to the mere ability to bombard a unit has (not the actual bombardment action). Should that be the correct interpretation, Hel-Titans could then fire at the orbiting spaceships but if at least one of them with bombardment capabilites survives and the opposing faction has developed BW X-89, then it's game over for all the Hel-Titans on the ground... The omega tech card is in this regard easier to interpret, at it clearly states that bombardment must occur and at least an infantry unit must be destroyed to "contaminate" and kill all the others... but in that case the PDS-aspect of the Hel-Titans totally prevents any bombarment unless the enemy shows up with a War Sun. However, there's also a non rules-related semantic catch: how can a bacterial weapon be effective against a ground unit that is essentialy not a living biological being but rather a machine in the first place? 🙂 2) L1Z1X Mindnet's assimilate ability: let's imagine they win a ground battle and conquer a Titans pupulated planet - in order to do this, they obviously need to wipe out the infantries/PDSs... but by doing so, at the end they will never be able to replace any previously existing PDS with any of their own. This somehow seems to diminish the efficiency of the Mindnet's special ability... or am I wrong on this count? Thanks a lot for your attention, I hope I brought up topics that might relevant when discussing advanced strategies for this incredibly deep game!
1) The main thing here is that while the Hel-Titan is considered a "ground force" it is not considered "infantry" and therefore would not be killed by the X-89 in either form. Hope this helps. 😁 2) You are completely correct in this. The Hel-Titan will fight to the bitter end and cannot, therefore be assimilated. There are lots of situations like this where a particular faction ability is weaker when facing certain opponents. Thanks for the comment/questions, I hope I was able to help. Game on!
Hi there, i have been watching all your videos, great content ! xd A bit unrelated question but wasnt sure where to post it and you might know the answer. If i move to opponents system, and lets say i fight of their fleet, but i have no ground forces with me, so i cannot commit to invasion, so in a way i control the system but not the planets, does the enemy use this system cards as normal? As in can they spend resources of those planets or are those blockades like the production building would be blockadeD?
Page 8 of the rules reference booklet has the answer. In short, the only thing Blockading stops is the production of ships. The player can still produce ground troops and use their planet cards. I hope this helped. :)
@@TheBoardGameKaptain Hi! thanks for reply, and so prompt as well :D. Yeh, i wasnt sure about that rule as it mainly talks about dock production i think but doesnt say about spending planet cards. But its good to know for sure now :)
@@TheBoardGameKaptain I came across your channel today and really enjoyed the factions videos :) had to subscribe haha. I only played the game 3 times with 3 people and had the most fun with barony of letnev for the epic fights i had during the game. Gonna play this saturday again with 3 other people. I hope my friends will enjoy it more as 4 so we I can bring the game more often to the table :)
If you would rate all the factions in order of complexity or learning curve, how would you rate them? Asking for a friend who wants to get into ti. I already recommended the Sardakk and the Federation but want your advice/opinion.
That would take some time to consider and possibly a whole video unto itself. I may do that in the future. If I do, I'll definitely give you a shoutout for the idea.
@craftsmenMC I've thought about it and I'm definitely going to do a video on this topic. I'll do it as a Grokking Twilight Imperium video after I've finished with all the faction deep dives. I will be giving you a shoutout in the video for giving me the idea of course. Thanks again.

Can the PDS produce one or two infantry? How do it work since you build 2 infantry for 1 resource? Do you just build one?
