- In a late-season matchup, Eddie Jones, legendary coach John Chaney and the eighth-ranked Temple Owls, travel southeast to face Grant Hill (who was honored prior to the game, with his jersey retirement) and the second-ranked Duke Blue Devils.
Game played on Sunday, February 27, 1994 at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.

She arrived early [only a few students had filed in] and I got her autograph and a hug.

This Temple team was ranked in the Top 10 much of the season but it was pretty clear here they were outclassed by a true Top 10 team. Temple was tough and hard-nosed and played great defense but had only 3 guys on the entire roster who could score.
If they could have ever gotten consistency from Cunningham it would have helped. IU and Knight picked apart their defense in that second round matchup in the East. IU had three senior guards sho could all snipe from the outside, along with Evans and Henderson drawing attention down low. I loved this Temple team. But three guys scoring can only go so far.
As a Temple alum I'm not sure we'll ever see our bball program be as consistently good to great as it was under Chaney. The 1994 team was likely our most talented with Jones and Mckie leading the way. Unfortunately, we lost to Indiana in the second round of the tournament that year. We've been solid under Dunphy but have failed to reach the second week of the tournament. There's also been a few ugly seasons along the way.
