      What do you usually eat in your meal?

    • @bigt2k24
      @bigt2k24 3 роки тому +3

      Usually saltine crackers(4 to 5 cracker a day), tuna in a pouch(half a pouch a day), a whole kiwi, half a cucumber, a whole apple, half a banana, lots of spring mix, strawberries(5 to 6 a day), any lean meats(1 or 2oz), trail mix of nuts(one hand full), green tea (2 cup a day). That's basically all i use. Not all at once. I cut out sweet/sugary drinks and any sweet food completely. Im pretty strict on my diet so I do calories count too. Somedays I only consume 300cal lowest. Somedays I will consume up to 800 highest so far. I have never go pass 1000 calories. Alot of people will say it's bad but I'm used to it. Don't recommend if you can't handle it. Drink loads of water. Hopefully this help out(:

      I've had a prior stroke! Thank God, it was mild! And, I am NOT going to check with my doctor! I want to see change before I would have a worse stroke, which is more debilitating, than this one! Besides, I am a Christian, if I die, I am a winner either way! Heaven, and all it's glory awaits! We have waited for years for the answer. Imagine to think I am better off obese! Lol! A lot of doctors will tell you they can not support your decision. Who needs approval! We live in the land of the free, home of the brave. I have did the last 2 days just starting 22:2 just giving myself 2 hours to eat no ill effects. I had some success with fasting back years ago when on Atkins, and I recognized the longer I went I was seeing the pounds fall off nicely. I want to hit my goal that I set this time. And I didn't set but a goal of 60 pounds to start. If I reach that goal, and all is well. May work on a new goal. Don't want it to seem unattainable. I did like reading on this site about the person who ate whatever they wanted and lost 120 pounds in a year. My body wouldn't be that cooperative, it will be work for me. I am sure I am insulin resistant. There's scripture that Jesus said, this kind cometh through with prayer and fasting. No better time to pray, to see that success 🙏!

    For anyone struggling with OMAD, try this tip. When u feel REALLY hungry and it becomes uncomfortable, try inhaling deeply and holding your breath. Do this repeatedly until you start feeling better. It will help get you through those short periods where you feel like ur starving. To me, it helps because when u take in a lot of air, it kind of feels like you've put something in ur stomach and it eases the feeling of being empty. As soon as you exhale, the discomfort comes back but inhaling repeatedly and holding your breath each time will reduce the discomfort.

    • @Antisocialmedias
      @Antisocialmedias 2 роки тому +3

      @@EEEBA1 Even with OMAD u have to keep the daily calories below 2,000 or you will stay at your weight or gain weight. Even doing that, for me, weight loss is very slow. I think what you are eating will affect how fast you lose weight too. For instance, nutritionists say that healthy protiens and fats will promote weight loss but still, I think relying on diet alone is going to be a slow process for anyone. Only way to speed things up is to exercise. Personally, I like to walk with hand weights. I created my own fairly intense routine for the hand weights. I also walk while maintaining a brisk pace. The hand weights help I think, especially with toning your arms, shoulders and chest but the main thing I think is walking or some kind of daily exercise you can commit to. Hiking is good too. Jogging is obviously great too but I dont personally like jogging. Its important, I think, to do an activity you can enjoy and commit to. If ur living a sedentary or low activity level lifestyle, its still gonna be hard to lose a lot of weight with OMAD unless ur consuming way less calories a day than 2,000. Me personally, I was able to lose 20 lbs in less than 2 months with OMAD but thats ONLY with daily walking. The longer and more frequent and intense you make your walks, the faster you will lose weight. OMAD itself isnt the best way to lose weight but its a great way to keep yourself from gaining weight without giving up your favorite foods but again, its all about your calorie intake. Eat more than 2,000 per day over a period time without exercising and you will gain weight.

    Understand that going and speaking to your doctor (talking general practitioners here) about diet is usually a waste of time as it is not their specialty and usually they spout outdated information that they gleaned from their med school days and have not kept up in their research on this specific subject.

      @@christinesarracino6537 Mineral Water (not purely soda which is just water with added co2!) has a high content of essential minerals including sodium, calcium and magnesium and it's well known that it has great benefits for the whole body in medicinal purposes. Most of all, it's been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of ailments.. including migraines. However, it depends on the TYPE and it's contents. In a 100 km zone from where I live there are plenty of such places where you can get natural mineral water to drink. The downside is that you can't really store it for long time and you NEEd to know the problem and then make a choice.
      Magnesium deficiency is a well known cause for migraines and natural mineral water high in magnesium will help.
      In the country I live in, military doctors are usually the best trained ones and most sought out after because of the military regimen style :).

      @s Y there are lot of new researchs and lots of debates on how ones should view ldl as one of biomarkers for overall health results, but not be all end all in itself. For Some people , long fasting lifestyle like Omad or prolonged or alternated day fasting tends to make ldl rise, combining fasting with low carb regiment and your ldl will skyrocket but everything else is normal. You have to decide for yourself at this point, do medical checkup and look for every bio markers.
      I will continue to do omad as long as the other marker like blood pressure , HbA1c level , triglycerides and hdl levels continues to be at its optimal level.and I do checkup every years.

    I do stir fry veggies once a week to avoid veggies deteriorating in the fridge. I eat twice a day, once at 2 pm and then at 7 pm with a small snack of nuts and dried fruit at 8 pm. Thank you so much, Dr Chan.
    I’m healthy, not fit but not overweight (have never counted calories in my life) & am not on medication. I started 16/8 last year, not to lose weight but because I feel very lethargic in my old age despite good general health and doing Taichi.
    And I found that with eating 2 small meals (usually 2 eggs, hot water, coffee & fruit as brunch & then rice, greens & fish/nuts with water/green tea later) instead of 3 traditional meals, energises me. Well, I thought, if eating less food can energise me well just by doing 16/8 every day, then, maybe I should try omad a few times in future for better health & longevity. After all, I sleep well and still fall asleep at times in the afternoon despite having enough sleep & in fact, a good rest at night - sleeping very early & waking up very early.
    After listening to you, I think not! Thank you. 😊🙏

    I found myself eating only one meal a day for the past month. After recovering in August from not struggling to eat due to stress for 10 months, I began rock climbing and 2 weeks into exercising, I ate a big breakfast without feeling nauseated. I almost cried from happiness because in January I was forcing a granola bar down with a glass of water, and that was my meal for the day. But after that one magical breakfast, I noticed that I was finally able to eat again and stop losing weight. I tried my best to eat three meals a day at consistent hours to retrain my healthy habits, but after finding a new job I only eat the free 6" sub I get every shift. I'm not too worried about nutrition because my subs include a ton of fresh veggies and protein, and I snack on the leftover fries, but I'm not sure if this is causing any issues for my health. I'm researching it and finding a ton of contradicting evidence in regards to the effects these habits have on my health. I just wanna know if I should be making a greater effort to eat regularly, or if it's alright to have just one fulfilling meal around dinner time (and a midnight snack 4/7 days of the week)

    OMAD is actually sustainable as long as you focus on hitting your protein goals. Protein rich foods are usually so satisting that it woulf leave you full or satiated for at least 8 hours. You sleep off 8hrs so that leaves you with just around 4 to 7 hrs of beinh 'hungry'. Which you can delay a little more by drinking coffee or tea or water.

    As far as being healthy, I feel that for me doing omad is freeing. I love only preparing one meal a day. Its so much easier planning for that meal. Even when going out to dinner I only allow myself a small indulgence during the meal. Its balanced with protein, slow carbs and healthy fats. My only issue with this is taking my vitamins. Its hard on an empty stomach and if I take them at dinner then Im awake for hours. But I am healthier and happier and my blood work is perfect plus I sleep 8 hours a night and drink water all day. Before I was 40 pounds too heavy blood work was bad and I was moody, slept irregular hours and ate way too much sugar. Had to take fiber pills and lots of medicine. Im slowly coming off my medicine and Im down almost 20 pounds. I will be sticking with this way of eating. My whole family is benefiting from it too.They eat better and are more aware of the foods they consume now too. Is it a life style I will continue to do, most likely.

Goal is 200 but I'm setting my targets at 10 lbs increments, so now I'm gonna try to get to 240 and so on. That seems more do-able for my mentality. I wouldn't consider what I'm doing as OMAD. It's more like 2MAD kinda. No breakfast, drink water or coffee with creamer to help with hunger. Around lunch time I have this peanut butter power shake thing with Expresso or a higher calorie coffee or protein shake. Then I make dinner after work and eat an actual meal around 5 or 6pm. Got decaf coffee cause it was helpful with hunger so that i can drink it more regularly without caffeine keeping me up.

    I didn't think that weight loss alone should be the primary reason for following an OMAD plan.
    However, by practicing OMAD I realize that the regular dietary practices in "western-like" societies makes us eat more than we actually need, leading to food addiction, weight gain and disease.
    One needs to consider a middle way, by observing our body, what we eat, constantly learn/adapt and be open minded about pursuing health rather than a specific lifestyle. This is what being a "mindful eater" means to me.
    Fast paced, "robot-like", modern lifestyles can make following a healthy OMAD a challenge because we may not have time to attend to this new lifestyle change (following OMAD safely).
    In summary, OMAD is a healthy and very liberating practice that requires balanced nutrition, continuous learning and self monitoring.

    I have been eating one meal a day for over 2 years now. Not because I was looking for a diet but because I feel better eating one meal a day. After a while your body will adjust and you will only get hungry around the time you eat your daily meal. There are even days where I dont eat a single thing at all because I don't notice that I am hungry. This is not healthy for everyone but because I am over weight my body has fat which is simply stored energy that our bodies use when we do not consume the amount of energy (food) it requires to function. Note that if you plan on eating only once a day for an extended period of time you should take daily vitamins/supplements. Although you don't need food to survive if you have body fat, not giving your body the vitamins and nutrients it needs to maintain good health will lead to deficiencies which over time will cause health complications. In our society (America) since we are children we are taught that we need to eat three meals a day to be healthy when in reality most Americans who eat three meals a day are overweight because the food that is readily available to us is often high in calories and low in nutritional value. To be healthy and eat three meals every day you either need to always be conscious of your calorie/nutrition intake for every meal you eat or you need to get multiple hours of exercise every day and personally I think it is much easier to adapt your body to eating less frequently and then only eating when you body tells you that you need food.

    If you are ever curious if you can ask your doctor about nutritional advice or even exercise it is pretty simple. Do they say breakfast is important? If so, move on. Are they fat? If so, move on. Are they lean/muscular - try and figure out why. Do they reach for metformin before talking about what your relationship is with exercise and food..... MOVE ON! Form matches function, just be observant.

    I’ve been on for two weeks and am down 17. I need to loose 50 before surgery. I think I can make it.

    Started intermittent fast for 2 weeks ago and crp from 14 to 6.9. On cimzia and methotrexate. Feel better when I fast. Then ketogenic diet. Only lost 1.5 kilos. I started for both crp and weight. I would like to be on Omad but I am not sure I should yet. I only eat nutrient dense foods.

    I'm on day 3 of OMAD. First day I went without food until 1pm. Second day 2pm; 3rd day 3:30 PM. So far I haven't had any trouble at all making it to my meal. Felt a little hungry today around 1:30, then went to run errands and forgot about it. I'm also doing low carb. Have I just been lucky and the hunger is about to hit really bad????? My goal is to just eat at dinner time with my husband.

    I have been doing intermittent fasting for a month now, but only lost 2lbs weight. So, I am on a life long journey, I feel. Purpose is to reduce just reaching for food out of habit. Must be doing something wrong because other people seem to loose a lot of weight.

      Have your doctor give you a blood test for pre-diabetes, sound like you have insulin resistance from it, metformin might be in order

    There is no money in us being healthy and I've had a doctor tell me to my face that they don't even study nutrition so why would I check with them? How is eating one meal a day worse than binging on junk every day? I learned long ago that doctor's don't know everything by a long shot and if I'm going to die, I'd rather do it myself than let them do it and have to pay them for it too, lol!! It's working for me better than ANYTHING any doctor has suggested. I will take my chances with IF/OMAD.
