    In this lesson, you will learn what fractions really mean. We will decompose any given fraction into a multiplication problem and and an addition problem that involve smaller fractions. For example, the fraction 3/8 can be rewritten as 3 times the fraction 1/8. This can also be written as 1/8 + 1/8 + 1/8. We will explore the meaning of fractions and use the concept of multiplying fractions frequently in this lesson. In addition, we will use the concept of adding fractions to illustrate the idea. In the future, when the student considers any given fraction, they should now be able to see what the fraction really means in terms of multiplication and addition.

    Wish I would have had him as a math instructor. One of the few who teaches for deep conceptual understanding rather than rote procedures. Excellent pedagogy!

    I have never been good at math. I loved math a loot but i had big problems with focus and memory. No matter how hard life no matter how difficult it is for me to concentrate, I am challenging myself with the most difficulty because its the only way to progress. Im 16yr studying Electronic engeeniering. So i must learn Math and physics. You help me a lot with your tutors. I will progress or nothing.

      That is a big discrepancy there. You are not alone. I feel the same way ; I love something but I am not quite capable to grasp it. But that doesn't mean it is impossible to do. It's not so much about how intelligent you might be but perseverance is the answer. I think that's the characteristic of a successful person.

Low self esteem covered me. demoralized me.But never killed me. my childhood is gone.I never had a happy childhood. But i think there is hope. It dosent mean i cant repair myself. There is not to late. Or BETTER LATE, THAN NEVER

    Hi professor, thank you for your teaching but I was expecting you to tell a fraction is a part of a total and a total is no part of a pizza instead is a part of a full circle, part of a meter, part of a kilo etc or I am wrong?

  • @hemarajue2736
    @hemarajue2736 3 роки тому

    In fact better visualization of the fractions.
    The whole numbers can't include the fractions but the rational fractions do. For e.g if someone ask you,is 2/1 is a whole number or a fraction?, you may tempt to say, after simplifying, it is a whole number. But it is a rational number. Right?
    The differences are all along our way. We differ in views, opinions, knowledge, experience, culture and so on. One simple way to cope up with it is to either like or dislike and not necessarily argue with.

    Sir what do you mean by fractions

    • @norvigosracing6948
      @norvigosracing6948 3 роки тому

      A fraction is a number and top and on bottom separated by a horizontal line. The number on the bottom below has been given the name "denominator" and the number above the horizontal line is called the numerator. So if a pizza is CUT into 12 pieces you have a denominator of 12. If you ATE 2 pieces of the pizza, you have ate the 3/12. Fractions are used to a part of something that is incomplete. If the pizza was complete and nobody ate any pieces then you would have 12/12 meaning twelve out of twelve pieces of pizza.
