It's kinda gross that I was not taught it as intelligently as this. Here is the explanation I got from the schooling: Take the first number, and put it in the calculator. I knew they were fractions and parts, but what was the calculator doing? What was it showing me? I never knew until now. You are a gem sir, I appreciate you.
What a very nice explanation, sir..students who are having hard time multiplying decimal numbers, will understand it easily because of your clear and concrete explanations..
Sir Gibson, First and foremost I would like to thank you for helping me gain confidence in Mathematics. It is a subject I have always loved, but never truly grasped the fundamentals, so I flunked it all throughout High-School. 1yr out and I stumbled upon your course. Purchasing it has been the best decision I have made, halfway though the Algebra1 course and I can't believe concepts that I thought we're difficult are a piece of cake now. Can't believe math was this easy alll along. Can proudly say I am almost always looking forward to the next lesson and doing the quizzes and extra practice. Something I'd always skip in High-school, because it was so frustrating to not understand. Looking forward to any courses you roll out in the future!❤
This decimal multiplication through graphs better explains the concept underlying it. I think multiplicand is represented by horizontal lines,multiplier by vertical lines and the product by overlapping area. One common mistake while performing decimal multiplication is ignoring the decimal points. Actually they count in the multiplication. For e.g 0.2×0.1=0.02 and not 0.2
Is this right how I understand ? basically 0.4 x 0.5 is 4 pieces (fractions) and i split every piece, and i get 5 pieces for every piece (4 groups of 5 pieces each) , and those 5 pieces represents 5 hundreths, becaue they are smaller than those 4 'whole' pieces which i started with, so finally i got 20 pieces in total and i need 100 to make a whole so its 20/100
I have been multiplying decimals most of my life and this is the first time I've been able to visualize what that means. Thank you for the excellent explanation.
I feel sorry for children because this philosophy is not taught as it should be taught. Only old fashion teachers know how to. This is where the gift of teaching comes into play.
Sweet lord.... What about multiplying do you have to not get for this to make sense? I was hoping that there would be some revelation about why the std multiplication works. I know how to multiply by decimals and I'm ripping my hair out trying to understand this.

Thank you sir. You have been the inspiration behind maths and science channel

You're most welcome!
i realize I'm pretty randomly asking but does anyone know a good website to watch new tv shows online ?
@Xander Vance Flixportal :)
@Kaison Brett Thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it !
@Xander Vance Glad I could help :)
If there is a math genius it is you , sir.
Wow good lesson I really enjoyed that, and can really use what I have just learned .👍👍
Awesome! So happy to hear this!
Really a very nice explanation, thank you sir. 😇😇😇
So nice of you!
incredible clarity and very engaging!l im in HS but never knew this. I like the analogy of 'chopping'
Thanks for inspiring me to learn math. I use to dislike math because I didn't understand it
God Himself explaining His Own creation. Grateful Sir.
You're the best teacher I never had, Jason. Thank you so much!!!
You're very welcome!
Brilliant, thanks Jason!
Welcome!

How can we do 1.2 x 0.3 by using models?
@math and science
Can you make videos on stem? Like for example, spatial ability folding shapes using ur head. Thank you
That is something definitely interesting to think about!
This is such a great way of showing it; many people could benefit from this (and all your other videos)!
Thank you I sincerely appreciate it!

Yes!
Sir Jason
thank you
🤑
Say it this way: multiplication by decimals, decreases
Multiplication by whole numbers above 2, increases
Thanks u for this
Definitely Good in the area of positive numbers.
This guy explains math. I wish other teacers would explain math instead of just assuming you already know the math.
You have an amazing ability to clarify concepts and make it practical. Thank you!
Welcome and thank you so much!
Can you explain why the answer to 0.2 x 0.3 is .06 and not .6?
10xfor your best help
These are easy because you just need to times the last number not the 0
Am in finance industry buh never knew this,, thanks alot teacher
Or you can think in percents if it’s easier. 50% of 40% = 20%

Hi!
What are you talking about the two should be in the hundredths place when you multiplly0.4×0.5
