If I'm being honest, I'm a big fan of the Duniverse, but the show has missed the mark from a technical storytelling perspective. I honestly think the Bene Gesserit are best left as a mysterious organization pulling the strings behind the curtains; The less we know about them, the better. I feel like if they want it to do a show explaining the universe of Dune prior to Paul, they should have started at The Butlerian Jihad and the war against the thinking machines-- I think that would have been more pertinent to the universe and a heck of a lot more interesting!
@Bustaperizm Well we're currently 10,000 years removed from the current Dune universe we know, and it's making for a rather uninteresting story that I believe undermines the mystery of the yet to be released 3rd Dune movie due to the undressing of the Bene Gesserit's cult of power. I do agree it is high risk due to the un-Dune nature of the Butlerian Jihad (being so far away and having the biggest turning point of the series), but I think, if handled well, could have been one of the most interesting stories in a TV show format this year-- it would of course take impeccable writing and nuanced display of the thinking machines, but I think that's the cool part of visualizing books-- creating things that flow together with the established universe of Dune.
I like IT !!! And when i watch something "Is it worth it" types of videos about movies & series ...it is for entertainment, you love it or not, there is no too much of philosophy in IT !!!
of course it is! if you like Dune, getting new shows and expanding the variety of shows or films out there to grapple with is a great thing. enjoy it for what it is. don't fall into the rut of toxic fandom and winge and moan because something isn't exactly how you want it. I poersonally dislike the brian herbert novels, but i welcome their adaptation to the screen because otherwise i would have never experienced these stories or characters.
Exactly the opposite. If you're not a Dune fan, you might enjoy it for what it is. If you are, it will be enraging. For more reasons than I can count. The biggest crime so far was making the sisters religious. THEY'RE NOT RELIGOUS. They cinically use religion. But they don't believe it. Sigh....
Okay series so far. As someone said in this commentsection, not a real fan of the clubscenes and i think sometimes there is alot of talking but it might ofcourse be important. Excited what there will be in the future episodes
I feel they are forcing nudity. In 1st ep an npc girl whit transparent clothes were in focus of the frame twice, she was just a random person at bar. In 2nd ep the sex scene went too long, it could have been slightly shorter. And the framing of this specific scene felt like a literal prn director directed it. The story of shield was something i was expecting and also detailed origin of the voice. Could have shown how she got an idea to create this voice and how she practiced it to learn.
Ive enjoyed it so far. Not a fan of the club scenes. They just seem so out of place. Beyond that, it's been a good show. And its nice to see Travis Fimmel back in a show.
Episode 1 was cool but I won’t lie the sex scene in episode 2 kinda turned me off…it can be implied but I don’t really need to see soft corn when watching a series it doesn’t add anything.
Yes
Yes. Episode 1 was ok episode 2 was good so let’s see the upward trajectory going.

Idk. I feel like it would be far removed from anything in dune. Unless there was some early gola tech or something
.

The show is kinda mid so far. The best part of the show is probably Travis Fimmel/Desmond Hart.
I'm along for the ride. Some questionable things so far, though.

How the hell can you ask that it’s 2 freaking episodes.
