  • Docent, Mary Beth Peterson offers an amazing tour of the Laurent House in Rockford, Illinois. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1949 and completed in 1952, this is a hemicycle Usonian home noted as one of the best-preserved examples of Wright’s architecture and interior design. Her presentation highlights the true story of how Wright’s design changed the life of its owner, Kenneth Laurent, a paraplegic as the result of a spinal cord tumor shortly after WWII where he served in the United States Navy. The house proved to be a haven for him, his wife Phyllis, and their two children.
