    We should also talk about Sol’s lineage and past
    He has killed his wife 4 times already. Jack-O within this game is technically a vessel for Sol’s wife’s consciousness to live in. He has a child named Dizzy, and Ky put his peepee in her, making Sol his father-in-law. Ky has a child named Sin, and this makes Sol a grandpa. Ramlethal and another character from XRD named Elphalt being somewhat related to Aria’s robotic form Judgement makes them Sol’s…great nieces? Sol’s entire family is extremely confusing. @@serene-illusion I know this comment is weeks old; but there are no more infinites in Skullgirls (or at least; none that are actually inescapable. You get to burst if the opponent repeats a move to often in a single combo). And there haven't been for years. In fact, most characters go for a lot of resets instead (mostly using restands). It's still extremely brutal to try and defend in SG, but you should be used to that after playing BB lol.

    I love this video, because it's the first time I've had such a clear explanation of some of the archetypes of characters and _what about them would appeal to someone_ and thus what to pick _based on what you like_.
    I'm 1000% supportive of fighting game content from you, I'd love to see more videos like this, because this was fascinating - meaty information, demonstration of meaty information by showing e.g. what a frame trap was, _application of said meaty information_ through analysis of the character archetypes, and _application of that_ to what you want to pick?
    That is absolute video heaven for me and I want more of it.
    I'm an utter fighting game scrub and don't like losing, so it's hard to "git gud"; I genuinely think it is hard to learn to play fighting games just because we don't know what to look for and the feedback is "I lost" or "I won", rather than "I lost because someone did a frame trap that I fell for, that they then used to its full extent and combo'd me for 30% of my health, and I thereafter lost my cool and lost neutral a lot". Or "I was a button mashy nub, and therefore got poked with a long range attack, combo'd into the wall, and thereafter murdered with extreme prejudice by someone actually knowing what they were doing"... which is more likely.
    ... I guess what I mean is, is there such a thing as "fighting game coaching" content and analysis of people's performance?
    And what channels do people recommend watching?
    I'm def. gonna watch the video you linked in the description because that sounds good.
    I'd love content like this based around Blazblue, DB FighterZ, and Smash, if anyone knows recommendations for those I'd love to see it.
    ((Is there a Triburos discord? And is there a fighting game channel there? Curious now.))

    • @kholdkhaos64ray11
      @kholdkhaos64ray11 3 роки тому +3

      Yeah, there are tons of fighting game educational content around there. If you're looking for people talking about player matches and analyzing their mistakes, then you're looking for "Match Analysis" videos. Top players do this from time to time looking at their replays but commentators are better for it. Off the top of my head, People like Sajam or Brian F (sometimes iirc) put out match analysis vids from time to time and are fairly friendly about explaining to newbies about what they mean when they drop knowledge.
      If you're looking for tutorial content, those same people apply but there's WAY more to choose from like say jmcrofts or Lord Knight (Dragon Ball).
      There's usually someone out there for you if you give a quick search like "[insert fighting here] tutorial". I hope that helps :)

They are ridiculously hard and they have their own convoluted language (which actually isn't different from any other genre to be honest) ..... It's better to Rip that band aid of honesty off than to start players off with a lie.... And before you disagree... This is Guilty Gear we're talking about... @@lookalike4805 I respectfully disagree with games like dbfz and strive they are trying to lessen the learning cap toward new players and of course a street fighter play would have problem in guilty gear because they are different types of fighting games another thing is that since their aren’t many people into fighting games so it’s more of learning an entire genre because more than likely a new player wouldn’t have played a fighting game before they are hard but it’s like that with any game they take time to learn it’s just that fighting games are a bit more complex but the gap isn’t that huge at least I like to think considering I started fighting games 2 years ago

      @@crabulaunch4754 I suppose... however it could also be interpreted as they are merely trying to meet both types of players in the middle. which sounds like the same thing but this subtle change in language makes a large difference between a fighting game that actually cares about new players and one that merely uses new players... in the case of Arc Systems Works previous games I would say its the latter.... you'l have to play Killer Instinct with the Combo Assist Mechanic to see the difference.
      As for your point about Street Fighter and Guilty Gear being different games... sure thats true... but its also not the whole story... Call of Duty and Battlefield are different games but the transitional barrier between the two is nothing like that of Street Fighter and Guilty Gear... the games don't even have the same leniency on their input buffers so even do something that is identical in both games requires a pretty significant adjustment just because of this small difference a fact that thats definitely going to frustrate a new player if we mislead them on just how Accessible fighting games really are (Hint, they're not)...
      and as for your last point about the difficulty of learning other games... Im sorry but this just isnt true... you should take the time to actually watch someone learn anything else, even when frustrated by the experience not once do they question if the process can be improved and if they do its because there is a genuine desire to make things better.... but with fighting games its: "Why cant they just make it one button.... why dont they just increase the timing window.... etc" the thing to understand here is... they arent actually looking for a genuine answer to these questions... after all knowing what a one frame link is isn't going suddenly going to allow you to do them... what they are really saying they don't see what any of those things have to do with the game.... To them... a Dragon Punch is a Dragon Punch... giving it a fancy cheat code input doesn't change how they perceive the move...
      in short... the problem is not that Fighting Games are hard... ofcourse they're hard... all competitive games are hard... what makes fighting games different is that they are hard even when you are competing against a dummy in training mode... a feature thats entirely unique to this Genre, you don't see people dropping inputs in Training Modes in other games because other games are smart enough not to crank up the Execution Barrier all the way to 11... Personally I don't like that and I wish that would change... but it wont... hence its better new players know exactly what pain awaits them... and since this is an Arc Sys game... theres doing definitely going to be pain...

      @@lookalike4805 To me no offense but I think you're just saying people are lazy and I actually have seen someone learn a game. I taught my little brother how to play street fighter do hadokens and all that and he was enjoying himself. He would rather play fortnite but that because he likes that game a lot. I even watched him go from some trash at that game to pretty decent it all matters on how people feel about a game that makes them wanna learn it and for most people fighting games arent their thing and thats ok

    • @lookalike4805
      @lookalike4805 3 роки тому

      @@crabulaunch4754 I don't know how you got the impression that I think people are lazy but whatever.... Not important...
      As for learning games (or anything really) ofcourse you taught your Family how to play fighting games.... I reckon that's how alot of Fighting Gamers start out. Because I know you sure as hell count rely on learning directly from the game itself. This is where fighting games differ from other Genres including competitive ones, other Genres don't usually require nearly as much Community Intervention to enjoy or understand them. But fighting games do... Because they are just that hard.
      A regular person can browse the Steam/PSN/Live store and pick up something like Fortnite or Rocket League on whim and figure it out without nearly as much frustration... However stories of a casual gamer picking up any Arc System Works game and figuring things out on their own are Urban Legends as far as I know... I'm sure it's happened before but it's highly implausible.
      I've argued for the past 15 years for Fighting Games to swallow their pride and start making some real changes that actually would make them less frustrating to play.... They refused.... So naturally public perception about the Genre hasn't changed infact I would say it's pretty accurate.... Does the FGC Have a problem with that ? They say they do but as soon as you say "One Button Specials" they cry Bloody Murder.... So il just assume it's fine with them if Public Perception never changes.... Misleading people into thinking their not that hard is just going to make it even worse.

    great video trib. you explained concepts in fighting games really well not just the ones exclusive to guilty gear like roman cancels, and as a footnote in strive and some other fighting games you can dash back immediately after wakeup and get invincibility. it avoids throws and some attacks though the opponent can wait for it or just hit with a meaty attack with a lot of active frames. great for avoiding pot buster. hope you do more videos about stuff other than warframe like this although I would still like to see the rest of your stug run.

    Wait, so there are people in the Warframe community who play fighting games? Jk but really I love fighting games and I wish my friends liked them as much as me. My first fighting game was sf2 turbo and I had no idea what I was doing but I learned how to do a fire ball and ever since I've loved the idea of fighting games. I then played an old version of killer instinct with my dad and started to really like it. I tried mk but I didn't really like it then I got to smash and I loved it. Started with brawl then went to pm and it felt amazing. Went back to melee and tbh I preferred pm because I was a Lucario main and anyone who knows pm knows Lucario is the most 2d fighting game character in pm because of his magic series and them turning his aura into ex meter. I played rivals after because it felt nice and custom characters but this is much later. Then I found it, my fighting game of choice would end up being skull girls. My first main was Valentine and she doesn't do a lot of damage to be honest but what she lacks in damage she makes up for in easy long combos with good resets and ips baits and she felt amazing. I had a good idea of how the game worked but it wouldn't be until Annie came out that I broke through the fighting game wall. When Annie came out I wanted to try her and I got pretty good at her but then I saw her potential with sonic fox and I realized I didn't know shit about fighting games until then. After that I really started to lab Annie and discover not only her secrets but how to play fighting games in general and I love it! Also she is a clone of Sol badguy so....lol

    People love to complain about how simplified and "accessible" GGS is, but to me, a newbie to the genre, it's a blessing. I haven't managed to stick to any other game because the barrier is too high, but GGS has been the springboard from where I can learn the fundamentals to put into other fighting games.

    • @serene-illusion
      @serene-illusion 2 роки тому +2

      I think making the game accessible was a bittersweet decision for me as a GG fan. It got rid of a lot of stuff that I think made the previous games super fun, but I think were necessary to get more people into the game. Now on one hand I think it's a blessing, because never have I hopped into a lobby in a Guilty Gear game and see so many people constantly online. It's just sad, y'know?
      Out of curiosity, what do you think makes the game more accessible for you? For me, I think it was definitely the slower pacing that helps newcomers see what they and their opponents doing in a match.
      There were some stuff that I don't agree with, like removing a lot of moves for a lot of characters to make their moveset less intimidating for beginners. Like imagine you're playing this character in a game and thinking they have the coolest moves, only to find that character have a lot of their cool ass moves be removed in the next game to make them more accessible. It sucks honestly, but what do you think?

    Ahh. Now i get why 2d fighters will never surpass Tekken.
    In tekken, defense and offense is no longer than half a second. Most of all the round is spent in neutral. There is no "let me spam six button combo while my opponent has to block until they guess correctly what my last action will be".
    There is only a launch that contains a combo you cannot escape, and oki and neutral. The offense/defense is only 2 buttons, or strings that carry risk for the attacking player that far outweighs the reward if the defending player blocks correctly.

    • @Zondac
      @Zondac 3 роки тому

      Compared to Strive, Tekken has about the same length offense strings, actually some I would dare say are longer even. However, usually only your opener is safe on block because you can't cancel most of the recovery animations into things like specials and supers. If your offense lasts "no longer than half a second", I don't think you're that good at Tekken lol. Plus, there certainly are characters that do that "let me spam my six button combo" vibe, like Lucky Chloe and to a lesser extent Noctis, Lili and Kazumi. Oki in Tekken is also very different in that you have more options when downed about how you get up.
      And I mean, Strive is currently rapidly approaching the popularity of Tekken, with a growing fanbase and (at time of writing) tending to average around half the viewership of T7, which is impressive considering both are past their launch window, but T7 has had 7 years to build up that following, whereas GGST has had 3 months
