    In this video I will show you how to replace the EVAP Purge Solenoid on your 2nd generation Chevy Equinox. This is on the 3.0L V6.
    Symptoms of a P0496 will include a check engine light, and most likely no other noticeable symptoms. Some may experience a hard start / crank condition (this was the case for me after filling up with gas).
    This was a pretty easy job that, if you do it yourself, can save you some money. Below are some links to the part, tools and other useful items for doing this job.

      @@wichito8736 That's encouraging. Just finished and have a couple "permanent" DTC codes set now which cannot be cleared with my scanner apparently, but she's purring like a kitten now and the permanent codes should clear after 3 drive cycles. Learned something new (permanent codes). Cheers.

    Nice video. Just did this. I pulled the 4 bolts out to move the throttle body as it makes it easier to see. Make sure new rubber bushing flat side is the same as the old one you removed as it would not let the bolt get started for me .

    I replaced the part and my light is still on after driving it for a few hours how do I turn the check engine light off?

    • @DCAutoEnhancement
      @DCAutoEnhancement  11 місяців тому +1

      I don't recall if I cleared my code with a scanner or if it shut itself off. EVAP systems usually require approximately 3 drive cycles to clear. That would be 3 15 min drives shutting the key off between drives. If the light persists, check wire connections and hose connections. If everything is good with the connections, inspect the hoses look for any damage that could cause an air leak. Let me know what happens

    I have to replace this now, bought the car from my brother a few months ago. How much effort did you give to pull the vapor line? I Have the clip pushed but the line doesn't want to budge. Also, is there a tab to push when removing the connector or it's just pull out? Because like you mentioned, it's hard to see since it's in a tight space, Would removing the bolt first to loosen it make it easier to remove the connectors?

    • @DCAutoEnhancement
      @DCAutoEnhancement  5 місяців тому

      I think as long as you can get to the plug and the hose, it's best to leave the bolt. If you twist the tube/hose, it may break it free. There should be a tab on the connector if I remember correctly.

    • @DCAutoEnhancement

      The failure mode, (at least on my case), is when I fill the gas tank it take longer to start up and the first seconds the engine rattle besides that no other simpthon.
