You could also do French toast for breakfast and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. Could bake some of the potatoes shred them and make hashbrowns. I like this challenge. Good job.

Great video. A couple suggestions. Save the skin and bones from the chicken in the freezer. You can add veggie scraps and simmer up a good stock with them. Then just add pasta and mixed frozen veggies to make soup. Also when you buy veggies or fruit in a five pound, ten pound etc bag the least amount in a package is listed but some bags will have a bit more weight because veggies are not uniform size. If have the time you can weigh some of the bags that seem more full and often find one that is up to a 1/2 pound more to get a bit more for your money. Also make sure to go through them at home and use the ones that have soft spots etc first so they don’t start to rot and contaminate the rest of the bag. You can teach your kids to do this to save yourself time.

And in the real world with some normal stuff you have in your pantry you could take 2 thighs to make chicken soup, 2 to make fried rice, because you probably have real things in your pantry that you can use I know for these challenges you only use what you buy but if it's were real world he would probably have a cup of rice laying around somewhere it's scrape up a few things for soup. I always think this way because I remember a point in my life where to size was the amount of meat I had to use in each meal! Those were tough times but luckily they are in the past

Thank you so much!! That is so true chicken soup and fried rice would be great alternatives. I think it is always important to remember those times so if we had to we could get resourceful again and be ok.

Until this week, I would have only suggested hot dog $1 or rice $1. Now I would add, instead of the Kroger mayonnaise, you get 1 more dozen eggs, small container of vinegar, 48oz GV vegetable oil. If you use a blender or hand mixer and put together the oil, vinegar, eggs and salt you can make your own mayo with a superior flavor. Now you have oil for cooking, eggs, and save the vinegar. Sarah love food shows you how to make mayo and it was so easy, I was surprised.

Kenyon Bissett that is really good idea on how to be even more resourceful. I was just telling my husband I need to keep vinegar on hand. Thank you so much for the recipe and ideas.

Lex Journey I have a hard time eating eggs, but they are so versatile and though we think of eggs as another source of protein, it is a major source biotin which very necessary for a healthy body. I love vinegar due to t it’s multiple uses. My favorite is with crabs 🦀 (Marylander) and my second is if your clothes smell mildew/moldy just add vinegar to the rinse cycle and goodbye smelly wet clothes.

I just started doing this and I will never buy mayonnaise again! It's so easy and cheap, not to mention all those additives are gone.

@@bethwalker6218 and a great way to stretch your food budget. Mayo has gotten horribly expensive.

I would love to see your meal plan! Does your Kroger have markdowns? There is a markdown bread rack & expiring produce is ..99 cents! Love this!

Take the sausage, remove so,e from the “skin” and fry it, layer the chips, so,me of the cheese, cit up small and so,e scarfed taco sauce amd make nachos, Use the chicken and bones to make chicken soup. Fiber fills you up longer than carbs,

This was great! Take your chicken thighs to make the chicken roast. Throw a few in the crock pot with some chopped potatoes. Put whatever beef seasoning you would use for roast with beef stock /broth. Shred the chicken when done. It taste like roast just lighter and stretches. 🙂

If you could show them cooked?😋. You picked good items-I was thinking, nobody ever does tortilla chips, then I thought I guess they are not cheap to think about it, & I usually don’t make it to Aldi or Save a lot, as I go late usually-so the price on chips is good. I wish we had a Kroger!
