Learn about Total Disability due to Individual Unemployability (TDIU), a benefit that allows veterans to be paid at the 100% rate even if their combined disabilities don't reach 100% on the scheduler. TDIU is granted when service-connected disabilities prevent substantial gainful employment. To apply, use VA Form 8940 and be cautious when listing disabilities to avoid unnecessary reevaluations. Include Social Security disability determination and work history, and gather statements from doctors highlighting limitations caused by service-connected disabilities. Seek expert guidance to strengthen your case. Subscribe for more VA disability insights and contact us for assistance.

As someone who was awarded TDIU I have one word of advice. Get a certified vocational expert to perform an evaluation using your C-File, work history and education history. If they determine that you’re unemployable they’ll write a report for you to submit to the VA. The report is compelling evidence that the VA will find difficult to ignore or dispute. To anyone reading this Thank You for your service and good luck with you claims.
Where would I get a vocational expert? How would I find one?
@proudasiangirl576
Enroll yourself at a VA Hospital domiciliary. It's a 30 to 90 day inpatient program for veterans that are addicts and homeless. I got tdiu my first try while I did the program. That's my advice

Thanks this is exactly where I am today waiting on decisions.
Thank you ma'am, you helped me a lot; could not have done it without you
I am currently at 90 percent, 2 months ago I was given a pulmonary function test by my private Dr and my fev 1 score was 53, I submitted that to the VA on my copd claim, was given a c&p exam and the examiner used that same score , mental health dr also provided me a letter stating i was in her opinion unemployable, what are the chances of a positive outcome
Thanks still waiting
Do you have to be currently unemployed to file for IU? What if your just sucking up the pain in order to survive with the wife??
same question
id like to know as well. Current work conditions ar contentious and casues me high anxiety and take extra breaks not to hurt someone.
Wow
thank you your very good on information
IVE BEEN AT 90% for years (IU) BUT RECENTLY GOT PAPERWORK SAYING IM 100% total and permanent. Does this mean I can work?
Yes u can. Only TDIU, SMC, and AA can be impacted.
Well if you were receiving IU that means you obviously had something that you claimed prevented you from working so I’d be curious how now you’d be able to work if you were unable to do so prior to getting the new rating?
I filed for an increase and TDIU. I had 3 C&P exams for what I claimed, now I'm waiting for the decision.
I submitted my work history from social security, and a VR&E acceptance letter explaining why I cannot obtain substantial gainful employment due to my mental disability, lack of educational history and training.
were u currently working and did u get approved?
Thats me Help Me Please
I have severe, chronic panic attacks. It's well documented in my service medical records. It started after my first Afghanistan deployment.
I've been to the ER (both VA and civilian hospitals) over 150 times in the last 6 years and I haven't worked since 2016.
I can't even go to the grocery store without freaking out much less have a job.
I currently have a total %80 rating with %70 mdd rating.

VA being uncool, not helping out at all.😢.
I feel you brother. They don’t give a damned. Use you toss you in the trash when they break you.
Keep fighting.
You may have good advice but the sound on your video really sucks
TDIU IS TEMPORARY!!!ITS NOT PERMANENT..FYI
Really? How temporary?
You can be TDIU P&T FYI
Tdiu can be permanent and total if your award letter says no further examinations are scheduled in the future. If your award letter says that you are scheduled for future examinations your tdiu is temporary.
Total disability not temporary.
Don’t be lame by spreading bad info… TDIU P&T - for some it is permanent.
Echo Plus, she's talking too fast had to watch it twice.
