Upon the death of a 100% disabled Veteran the surviving Spouse gets a "Portion" of the deceased Veterans monthly compensation. That money can only passed on to the Spouse (on a monthly payment for the life of the Spouse) if they have been married for 10 years from the date of rating Award Letter. As of now, 06/24, there is a new Bill moving through the Senate that will reduce the time to 5 years and greatly increase the amount. Also the surviving Spouse can keep their Champ VA.
I'm 100% service connected and it was very easy for me. My disabilities are well documented when I was on active duty. I also have no claims for PTSD and anyone who claims that is automatically scrutinized heavily because of the massive amount of cases in the system. People have issues with the VA but mine have been mostly positive and easy to navigate, but then again my issues are easily verified with my active duty medical records, bloodwork, and radiology.
The whole system is random. I am currently retiring going through BDD. All of my issues are very well documented in my records, but I have been waiting 5 months for VA exams because the VA won't accept the Active Duty records without an independent exam, and they can't get the exam done. I filled my paperwork well within the 180-90 day required window (somewhere around 160 days before separation) and I am not down to 2 weeks before my formal retirement, and the VA hasn't even done the physical yet. The VA is choosing to cluster exams into a 520 minute appointment, which they then turn around and say "Sorry, no providers will take the appointment, not our fault". So I am stuck in limbo apparently indefinitely.
You're a very rare case. It's been Hell to deal woth the VA and have not only seen countless vet friends get denied legitimate claims, but hurt within the system by poorly trained doctors and nurses. I'd bet the staff at the VA consists mostly of the bottom of the barrel of the medical profession. I would NEVER allow them to perform surgery on me.
They have not bugged me as I have had surgery for every claim. I have dates of actual combat situations that caused these issues. Your combat unit has records of dates and areas of operation. THAT seals the deal, so to speak.
If they pass this bill. It won't matter, because it's about the dollar they are trying to get from veterans. They don't care about your status. The money you receive is what they are wanting. They want to reduce your pockets, not your appointments. Let's tell 2 friends and veterans. Spread the word at the VA and call your old military buddies.
TY! Good coverage of the main benefits. Veterans and spouses should know that DIC is not the same rate as veteran disability compensation. I personally have not, but you should give them the VA letter that said you didn't have to pay the loan and if they continue to lower your credit score, you should remind them that they can be sued.
I’m all for the benefits for 100% disabled veterans. But why don’t you guys go up against the government for all of us that’s less than 100%. @@QDSHOTIT2 Yes absolutely right. Just take your Veterans Health Card to the pass office and they have to conduct a background check on you and whoever your bringing. That way you don't need the pass office each and everytime. I believe I read every three years a background check if I'm correct.
I retired in 2017 after 33 years of total service active . reserve and war service. I will be 57 next month, I was 10%, 30%, 70% and then in 2018 I was awarded 100% with my combine rating letter, but I never claimed all that was wrong. Can I claim permanent since I have not worked since 2018 or will they require another C&PE? I am due to collect my military pension either at age 59 based on my war service, or is it worth trying to have it changed to permanent?
I was persistent in contacting the VA and asking them about Permanent and Total. And they sent me to another c&p exam. I had a 40% rating on my back and va flags that rating imo. I learned how to describe my disabilities in va speak to the examiner who wrote me a good packet. Va then reduced my back to 20% and gave me P&t. Another issue I had was va never would let me have the code sheet to see which disability was not considered static. Once you know or get the code sheet you can continue seeking treatment for that disability and submit to va then ask for P&t.
Just curious- I recently got my disabled mother who is 83 approved as my VA dependent- any information on why she cannot receive any health care support through champ ? Not all veterans have spouses and/ or kids as dependents.... a dependent is a dependent right ?
I am 90% IU and P+T so my wife and our two sons have ChampVA. There is no dental or eye care attached to ChampVA. Our VA hospital has contract with ChampVA so my wife can go to that VA but she cannot be seen at Dental or Eye care clinic because ChampVA does not pay for dental or eye care. Not all VA hospitals have contract with ChampVA how ever. But those that do your spouse can register with the VA at the eligibility desk at the VA.
I was told I would have to live 10 years for my wife to get benefits. It has been 8 and 1/2 years since I was made 100%. I worry about my wife having enough money to live on. How much will she get? Also the ChampVA hasn't helped much. Please steer us in the right direction. Thank you so much. Stay Safe and God Bless.
Can I the disabled p n t veteran use my Gi bill and my husband use Dea benefit during the same time? How can I arrange for us both to be in school with my benefits? Is this possible?
I was surprised to hear both of you say, "I believe it does" when referring to vocational training benefits for dependents. You should know if it does or doesn't. Scrolling through the comments, it would appear that they don't answer any questions. I guess they would have to consider it as legal advice.
And try to keep applying for permanent total and I get unemployment right now and you tell me not to reapply to get my hundred percent total and permanent and I don't know where to go
I’m 100% my son passed away and I help his kids 10 and 13 he wasn’t married but I have his kids about 15 days a month more in summer I help buy clothes and with money for them is there some kind of allowance to offset my cost!!!
As far as reducing benefits they have protected pension that's what we have. I was on champ va and 20 yrs later they corrected his military records and was given a 50 percent combined from the navy and retired benefits no pay from the military because his 100 percent disability from va I lost my champ va due to new medical benefits from navy but we cant take the payment from retirement. The secretary of the navy said retirement from 2018 back to 2004 and we haven't been reimbursed or received the 50 percent disability payment from the navy he should also be getting concurrent retired pay and disability pay from the va at the same time do to a 50 percent disability and 100 percent from va so how do we get his retirement to pay tricare and dental and the S.G.L.I benefits no pay makes no sense we rather have the retirement. And pay the taxes !
I'm going to make a claim but do I do everything only one claim including my secondary's or do I do 1 at a time not sure how to go about this or where to go I am in Oregon do I go to a local VFW or the local VA????
I’m not at 100% still working towards it. I’m at 90 right now but have a claim of 70% for PTSD/TBI would I qualify for the extra compensation if I get my hundred percent?
If you do 20 years you should get 100% of your pay....but no monetary comp from the VA. If you do less than 20 you and your family should get VA medical for life, regardless. Do away with ratings.
Just one issue is bad enough. Especially when it isa downplayed. It's been 30 years, but the crappy attitudes are what I rermember most from meducal corp and the VA both. Their attitudes were horrible post Gulf War.
@Frank Taylor i feel like the attitudes havent changed, almost like they hire people who honestly could care less if we live or die , i got hit with a mortar and for 8 years they told me the pain was all mental , come to find out my spine was nearly being severed and i had to essentially blackmail the VA with threats of malpractice to get them to refer me outside the VA , finally got my 2nd surgery 2 months ago
@@beardedsheepdog2783 I know there are worse stories than mine of their malpractice and I just now read of one more. Here, by you. I developed dystonia ( among other things) in the military and they said things like that "in your head" stuff as well. I don't use them for medical treatment because of their malpracticing ways. They use interns for one. Also, the years I did use them, several would try and talk me into just committing suicide, writting terrible things about me in their reports, literally.
My husband passed a month ago. He was a 100 % disability, this was caused from Vietnam, needed a heart transplant. No children, what are we looking at in amount. Been married a little over 5 years…Tyvm
allow me to elucidate. i do not want to take schizophrenia medications because i dont think i need them. and my people said if i didnt need them then i would not be 100% and he ordered me to take them and called the va the va called the police and the police made me take them or i would be mentally sectioned to a mental hospital.

@@shandee1212 where in the letter you received saids. P/T verbage. my cuousin got his letter of 100% but there is no mention of P/T
Just curious- I recently got my disabled mother who is 83 approved as my VA dependent- any information on why she cannot receive any health care support through champ ? Not all veterans have spouses and/ or kids as dependents.... a dependent is a dependent right ?
You and your mother would have to approved under CHAMPVA. There are eligibility requirements, see a VSO in your area on how to apply.
Should I or should I not submit a claim for smc-k secondary to my service connected injury? Would they examine my sc injury or my entire file?
Was wondering if you can tell me for 100% P&T veterans, for their dependents, are they offered dental care coverage or only CHAMPVA?
I am 90% IU and P+T so my wife and our two sons have ChampVA. There is no dental or eye care attached to ChampVA. Our VA hospital has contract with ChampVA so my wife can go to that VA but she cannot be seen at Dental or Eye care clinic because ChampVA does not pay for dental or eye care. Not all VA hospitals have contract with ChampVA how ever. But those that do your spouse can register with the VA at the eligibility desk at the VA.
@@michaelseger903 Thank you for sharing. I just got my TDIU 100% P&T, with SMC-S approved yesterday.
I believe that Champ Va Healthcare benefits are only available if you are "100% Disabled and Total". I am not elligble as I am 100% Disabled only.
Champva is for dependents of the 100% veteran not the veteran. Veteran uses VA or maybe community Care. See your VSO.
How much is required for hiring legal assistance with disability claims? I have six claims; two have been accepted, and 4 others have been denied.
Where is it noted on your rating that it is PT&D?
On your awards letter
I heard that it is difficult get permanent & total 100%.
No it’s not it all depends on your Doctor report, com & pen
I was told I would have to live 10 years for my wife to get benefits. It has been 8 and 1/2 years since I was made 100%. I worry about my wife having enough money to live on. How much will she get? Also the ChampVA hasn't helped much. Please steer us in the right direction.
Thank you so much.
Stay Safe and God Bless.
You need to enroll and pay into VGLI.
DIC is around $1400 and yes 10 yrs of marriage.
Can I the disabled p n t veteran use my Gi bill and my husband use Dea benefit during the same time? How can I arrange for us both to be in school with my benefits? Is this possible?
Yes, you can. And if you have college age kids they can too. Its an “individual” benefit.
I was surprised to hear both of you say, "I believe it does" when referring to vocational training benefits for dependents. You should know if it does or doesn't. Scrolling through the comments, it would appear that they don't answer any questions. I guess they would have to consider it as legal advice.
And try to keep applying for permanent total and I get unemployment right now and you tell me not to reapply to get my hundred percent total and permanent and I don't know where to go
Need clarification. I’ve been determined to be 100% but my ID card shows expiration as “Indef” not Permanent. Is this the same as Permanent?
“I belive”
Huge the spouse is taking care of after the veterans passing if 100 PANDT
ChampVA is a secondary insurance and, although slightly helpful, maybe just give full, real health insurance?
Champva covers everything your primary doesn't cover if you have no primary it covers everything
I’m 100% my son passed away and I help his kids 10 and 13 he wasn’t married but I have his kids about 15 days a month more in summer I help buy clothes and with money for them is there some kind of allowance to offset my cost!!!
Nope
What about concurrent retirement. If I’m getting 20 year retirement and I also have 100% VA disability do I get all of my retirement?
Yes
Can I get additional benefits with TDIU?
You get the same bennies as any 100%, but you cannot work or have gainful employment, thus under poverty level or the same as SSDI/SSI
I'm going to make a claim but do I do everything only one claim including my secondary's or do I do 1 at a time not sure how to go about this or where to go I am in Oregon do I go to a local VFW or the local VA????
Your local Veteran Service Office VSO.
What if you're 80% but paid at the 100% IU permanent and total, can you still get a job, and not lose the 100% rate of pay, or do they reduce it?
I believe that would have to rate you employable, instead of unemployable
@@williamjackson5357 It says I’m unemployable. Forgot to add that.
Are you for real!
That 7th one, commissary benefits. That is wrong, commissary is open to veterans with 0-100% service connected and with an honorable discharge.
Yep passed a couple years ago, just have to register at the gate to gain access to the installation.
You don't necessarily need an honorable discharge. You can get them with a general or under honorable conditions. It just depends.
I need yall help so bad .
She's so beautiful ❤
i need to go to rehab and so far they decline my va champa
Are you the veteran or the dependent? CHAMPVA is for the dependents of the Veteran.
I aldo ger a break on my property taxes in Ohio
DEA benefits kick in only after you have held your 100 for three years I believe its not instant
These videos are easy to watch with the woman on the left!! Smokin’ 🔥
Take care of the woman on your left 😉
How do you recognize information indirectly offered by unverifiable sources regarding student loans or any other benefits entitled?
Information regarding DIC is wrong. 10 years, not 8. DEA is chapter 35 GI bill. They also missed student loan forgiveness. Fail.
can you get 100% disability if you were Army National Guard that was never on active duty? If so, how?
Only active
Rachelle is so pretty
I'm 60% and also have exchange privileges. That does not require 100%.
Pretty good 💯🙏😇
I’m not at 100% still working towards it. I’m at 90 right now but have a claim of 70% for PTSD/TBI would I qualify for the extra compensation if I get my hundred percent?
Yes
If you do 20 years you should get 100% of your pay....but no monetary comp from the VA. If you do less than 20 you and your family should get VA medical for life, regardless. Do away with ratings.
My accumulated disability is 290%
Thought mine was high. At 180% and an addition 0% service connection for 40% hearing loss in one ear.
@Frank Taylor pretty sure all mine are SC im not sure but im assuming most was from getting hit , 32 and my body is essentially 60 haha
I am 100% + 60%. How do I apply for the additional stipend? Thank you.
See your VSO
👍
They changed the 8 years to 10 years.
Wait so they changed it back to 10 years. It was always 10 years.
Can I get my wife's student debt wiped instead of mine?
Kids get chapter 35 benefits
Yes, each dependent and spouse.
why dont anyone make videos on the negatives and reality to being 100% and really being that disabled
allow me to elucidate. i do not want to take schizophrenia medications because i dont think i need them. and my people said if i didnt need them then i would not be 100% and he ordered me to take them and called the va the va called the police and the police made me take them or i would be mentally sectioned to a mental hospital.
What good does it do to bitch and moan about disabilities that are service connected? It won't provide a cure. You learn that you have to deal with the cards you are holding. Period
Dont forget that the Washington Post doesnt think you should have these...that these are luxuries. Make sure your riding your representatives asses.
it just sucks losing your PCM that you grew a connection wtih because they told me l couldn't use them because l wasn't active duty no more then been giving someone 50 mins away then switching to someone closer with no openings until 4 months down the rode.. makes me want to go back active but oh well l guess things could be worse
I got my rating today and looked up videos to learn more. Most have thumbnails of people looking like they won the lottery. I shit blood on a weekly basis. Sure don't feel like a "winner." I get it, but...fuck.
You have to be "lucky" to be totally disabled while staying alive to receive the benefit.
They’ll never give me 100% I’ve tried
Keep trying. Never give up, you’re a soldier!!!
She’s a baddie
Crummy audio for us with bad hearing !
less than 100% but P&T qaulifies for being 100 and not pand will not
Great ladies! Y'all be Hot! Lol
i get free license plate.
What do you mean *you believe it does* does it or doesn't it?
That's an odd statement from somebody trying to make a video about benefits.
All in all, not that helpful. What about dental? Did you two forget to mention that? Flights? Ect...
But thanks anyway.
Next time you two decide to make a video, do a little research first!
Otherwise you're just kind of wasting people's time.
I've been a 100% disabled Navy veteran since August 1996 and by October 2000 I started receiving benifits and medical and the one thing I hate is how long it takes to get a apt. because it took me 1 1/2 years to get a dental apt...
