If you like, you can swap out the nib unit with a Asvine nib unit. That doesn't seat the nib as far in as the original. It also takes a different converter with a slightly larger opening. I haven't had any problems with the one that I received but I did to the swap because I wanted a broader nib and it worked fine.

Thank you for the tip. In fact, the best Majohn nib is their Stub nib. However, it is only in their P136 pen and it needs a special tool to remove the unit. If I can pull out only the nib I may want to use that nib for a swap. If not I have plenty of German nibs that will do the trick.

I have to apologize. I misremembered. It's not Moonman nib units that work with the M400. It's Asvine nib units. I just checked. I corrected the comment. @@fountainpentherapy

Hello Vincenzo, thank you for review and the deep dive into the Size of the nib. I have a dark Blue one with a wonderfull smooth nib right out of the box. My converter works very well and sits secure, so I really like the pen. It is a short pen, but only 4/5 mm shorter then my new Delta Dolce Vita mid-Size. Which was a terribly bad writer out of the box. The Tines were very misaligned and resseting and Needed tuning. So both ways you can get a not so good pen that doesn’t Work right.
The P 136 nib unit doesn’t fit. I didn’t try fitting only the nib because it looked wider. And I already broke the fins of another P136 feed. They are thinner so be carefull if you go that route.
The only thing I don’t understand of the Majohn M400 is that with all the gold trim they put on a Silver nib.

There are no "standards" for nib sizes. They all vary a bit from all the makers. The size No. 5 or 6 is based on feed diameter, not shoulder width. Chinese nibs generally sized by length 28/35mm (5/6 equivalent). Because of no standards, I made a chart of many nibs comparing dimensions, saw how they all varied. I have a different converter in my M400, fits securely, no metal band. Many Chinese pens are assembled by the seller not the manufacturer, they buy parts and assemble pens, so converters can vary. The roller clip was first used by Wahl in the 1920s, the Italians borrowed the design.

    Is it heavy?

Unfortunately, not, and some would say it is a little too light

I got this pen with a fine nib in two tone color and its way bigger than yours but it also writes fantastically out of the box. I wonder if you got a dud?

I must have. But a replacement nib will do just fine as I really enjoy the pen.

Care to expand . I am using a Sony A7iv and a Sony 6100. I am not a professional photographer or videographer so I am trying my best. But constructive criticism is always welcomed.

@@fountainpentherapyI think your camera is fine, but you might check your audio levels as your voice signal is a bit high, leading to clipping (that kind of raspy sound). Interesting content though!

@@fountainpentherapy Scusa Vincenzo. Scherzo Dai. Your camera is fine. Your videos are great so the more we viewers get frustrated when that fancy Sony doesn’t focus right. It might be a setting in the camera. Try set the autofocus not on the scene in general but to auto focus on what’s in the middle of screen. I don’t have a Sony, I have a Canon also with a mind of his own but I was able to set it so it autofocus in the center of the fields.

One more thing. If you don’t have a Macro lens don’t set the pen or object too close to the objective since the lens won’t focus. I know photography but I don’t know the pitfalls of overhead photography but I believe a moderate zoom with a moderate macro capability might be the best solution. So instead of moving the pen towards the camera you just zoom into the pen. I am not sure if I explained myself. Stammi bene e saluti da Los Angeles. Patito di stilografiche come te. Ciao.
