I am a beginner but I am feeling confident that I can do this. I may have to play the video fifty times over but in the end it will be worth it. Thank you again for such a wonderful tutorial.
@@JoannesWeb I will give it my best. You are the one who taught me to cast on and how to hold my yarn. I am now making really nice garter stitch fingerless gloves from your tutorial. You are inspiring!
Thankyou for adding these videos onto you tube. I haven't picked a pair of needles up in 20 years. Thanks for your clear instructions. i am thoroughly enjoying my work.xx
...Because of your amazing tutorials, I’m not “afraid” of knitting anymore. I always stayed with crochet. Thank you for helping me to learn how to knit. I really enjoy it.
I have made these gloves and they're beautiful. I made them for everyone I could think of. Today I saw the mailman wearing the pair I made for him. Thank you so much for the instructions. I will keep making them and giving them away as fast as I can.
this was the first knitting project I ever tried, and still use to this day! I haven’t been knitting for a long time, maybe about a couple of years, nor am I good at it, but I remembered this tutorial recently and decided to try to find it again, so I just came here to say thanks ❤.
Beginner knitter here. I had to redo it many times but I just finished one hand and it turned out very nicely! I love this tutorial. Thanks for the video.
Very easy to understand. My first time doing knitted "cables" 😁 I made 2 pairs already for Christmas and now starting a twisted earwarmer with this stitch to go with the gloves.
Thank you so much Joanne for sharing your gift of knitting with us! I learned how to knit by watching this video right here! This stitch you teach is my favorite to use, it is easy and has a very nice look to it.
Thank u so much for your excellent tutorials! I haven't knitted for over 20 yrs and I only did the basic knitting. I started knitting again recently and just finished your Quick and Easy fingerless gloves. They turned out great so now I'm attempting to do this pattern. These gloves are beautiful and your tutorials are so easy to follow.
Love your knitting videos! I learned to knit and purl years ago. Now some 40 years later I'm getting back into it. I started making the garter stich fingerless gloves for Christmas gifts this coming year. Love this pattern. I'm sure the recipients of these gloves will be quite impressed. Thank You so much for making it look so easy!

I've made 2 pairs in the past 2 days! One exactly as you posted (11 rows) and the other with 18 rows. I love the pattern and it's so easy to do. Thanks for sharing.

So excited to give these a try. On my first attempt my Eyelet stitch and ribbing stitch didn’t line up like in the video 😞 going to give it another attempt. They look so lovely!
Hello Joanne!! Once again I have to let you know that I believe you are the best, number 1 knitting instructor on YT. Clear, concise, patient and knowledgeable and kind enough to share what you know. Best wishes to your camera girl and lovely Grandson... I am sure by now he is talking ... ;)
Here is an idea of how many stitches to use for a beanie. You can use the same amount of stitches and the 3 purls instead of 2. Just an idea. ua-cam.com/video/nTjwYlBhPCM/v-deo.html

Thank you so much for sharing this video for us to learn. I just worked up a pair for a gift, easy....and love them. Thank you for wonderful directions!
Thank you for a very clear video, you have really helped me learn how to knit. I printed the instructions from your website and watched this video several times. I have just finished the first glove, ready to start the second. And I need to watch your video on sewing side by side as I was not very neat at the end...!
I am going to make a scarf using this pattern to go with the mitts should turn out nice I have made three pairs of gloves using this pattern . With different size needles and yarn all worked up nicely. thank you .
I love love love your clear instructions!!! This will be my first attempt at a fingerless glove with some fancy work. YOU inspired me to try and know I can do it. I followed your video and I am very proud of how mine came out! Thank YoU!
I have been following a lot of your tutorials and you've taught me such a lot, I have made a few lacy scarves and hats and will be making the gloves , all being kept for xmas presents, you make it so easy and enjoyable to follow, tried other tutorials but always come back to yours, really enjoying my projects, thank you
JoannesWeb Well darn. I have lost track a few times. The yarn I'm using is pretty forgiving though ... so I'm pressing forward even though there are mistakes. I can see a few of them, but most mistakes don't show. Knitting is so addictive and such a wonderful stress reliever!!!
Thank you so much for uploading this! I've been wanting to make some finglerless mitts for my friend and have looked at about 30 patterns now and all the pretty ones are too hard or confusing for a novice. You make this so simple and easy to follow, and I can't wait to get started on them now!! I feel so relieved to have found this :)
I love knit work and I really want these! They are beautiful! I don't feel coorridinated to try this. It was also too fast for me. I would have to watch this over and over and if I loose a stitch, I would totally be lost! One hook crocheting is easier for me. Maybe I had better buy knit. lol
Thank you for your tutorials I just found your channel and I am so excited I feel I can get back into knitting again your videos are so easy to learn from as you explain so well will be making the gloves today when I go and buy the wool again thank you from Australia
Really nice. After watching this video, I feel like I could actually attempt them for gifts this year. Haven't knitted in a long while. Thank you for taking the time to describe it so well.
Beautiful! I think I will make these elbow length, as I need something to keep my forearms warm while leaving my fingers free for crocheting or knitting. Although I am a novice knitter, I believe these will be relatively simple to make. Your instruction is very clear and well presented.
I'm very happy you like them. If you make them elbow length, you might want to cast on more stitches and take off as you go towards the hand. Make the ribbing smaller, maybe only 6 rows. I do advise you to make these as they are in the instructions, since you have a pattern and it wold be a little difficult to take off stitches if you are a beginner. Be well. Happy knitting!
"Whenever you cast on , please leave a long tail because you need it to sew on".,,, awwww I wish you said that in the very beginning LOL now I have to start over :) thank you for the tutorial! Lovely !!!
I've made these and get loads of compliments. Trying to find a pattern to make a matching slouchy beanie now with the same stitch. I think I may try to adapt the pattern but just not sure how many to cast on. Thanks again.
Teri Eddy What you can do is use the same kind of yarn and needles. Measure the with of the glove and measure the head. You will now see how many stitches you need. Just make sure you have a multiple of 5 + 1. Be well! Happy Holidays!
I'm just saying... these are AMAZING. I have a pair of mittens like this that I paid huge dollars for to shoot with. Adorable pattern and a beanie, wow! Cute idea.
+JoannesWeb I have worked out the hat pattern adapted from your gloves pattern. It's knit in the round and I've only had to reverse rows 2 and 4. I posted my progress on Instagram for you to see (and tagged you). I think I've worked out the decreases in my head but I'm nearly there now so I'll see if I've imagined them correctly and will post those pics too. It will be a lovely hat/glove set once I finish. I'm going to see if I can knit the gloves in the round know too as I am adept at using the tiny 9" circulars... I will need to figure out the thumb hole, but I think I can do that too.
Tanhja Giang, JoannesWeb,thank you so much! I have made one glove already but I made it way longer, my daughter wanted in long, it came out SO ADORABLE!! Thank you for the tutorial!!
You are such a lovely person, thank you so much for sharing this. I was about to start a pair of trinity stitch mittens for my mother, but you've swayed me with this beautiful stitch. I remember knitting your pattern for the wash-cloth last year - it was my first finished piece of knitting! You're an excellent teacher, thank you again xxx
That's a pretty pattern. I dont make fingerless gloves for myself because it's always my fingers that are the coldest part of my hands. I really love that pattern and think it would be nice in other patterns too.
hello Joanne thanks for all your videos so easy to follow...I was just wondering if you can add a thumb in this pattern is it possible? keep the videos coming your a great teacher...god bless
Hi lovely lady. I just subscribed and i am knitting my first mitten. I want to insert a different color somewhere in the middle. I thought at the fifth group of 4. Hopefully it will come out great. Thank you for the tutorial you are the best! 😉
I really enjoy your tutorial, and I would like to have a written pattern to follow along with it. Can you tell me if a written pattern is available, and where I might get it. Thank you
hello! this is so beautiful! Thank you fo r this pattern, I knitted about 10 pairs; all my friends gor one as a present. I am not an experienced but I would like to try and knit a sweater for my 10 years old daughter..can I use the same pattern and ribbing? I cast on a multiple of 4+1?
Enjoy your videos 🙂. US 7 = #4.5mm. Didn't know to have a long tail left over for sewing gloves together afterwards until I'd already cast on hehe. Oh well, atleast it was just the cast on I had to redo 🙂. Thanks for the video, I'm making a pair with 70% acrylic and 30% alpaca, nice and soft.
Hi Joanne, Thank you for this lovely and helpful demonstration. I am a beginner but your instructions are very clear so I will give it a try. If I use size US8 needles will the pattern work out well? Thanks very much, Jessica G.
Hello Joanne, I love your fingerless mitts, have done several of them and give them to some friends and nieces they look so beautiful and comfy, but I was wondering if to this design it can be added a thumb and if so how can I do it? Thank you so much for sharing, I have learn with you how to knit
Here are 2 examples. With another stitch, but you can still use e the method. ua-cam.com/video/R94mSMC_B8s/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/vSyGT_i49iM/v-deo.html
Thank you so much Joanne, I will go with the Vanilla Bean Smocking, seems to be a similar pattern to go to the thumb gussets, you really make knitting so easy to learn, I was checking many videos and usually they go with 3 to 4 needles to do it, I don't think I am that experience to do it. Thanks again , I love your videos!!!
My daughter Ana is the tech savvy. I have no idea how to film or upload on our website or youtube! She created everything online. We make a very good team. Thank you for your kind comment.
Hi I love your videos very easy to follow. Can I just ask how do I stop the last knit from being saggy? I'm getting it on the end of all my rows. Thanks
Remember to knit the first stitch. Many people don't. The first stitch is always wobbly. It's it's nature. Don't concern yourself with it. It gets back into place as you keep knitting.
Hey! I just want to say, thank you so much!! I just made a pair of these gloves in gray (randomly had some leftover gray yarn) and it looks exactly like the video, thank you! :D
I love this pattern! But I want to make a dog sweater so I need it a bit wider. What are the multiples, if I cast on 41, how many to increase? Would it be multiples of 5 +1?
These gloves are easier to knit with straight needles. I will have a tutorial on how to use 4 double pointed needles and make socks or gloves. Happy knitting!
Can I do the ribbing and then just KNIT the rest and what do I do when switching to the purl side? I don't want to purl the rest. Hope I'm clear on this. Thank you .
Gloria Ault I believe you don't want to do the stitch and only do jersey, or straight stitch. (1 row of knit, 1 row of purl). That's OK. Be sure to do 4 rows of ribbing at the end to have a nice finish. Thank you, Gloria.
Thank you for the video. I have a query , I will be thankful if you will reply this. I am making it for an adult man. So tell me how many stitches I have to make. Thanks
It depends completely on his size, the yarn you are using, the needles and how you knit. You would need to make a swatch with the stitch you want to use and measure. ua-cam.com/video/Gc2cLO32MmI/v-deo.html
I am a beginner but I am feeling confident that I can do this. I may have to play the video fifty times over but in the end it will be worth it. Thank you again for such a wonderful tutorial.

Hi lovely lady. I just subscribed and i am knitting my first mitten. I want to insert a different color somewhere in the middle. I thought at the fifth group of 4. Hopefully it will come out great. Thank you for the tutorial you are the best! 😉
The instructions were so detailed, thank you for all the help ❤️
If I want to make it for my daughter (7 yrs old), how many stitches that I need?
Thanks.
Love your videos!! Excellent teacher! Thank you and keep em coming
You knit and hold the needles and yarn exactly as I do (which I'm told is unusual?) Thanks for the great tutorial, what a beautiful pattern. :)
I really enjoy your tutorial, and I would like to have a written pattern to follow along with it. Can you tell me if a written pattern is available, and where I might get it. Thank you
Sharon Lauch Underneath the tutorial, there is a sign: Show more. You click on it and the instructions appear. Thanks for watching our tutorials!

laurence Laurence. merci bien pour votre préférence, Laurence. C'est un plaisir pour moi.
hello! this is so beautiful! Thank you fo r this pattern, I knitted about 10 pairs; all my friends gor one as a present. I am not an experienced but I would like to try and knit a sweater for my 10 years old daughter..can I use the same pattern and ribbing? I cast on a multiple of 4+1?
Yes. This stitch is beautiful on a sweater. I made one once.
Hi Joanne,
Thank you for this lovely and helpful demonstration.
With another stitch, but you can still use e
the method. ua-cam.com/video/R94mSMC_B8s/v-deo.html

I love your videos, your site and your patterns! Thank you and keep up good work! 🙂
Thank you for the videos. I have learned alot from you. Can u put a thumb gusset like the one on the rice stitch gloves

LOVE IT!!!!!
Who is videoing your channel? A granddaughter or daughter maybe? They are very blessed to have you as a teacher.
I think I just found my favorite instructor. I'm hooked . Pattern is multiple of?
Thank you so much for making this beautiful gluves
Lovely. Wonder if you could use circular needles as well
These gloves are easier to knit with straight needles.
I will have a tutorial on how to use 4 double pointed needles and make socks or gloves. Happy knitting!
Fingerless gloves is very beautiful thank-you
Beautiful stitch. Could you please tell me, are you using worsted or sport weight? Do you have a written pattern link?
Thank you, they look a little difficult , but following you explanation ,Ill try to make them. God Bless
Dulce Esquibel Try them. Once you get the hang of the stitch, it's easy. Saludos.
I’ve made these and a neck warmer do you have a beanie pattern incorporating this stitch???
We don't yet, but I bet you could use the simple beanie pattern and make it with this stitch.ua-cam.com/video/ITWK8ePnnr4/v-deo.html
