I remember the 84 Olympia when Sergio Oliva Sr. held his baby son in his arms. Who would have thought that the baby son would develop such an incredible physique.
The last year this sport is getting so interesting more rivalies, better posing, less bubble guts en more historic moments. Im really excited for the rest of the year.
I remember seeing Sergio's wife hand Sergio Jr., as an infant, to Sergio Sr. on stage at the 1985 Mr. Olympia and Sergio Sr. held him up with pride saying he will be the future "myth".....and here we are in 2020. Crazy!
2024 I think it will be really hard for him to do it. He has not the best genetic, he will need to put a huge amount of mass on his legs and back hide his large waist and it will be hard to gain all this mass and be able to win this soon. Then we are not in the mass monster era anymore. If he wanna win he's got to be the new Jay Cuttler
Just announced that the food intended for Arnold Classic attendees was shipped to Nashville to feed first responders for the tornado disaster. They even sent chefs to prepare the food & serve it.
pecdude remember that everyone handles the pressures of stardom differently. He probably has thousands of voices speaking his way daily. Not everyone can shut the noise out. Specially Sergio, the dark side of social media has turned him very bitter at times and he lashes out in a unique way. It’s understandable though, how do you even prepare for that? The dude was born into a family that left a big legacy behind. So Sergio has always been viewed from a unique perspective. I’m sure he will grow and mature overtime... these are growing pains he’s experiencing.
you can tell how much this meant to Sergio. Huge fan of him and his physique. He has a crazy work ethic and he’s doing what’s necessary to become a champion. Huge respect.
If he can gain another 10 lbs of muscle and get that back up , he will be the next consecutive Olympian ! He has a fantastic look man idk how or why he shouldn’t !
Sergio Jr's free posing routine was a true blending of art and athleticism, the way bodybuilding used to be. Guys like Mohamed Makkawy, Frank Zane, Ed Corney, even Arnold and Franco (remember the scene at the beginning of Pumping Iron when they were taking ballet lessons?) put a lot of thought and effort into their posing routines to make it graceful, dramatic and entertaining, as opposed to just stomping back and forth across the stage and hitting random muscle shots (while begging for applause).
To be honest, even though I dislike his physique, especially his laaaaaarge waist. He did exactly what he said, even more. I think he was kinda triggered by the Patrick Moore trend but when it comes to show up on stage he did the job while Patrick did not
I’ve been a bodybuilder and fan since I first saw Tom Platz on the wall of my YMCA in 1987. This story and the charismatic exchange between Arnold and Sergeo was new pure bodybuilding history! Love it!
This was very touching. Being a lifelong bodybuilding enthusiast, this moment was absolutely priceless. The Great Oak giving praise to the son of his greatest rival ❤️
What a moment!! It's good to see both Sergio Oliva Jr bringing back the art of bodybuilding, and Arnold acknowledging his rivals son and his fantastic achievement.
Didn't think too much of him before the show but he delivered the goods and deserves the applause he's getting. It's good to see somebody putting the emphasis back on posing. What a historic moment!
This brought tears to my eyes as I was a big fan of his father and actually personally met Sergio Sr in person and was part of a promoter's team to have Sergio Sr guest pose in Burbank Ca . To see Sergio Jr love and honor his father's legacy as " The Myth " and stand with the Great Arnold Schwarzenegger in a true sentimental moment warmed my heart and brought the era to flow in my blood like the kick back I need every day as a elder bodybuilder myself 🙏
Congratulations to Sergio on being recognized for his outstanding posing routines and fantastic improvement in his physique. He came in under the radar and made a huge impact on the stage. My whom doubted him were quickly silenced. Sergio will be a force to be reckoned with. His presence on the stage speaks volumes. Overall Arnold Classic was a great show and had a lot of wow factors. Hats off to all the athletes who graced the stage and gave their one hundred percent!!
Sam Almond agreed. I wonder what he was thinking at that moment. Perhaps he was thinking that Sergio JR could be the future Mr. Olympia in a few years.
Great stuff! I got to see Sergio Sr. guest pose in Florida just before the 85 Olympia. I was taught how to pose by Rafael Guerrero who was Sergio's Olympic Weightlifting coach in Cuba. It warms my heart to see the connection between Arnold and Jr. That was Bodybuilding History magic.
Sergio has really good charisma for the sport , That is the golden bodybuilding age charisma 👨👨👦👦 like family ; after Dorian everything changed everyone wanted to be quite like Dorian . Sergio deserves all the best , blessings !
That's my big brother and he's a great guy. He over came and went through a lot as kid and in his dad's old school and cop ways lol he making everyone proud and he won't stop ✊💪
Moore has Moore potential. Sergios waist isn’t aesthetically pleasing unfortunately he wasn’t blessed with his fathers waist. Patric more by far has the most potential he just needs to nail everything, size, and condition
What a moment for Sergio. His & Arnold's happiness is indescribable. Wish to see him as a Mr Olympia. He looked great so it means he can do it sooner. #bodybuilding fan #history lover just like Nick
Amazing story to be told. I’m so glad he won this award and I love how emotional they both were. This is what bodybuilding is all about. I hope everyone enjoyed seeing this as much as I did. And thank you nick for bringing this video. Your the only fitness channel I’ll watch other then Eddie hall and Bryan Shaw. Much love from NOLA
I really want Sergio to be great because of his story. Until this show he was just disappointing, but with the massive improvements he made I am happy. His physique is somewhat similar to his dad, but he is not his dad. He is a great bodybuilder with his own unique physique.
its good to point out that sergio never wanted his son to be a bodybuilder, thats why he said "i don't know" and asked arnold to do his pose, cuz that he was certain that his dad would like
I’m happy for Sergio Olivia Jr., that was a great moment for him. His posing routine was great. You could tell that he put a lot thought, time, and practice into that routine. He deserved to win best poser. The bodybuilders do need to put more thought, and effort into their posing routines, like the bodybuilders from the 70’s and 80’s did.
Probably the 20th time I have watched this. Kind of gives you chills, when Arnold tells Segio, 50 years ago I was posing next to your father, here in Columbus.
A truly historic moment in bodybuilding history.

Wow.
As a native Nashvillian, thank you all and the city thank you. Nashville strong!
God bless Arnold
That's the kind of thing that Arnold does without ever seeking any attention for it, he really is a great guy.
@abortioncritical why go out of your way to sound illiterate ?? It's "should have".

Agreed. He just needs to bring up his chest. It ends up looking smooth in the most muscular and flat in the victory pose.
Sergio has one of the best improvements. I think he deserves the best poser award.
