Hey everyone, so the porch roofs keep being brought up, as to why I didn't clean them. There's a couple of reasons why I didn't, even though I really wanted too. Even though you and I might think it looks better, some people don't like the look of spotlessly clean roof tiles, or are dead against pressure washing roofs, so I will only ever clean what I have been hired/asked to clean. Many years ago, when cleaning a patio, I cleaned an old, lichen, moss covered bench for a customer, thinking I was doing her a favour. The customer came out and was extremely upset with me, almost to the point of tears, as she loved the old weathered look of her bench that had taken years to get that way, and was devastated that I had cleaned it to look like something she could buy from any garden centre - her words not mine. Needless to say I was mortified, and ended up reducing her bill considerably to make up for what I had done. So, lesson learnt, I never clean anything without the say so of the customer. Also, if I had cleaned the porch roofs, the tiles would have looked different to the main house roof, and would have stood out quite a lot. Yes the porch roof would look good if you're only looking at that area next to the newly cleaned brickwork, but from a distance, if looking at the whole house, the different appearance of the tiles, especially the colour, would look odd, as people would look at the porch and wonder why they are the same tiles as the main roof but look different, especially the colour. My way of thinking is that if the tiles are left as is, they match the look and colour of the main roof, and don't stand out. I'm pretty sure this is why the customers didn't ask to have it cleaned either . I hope this is a satisfactory explanation for everyone, and you can understand why I left the porch roofs alone, even though i completely understand why so many are questioning it. Many thanks, Nick. 🙂
Oh gosh I wasn’t saying why didn’t YOU clean them no no no! It’s the customers that I wondered why. I’m so sorry if you thought I said otherwise! You do such an amazing job always 👍
We all know that you stick diligently to what the customer told you to clean, so of course it's about why that wasn't ordered too and not about you 😊 I'd like to ask the others here if any of you saw the 'pinned' comment at the top. I personally had to scroll a lot and search manually for it.
Nick I've got so used to what you do and often how, a lot of the times why. If you've not done something I know it's for a damned good reason, hence never questioning you. You usually explain by written narration or verbal. As always I enjoyed this video and appreciate very much what you do. Thank you.
Hi Carol, thank you. The customer expressed no interest in having their roof(s) cleaned. There are a couple of reasons why I didn't clean them, please read my pinned comment at the top of the comments as to why.
There is something so soothing, so AMSR watching you clean the brick work. It slowly transforms into a clean wall and it's so satisfying. I never tire of it. KUDOS
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning Makes sense and I hope that you didn't think I was being rude about it. I was meaning that if I was getting this done, I would have asked for it all to be done.
@@richieh92 Hi Richie, no not at all, you were giving your opinion in a friendly, constructive way, and I completely understand and respect your way of thinking. Lots of people were thinking exactly the same as you, so rather than answer the same comment lots of times, I thought it might be better to answer everyone in one go. I have had a couple of unfriendly comments about it, but they've just been deleted and blocked. Thanks again for your input, and friendly manner, it's much appreciated ❤
Oof read your pinned comment I know that had to be a gut punch thinking you were doing that lady a favor and she was upset. I agree if you’re not doing the roof too those little porch roofs would’ve stood out like a sore thumb. I always thought when houses looked black like that it was from soot from a fireplace. Didn’t realize it was fungus. You showed those fun guys who was boss 😂 Great job Nick! ❤
Glad you got some nice work to do, you know the area will upgrade as you get places close by. I would consider finagling the entrance roofs in, even if you don't biocide, because they have such an effect in standing out when the rest is clean. (Sorry the GoPro glitched. Tend to think of them going bonkers in hot weather, or falling over in wind, but that is not good that in other conditions you still had problems.) Impressive sometimes how much grime inadvertently accumulates. The work on the garage clearly showed a remarkable difference from grubby to clean. There is also the pleasure in having created tools, as a steam cleaner and turbo nozzle, extending poles, that make it really possible. Wow, the after photos are incredible.
I am so happy to see these homes being reutilized. I fondly remember them years ago when stationed overseas and a few were being used for some of the civilian personnel working at Lakenheath, Feltwell, and Mildenhall .
Hi Nick another great content video I think had of been the customer I would have requested that you incorporated the porch tiles within the job and priced to include that area, despite main roof needing to be done the porch would have completed the good look you gave to the walls.
Even before you started working, it looked like the masons that built these places used two different kinds of brick and different colored mortar on certain areas of the structure. Is that the case, Nick, or is that just an optical illusion? OR, is that an effect of weathering? Nice work, by the way! 👍👍 Very satisfying to behold. Great channel. Greetings from across the (verifiably level) "pond". 🙂
What a terrific job. The instantaneous difference after hitting the brick with steam-and-water was amazing. Now the new owners should get you back to to their roofs and walkways! Congratulations on a job well done. I always learn something watching your videos; thank you.
Wonderful work! What type of pole is that as I have a 3 story home with lots of mortar smearing that my extension pole does not cut it. Thanks and keep cleaning up!
It would have been perfect if that porch roof had been power washed too, wondering why it was not included since it's not big..did the owner refuse to have it done?? How sad..it looks ugly..but you did a great job on the wall 👍👍👍🥰
Looks so much better. Is there a reason why you didn’t clean the entry way roof? Are you going back to clean roof and walkways? That would really make the house pop.

That building had quite the colorful life. Lots of brick patches, like when different windows were fitted in. Very uneven but it reminds me of the scars we all have 😊 The result is very nice! Though it itches in my hands to see the little roofs cleaned, too, as they now stick out 😅 What kind of bricks are these? That's a color which you don't find here.
