I drove for Nullabor Traveller for a couple of years. Bug storms (locusts) are pretty common. Having to clean the bus after was always a pain. Amazing part of the world though, I never got bored with it. Esperance and Cape Le Grand are possibly the most beautiful beaches in the world. Now I want to go back.
There is always ‘something’ isn’t there, that tests your patience?! Thankfully you both have such a great attitude to setbacks which keep you (and us) smiling.
We have fingers, toes and everything else crossed that once Vance is fixed this time, you won’t have any more mechanical issues, so you can just concentrate on enjoying beautiful WA. Full marks for keeping smiling and positive. 👍👏
Happy belated bday Glenn. If you guys need shower or stop somewhere for park. You can stop at our house in mandurah. Just message me. Enjoy travelling in WA
Gotta love the driver finger salute 👆 Gotta love the 🦗's too. Did you know Wharton Beach is the scene of a number of shark attacks? Happy Birthday Glenn🎂 Good luck with Vance.
Welcome to WA. Wishing smooth sailing from here for you. There is a lot of miles of nothing in WA but when you reach each destination place, it is worth the miles. We have had a very hot summer but are definitely sliding fast into the cooler autumn now. Don’t forget Margaret river, Dunsborough etc. Happy Birthday Glenn
So, it seems you got your "locust invasion" experience. I've driven the Nullabor 8 times and not once have I been bored. First time was in 1969 with 320 MILES of gravel from from SA to the WA border, We went to an Australian sailing championship from Cairns. We travelled 3904 miles in 4 days. I must say that you van picked a very nice spot to break down. I think the south-west of WA is my favourite area in all of Australia. I did the vanlife thing from 2007 to 2017 and have seen most of Australia. I sold my last van (A converted Caddy Maxi) in 2017 after a cancer diagnosis but this didn't stop me as I went to Tassie and hired a van for 28 days. So happy I did because Tassie is one beautiful place.
Greetings from Finland, are you sure Vance has the right drive safts? Early T3 models (all air cooled and first diesels) has longer safts than later models (from 1983->). You can install the later model shorter drive shafts in to early T3 but it might limit suspension travel and sooner or later something happens (lock ring gives up and CV-joint starts to slide away of the shaft). It's not easy to recognize the older drive shaft from the newer because CV-joints are the same, only the shaft length is different (spare part catalogue says earlier 543 - 548 mm and later 537 - 541 mm). Hope you get back to the road soon and post more these cool videos!
I've just had to trust the company in which I order the parts through. They are specifically early model drive shafts so i would hope they are the correct dimensions. Thanks for the heads up though :)
Thanks I didn't know that either. I've got an '83 air cooled. I think that the Porsche 930 CV Axle kit is the way to go with these vans. burleymotorsports.net/product/930-cv-axle-kit-rear/
So sorry to hear you broke down. I had my CV joints fixed and the mechanic didn't tighten the bolts, so they broke off one at a time. Left me and the family by the side of the freeway. We had to get towed back to my mechanic. If you were missing bolts, you might be able to steal bolts from one side to use on the other. That would get you some distance if you drove slow. Owning a slack line of your own and two shackles might be worth it.
Oh and in that last shot, Kendall, you gave us the look of "Pigeons could roost on that lip!"... Been great following your journey. Could have been a lot worse places to break down. See-ya next time.
Love you guys. Keep giving those 👍's. 'Spoiler alert': your insta posts have been so much fun and show you have perfected making lemonade from all the lemons Vance has been giving you. Your smiles are contagious!
Those beaches and the colour of the sea just blows me away, breakdowns are annoying especially when you’ve put the work in to try to prevent them.I work with new vehicles in the UK and you would not believe the amount of new cars that also breakdown so it’s not just old vw’s.Vance will soon be up and running 👍
If you have to be stuck somewhere this looks beautiful! What car insurance and roadside assist do you guys have? I'm about to go on the road and still deciding on who to go with any tips appreciated!
@@KendallandGlenn Thanks for the reply first channel that has actually responded! Only discovered you a few days ago have been getting through your vids...loving them!
Thanks, another great video. If you get a chance check movie the mango tree. If you have a library card. You can get audio books. The librarian gave me a card. Borrow box. Overland travellers talk on one of there videos. Bill Bryson Australian travel you will need to check the name. It gave them place they been.
Well, you could be stuck in worse places !!!. I guess the bottom line is that you Guys are just going to stop having Birthdays !! :-)). Striking adversity along the way, is not only character building, but it really makes you appreciate the great times even more. Don't be too disappointed in your lot, it still beats a good day at work !!!!!!. Keep smiling and stay safe, take care, Cheers.

Par boil your spuds in sea water. Then cut and fry your spuds. It will make them crispy.
That water!!! At least Vance breaks down in some beautiful places 😂🙌🏼
He is dramatic but he does still have standards 😂💁🏼♀️

That is a really disgusting quantity of bugs. Miss our ‘89 Vanagon and the many great adventures it took us on!
