This was incredibly powerful to hear the first time. My character was about to get knighted in the game. Suddenly, a trap is sprung and everyone around is turned into an undead. I try in vain to save as many people as I can, but the vampires and Wraiths are too powerful. I have no choice but to head into the safe room with one of the Neverwinter nine. Us and I think a dwarf were the only ones that survived. It was one of the most memorable disasters I experienced in any video game I played at the time. And definitely left an impact on me. The music was part of what made it such, this track was playing then. Before that moment in the game, I felt like I could handle most my enemies, this music track made it feel like something was different, like everything that came before this moment was merely fluff, and this was an actual danger... The musical genius who made this score must be praised cuddos to them!
This battle is really tough if you haven't prepared well. You go up against BG who is a level 20 Wizard and Level 17 Cleric, then you go against the KoS who is a Level 20 Outsider and Level 20 Warlock. Savage to say the least.
Actually, KoS is a Lvl20 Outsider, Lvl10 Frenzied Berserker, and Lvl10 Warlock. Should've also been a Lvl10 Shadowdancer, since they use shadow magic, which is from the Plane Of Shadow.
I love NWN2 so much is because the game is BALANCED! It's all based on virtual dice and numbers, and it's fast-round based. Which I love. I have playing games where the mobs and NPCs attack every billion years. It's frustrating and makes it super boring. That's why I love the Neverwinter Games so much. I don't care how old they are. They will always have a special place in my heart as one of the first real video games I played.
This battle was very epic and frickin tough! The music was awesome. I also loved how all your companions were in the battle with you. That like never happens in a companion based rpg. It was a lot more micro managing but I didn't mind at all because everyone had a role to play. I've played NWN2 so many times that I already had a strategy in place to battle the KOS but it was difficult every time.
+Mikko S. agreed, not a very creative story in terms of the overall plot, but the way it unfolds as you play and as it is told through all the cut scenes and characters interactions is brilliant, and even more mind numbing due to the amazing soundtrack.
Skijaramaz - Tone Shift Yeah, this theme was used for every battle encounter you had in The King of Shadows fortress in Meredelain lol. Still a great song and very appropriate for the KOS.
This battle was amazing :) not felt as engaged in a final fight since forever! The whole game was epic. Just sad the companions as always with this company didn't transfer to the sequel
I agree with you. It was a really tough fight too. I loved that all of the companions were there for the fight and even had some of their loyalties tested. Neeshka for me proved to be true to me and my group lol. I know a lot of people had her betray them so I was thrilled she didn't betray me.
i remember this games i always used the mod that add more playable race like i was always playing as yuan-ti halfblood as in the principale campaign against king of shadow i a chose everytime to join him at side and betrayal all my followers.

Harborman has large balls

Fantastic game. One of the 10 best RPG's of all time. The add-on Mask of the Betrayer is brilliant too.
Yeah, the story's one of a kind, even if the theme is really generic.

+Mikko S. MoTB is just a lot darker, it takes place in a much darker region in Faerun.
MotB is legendarily good.
I love it, got me out of a rut when I was 10 and got me into RPG’s 😋
Ancient Illefarn and the Githyanki disliked this.
Everyone has his battle theme, but nobody has the King of Shadows' theme for when you're talking to him.

This has to be my favorite song from the entire game, EPs included.

It was because of some bug in old versions, I believe. Her betrayal, I mean.
Campaign was the big advantage of this game. One of the best, where i played.
You can always get the Complete edition you know? that's what I have.it has all of the Neverwinter Nights games in it including Mysteries of Westgate.

this game is soo subestimated
somehow i never reached the king of shadows. twice the game crashed at the underground place where neeshka is taken away :\
It happened to me too. I turned off al the shadows in the graphic settings and I was fine after that.
I have three of them I have yet to get mysteries of westgate but I will when I can.
honestly i'm a huge neverwinter nights fan but i have never beat NWN 2
neverwinter in 2016
like if you got flashbacks too!
It is you, i know why you have come
I'm the other way around

Idk about balanced though, my playthrough with my Wizard in Mask of the betrayer was annoying af, i had to spam high lvl spells every damn fight
It can't be balanced. It has Clerics.
