I CAPTURED a Picture of Pluto!

- My mission was to capture a picture of the planet Pluto with my home telescope.
Pluto is currently 3.1455 billion mi away from Earth.
My Explore Scientific 127mm telescope is not meant to find such small and far-reaching planets, but I had a plan.
I pointed to an area where I thought Pluto would be and captured 30 minutes of exposure time. Then I captured 30 again on the next night and flipped between the two pictures.
If one of these objects moves? Then that must be Pluto.
And then I saw it, at the very top - and it moved by the exact amount I would have expected.
Mission accomplished!

Chuck,
What is the farthest object you have ever captured???
You are awesome
Nice
@@themoonwiththesunglasses4547 Nearly 1 billion light years away.
That’s an incredible use of astrophysics!! Great stuff.
Thank you!
Incredible? Really? Lol
His photos are fascinating!
@Aniket for a home telescope YES it’s incredible
That's astronomy
Nice!!! very nice! That's essentially how it was found in the first place.
Right, and this is how they still find comets.
@@ChucksAstrophotography so how do you know that that wasnt a comet. I'm just curious
On my birthday February 18th but in 1930, long before I was born.
@@shritannagothu
Because he knows where Pluto is located.
No other object moved.
The guy found it in Flagstaff, Arizona at the Lowell Observatory 😅 been there and seen the telescope/office he found it in. It's really cool
This two photos are the best thing I have seen today.❤️
Awesome!
That’s kind of pathetic, what a lame life. 🤣
Yet it won't get as many views as a females tiktok video 🤣
Yep
@@SgtMars what did you achieve in life that's so great
This is actually how Pluto was discovered, this is really cool
Was it now
I really like the beautiful images, but this is extremely cool. Good stuff
Awesome, thanks!
Yo chuck this week i was able to use my telescope for the first time and see the moon! Didn't get any pictures but damn is was beautiful 🌒❤️❤️🥺
Awesome!
Me too, it felt soo weird like I was out of this world, truly surreal feeling!
You guys have telescope??
@@aditisharma8070 yes? I mean that’s what they said.
@@aditisharma8070my friend has one, it's so cool looking at the planets and their moons
Great plan Chuck 👍👍...it totally worked! Another job well done!
Thanks Michele
That's so amazing! Following you on your celestial adventures is very fun and eye opening!
Thanks Jonny!
Now this is amazing, great hobbies like theses are so underrated.
Imagine seeing Pluto with a telescope. That’s literally insane like your looking at something that is a billion miles away. It’s truly phenomenal
You do realize how far away the stars are... right? Lol
You realize how bright the stars are…right
@@C.H872 indeed I do
@MatthewStaufer...And yet, you still decided to troll...
P.S. Our star, the Sun, holds 98% of our solar systems mass. Wonder how big that makes Pluto?
@@codymoe4986 I wasn't trolling, just a little sarcastic. The person lamented how impressed they were that you could see an object with a backyard telescope that is 3,281,000,000 miles away. I was just pointing that it's even crazier that you can see much further objects with the naked eye. The nearest star you can see, 42,460,000,000,000 miles away. The furthest thing you can see, Andromeda... 14,910,000,000,000,000,000 miles.
That's incredible! Way to go!
Thanks!
I have to say that is a hell lot of work and focus.. 👏👏
Yes, but so much fun!
Wow that's amazing! I never knew you could see Pluto move like that!🌌🔭
I wish I could have tracked it for 24 hours straight, but I would need to have my telescope in space.
@@ChucksAstrophotography how do you know it’s not another planet?
“The movement has more to do with Earth’s orbital motion than Pluto’s.”
I love it.
You're very good at this and extremely patient
Chuck, what a great catch. Loved the strategy getting it. Well done.
Thanks Perry!
Your short videos were really producing a relaxing vibe. I really enjoyed it while gaining some great knowledges.
You eyes are incredible camera...
Chuck 😁👍
I try, lol
I love your images. I love your enthusiasm. I am very interested in your posts. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
So cool 😎 nice way to take charge!
Thanks!
Good astronomical photographs demand such dedication and attention to detail that very few of us have the ability or the time to do. I have to appreciate someone that can do this and do it well.
Brilliant work man!
Thanks!
Chuck: Calls Pluto a planet
“NASA would like to know your location”
I'm in the witness protection program!
@@ChucksAstrophotography nice!
NASA calls it a planet too, actually. It’s the IAU that disagrees :P
A dwarf PLANET is still a planet...
Since NASA cant figure out the gas giants are captured dwarf stars everything should just be a planet.
Great job man 😉👍
Thanks Simon!
Just like how Clyde Tombaugh first discovered Pluto.
Right, but he accomplished it with much less sophisticated equipment.
Nice job using astrophysics Chuck!
Thanks!
You are a first man to capture Pluto with special technique. You made history.
Mission Pluto.
I believe this is the exact way the Pluto was initially discovered...
The technique isn't new...
Awesome!
Thanks!
Clever! Keep up the great work I enjoy watching your content
Magnificent captures!
Thanks!
Congrats bro 🔥🔥
Great capture
That's so pretty💜. Nowadays I am so into space, planet and galaxies... Feels like I am going back to my child where I explore night skies with so much curiosity and love... Missing those days...
That’s awesome Chuck, what a brilliant idea, nailed it!👍
Congrats chuck looking forward to more space content
So cool Chuck thank you for sharing
To capture an object that far and that faint takes some doing! Great Chuck! ❤
I love how he's casually searching for Pluto with a torch😂
Wow! That’s an amazing capture! Well done
How did u even find that lil spot
Hard work great job man❤👏
Nice solution! I must say that Pluto is much brighter than I expected, considering the distance involved. Cool!
Thanks Paul!
That's amazing dude!!
Glad you think so!
Nice job Chuck!
Perfect! Thanks 🙂🇸🇰✌🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
Nice photo of Pluto you took at the beginning of the video.
well done superb 👏
Thanks a lot 😊
Wow.
Just a request. Can you capture any meteor shower?
I never tried that before, it's on my list.
How is this man not at 10 mil subs by now cmon man.
You're bloody brilliant Chuck!
Hey thanks!
God's Wonders! He gave you those talents to capture it. Beautiful job
Truly amazing Gods work is.
Right on! That's so cool!👍🏾
Congratulations on your photos!! The furthest planet in our solar system!! Thank you for all your videos!! Your work is outta this WORLD!!!! sorry..I had to!!😉😂😂😂
Amazing Picture. Merry Christmas Chuck!
Chuck...
As Louis Satchmo Armstrong would say
" if lots more of us loved each other, we'd solve lots more problems... and then this world would be a gasser "
💜🧔💜🖖🙏✌️
When i was young i didn't know that when you get a picture of space it is not like looking through a binocular. You literally have to spend a lot of time to separate each dots ( space objects) by various means to make a difference in them. It is much harder to navigate in space than in earth even without any modern knowledge
Would sit there all night watching this stuff. Brilliant... 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I so happy that that Pluto is called a planet. As it should be.😊
Good job, I love outer space and wish to be a astronaut.
I would love to discover something like that!
Yay! Our little Pluto! Made my rainy day! Excellent capture Chuck! ❤️👍🏼😁🌌🔭
That is great accomplishment. i found Neptün by chance. Pluto far far away and son tiny for an amateur and equipment. You ve made it. Thanks for your share.
You're the hero we all need!
Planet Pluto indeed. My man
Your really very good at this whenever one of your shorts come I just know I'm going to see or learn something different and as for this video yet again you don't disappoint
To see you capture PLUTO with your home telescope really is impressive good on you .
Tell me I have a celestron 4* do you think it wld be possible to capture PLUTO with this ? Regards U.K
I am amazed by the level of patience you have
You are doing a great job for those who are so curious about seeing space celestial bodies thank you so much
You first zoomed in the middle😂
I thought that was Pluto..
Then u shifted up...n I was like....oh...yeah...that is Pluto..😂
Good job!
Crazy how almost no blur is captured, knowing that these telescopes are motorized and also wind and natural variables
That is so cool bro. I also do astrophotography with my phone, The photos actually turn out great!
That is impressive! Congratulations :)
Even tho its small its still amazing to see
“Well y’all might as well just like that thing hit AHAHA” Had me dying bruh
You have the best telescope you have I love the dwarf planet Pluto! Thank you for making my day 😊
Dude that's so smart applying concept knowledge
My grandmother dated Clyde Tombaugh!
Wow..... Great idea.... Subscribed... & I will definitely try that 😍
Nicely done 😊
Great work
I wonder if you know how cool of a dude you are Chuck! Thanks man!
I do like your channel....and someone that correctly calls Pluto a planet.....I applaud you....
Wow! Great work on finding it
Congratulations 🎉
Mission Accomplished man😍❤️❤️
I captured Pluto too Chuck! One of the least spectacular images ever but I was really glad to figure out which faint object it was!
That's cool, Martyn. I wasn't sure how to figure out which one Pluto is without capturing two days in a row.
Right on chuck!
Awesome pic! This is the exact way Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto in 1930 at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. Of course, he had a large telescope (it was actually homemade) and a film plate and blink comparator to find it, but digital camera technology with small telescopes has far surpassed even what he had back then.
when you love astrophotography but dont have a quater to buy telescope.
Astrology is crazy shit. You mean astrophotography
@@Adrift555 oh thanks , i will edit
Way to Go. Keep up the great work.
Nice one! In the UK you’d be taking these 2 pictures at least a month apart. I don’t remember when we had 2 clear sky nights in a row last 😭
I love being around people who think like you do. This is how you do science, with ingenuity and resourcefulness. Amazing work, Chuck!
I subscribed yesterday 😃😃😃
I don't know how you make these videos that all take a lot of time, and skill as often as you do but they are great!
I wish I could make more.
Your doing great just like it is! These videos make people like me so interested in space and inspire whole new groups of people to want to learn more.
Even 2 photos are so incredibly interesting
Literally like how animations are
damn, this brings tears. if you love space, i suggest you people to watch to Dr.stone anime, it's sci-fi anime and it's so good. you'll not regret watching it.
Ceres is also a dwarf planet that can easily be seen though binoculars. Vesta is another example.
I love that this is how most planets were found in history. Someone did the calculations, then observed the same patch of night sky looking for differences in the stars
woohoo!! Great job!! Pluto is still my guiding planet!!
Just incredible, amazing, supercool and beyond!
Good job chuck great work!
Amazing as always chuck!!
Thank you!
@@ChucksAstrophotography no....thank YOU for sharing.
