If I remember right, Ramsay started off as either a server or a busser. He's kind to the servers consistently because he knows what customers expect from them while also knowing what chefs expect, too.
He’s been a waiter and pot washer before. He talks about it more on the UK version. I remember specifically an episode where the pot washer was teenage guy and Gordon convinced the guy and owner for him to be a cook instead because he was talented. Gordon even said it’s how he started. Another episode was about a vegetarian restaurant in Paris where he opened the place for lunch completely alone, cooking and serving by himself. A different episode he and a maitre d’ from one of his restaurants trained all the waiters to carve chicken and just generally trained a waiter that couldn’t read specials at all 😂
@@goblin.2618 that episode with the vegetarian place in Paris was so disappointing. all that potential and Gordon trying his best to help out, inspiring the cook to try more things, and then the owner just flakes and calls it quits. even worse because the whole place was bought with her dad's money and he was having to bail her out. at least Gordon got the cook some help to go on in her career
I read his book. He did all the work before being a chef. He worked so hard in France for hardly anything, he had malnutrition. He definitely earned his right to criticise.
it's probably why he often makes the cooks go take orders in the dining room in hell's kitchen, it's an important part of the process and a lot of these cooks never started from the bottom. they need to learn to respect their waiters and be personable to the customers
There's a guy who died from eating pasta that was left out at room temperature for 5 days in his own home... but leaving food out for weeks in open air at a restaurant for weeks. That's terrifying, honestly.
my dorm mate in college was one of those people who ate raw steaks. we went to a ponderosa steak house, where you went through a line like a cafeteria. (this was in 1974) first, you chose your type of steak and how you wanted it cooked. as you slid your tray to the sides, you could see your steak cooking. my roommate ordered his steak very rare. after about a minute had passed i heard him telling the cook to flip his steak. the cook asked him if he was serious and he told him he was. after about the same amount of time had passed and he told the cook that it was done. the cook put it on a plate and handed it to him. at the table, when he sliced into his steak blood gushed out. this was the first time we ate together outside the dorm cafeteria and it was the last time we ate together outside the dorm cafeteria. it freaked me out and it was nauseating to watch. at the time, i always got my steaks well done. my parents always cooked steaks well. it wasn’t cooked to leather but there was absolutely no blood nor even the slightest amount of pink in the middle of the steaks. now, i can eat steaks cooked to the point where the meat is deep pink but hasn’t quite reached the point where there is more red than pink.
The moment that lives rent-free in my head is when the food is so gross, he looks to the camera operator and says, 'you just sit there and watch me; here try this' and the camera shakes a 'no.' Then he offers the next camera and it shakes 'no' as well 😆

Hi Ken, If people want to order steak that's practically raw, they should order it 'Blue', if you look up blue steak you'll see it's just a sear, but raw inside. I don't think anyone would consider what Ramsay was given "Medium Rare"
True, it's pretty crazy how absolutely sterile food processing plants are, only to end up in a kitchen like this getting tainted before it reaches anyone's mouth. I love being a chef at home. It's nice to know my hands are washed and cross contamination isn't occuring. I ate out once in 2021 and the break from my eating habit threw me into food sickness. Since then the only thing I will accept is a frozen bar pizza to make my drunk tummy stop mumbling. Restaurants are scary
6:50 my uncle is in his 70's and has always said he likes his steak "just run it through a hot kitchen, and i'll eat it." and i always thought that was gross.
Idk why but I’ve been binge watch Hell’s Kitchen and master chef for the past week and now you upload a video on Gordon? The universe is singing to me!!!
The saddest part is that there are so many restaurants that are better scale that have equally disgusting kitchens. The bosses I have had that treated their business’s as second homes had the ability to totally lose perspective in situations and that’s not a good thing ever.
i'm not sure if people would find it disgusting but whenever the trash bins outside were full and we couldnt stuff it with more rubbish bags........they'd make us put the bags in the walk in fridge until the bins got emptied. it was definitely something i was grossed out about lol
I can attest to this. I’ve worked at a few places that seem nice on the outside but the walls in the kitchen are caked with grease that doesn’t get cleaned right and the vent hoods are the same way. Sometimes you’d find raw meat that was dropped and left under a grill or table that has been there for days easily. And if you brought it up to management they’d just be like “oh… gross” and leave it at that. In my experience, it’s mostly owners that don’t really care/know how to run a kitchen
I worked at a fancy place that did a dessert display using fresh desserts on a big silver tray. We had to lug that thing around to show guests at the end of their meal, and the longest those desserts stayed on the tray was 3 days...AND it was kept in the walk-in cooler when we weren't showing it around.
That meat they served him is my worst nightmare I can’t stand anything less than fully cooked 😅😂. I know I won’t but I feel like I’m gonna get some disease like with Salmonella with chicken.
"I don't know wether to laugh or cry." You bout to get idiot-sandwiched by THE RAMSEY. I would put on your turbo shoes and get the heck outta there. 🤣🤣🤣
Ive worked in kitchens for 11 years. When i see his solo videos teaching how to do a dish, im like trying so hard to follow along. But then i saw him scream at jimmy kimmel trying to teach him to prepare the SAME EXACT DISH and i was like "OOOHHH THATS what he was saying" and i Learned it way better 😂
Now I love a blue steak. (Very rare) but I refuse to order a blue steak unless it’s from a well known/well rated restaurant. Would I order one from here? Nope 😂
I have watched this clip at least ten times but I’ve never laughed that this hard at it! The editing and Ken being genuinely disgusted and Dane’s optimism and jokes about the background like the big ol ladle. And his face at seeing the meat be cut. Perfection
Recipe ideas coming to chefs in dreams isn’t actually all that uncommon. When I worked in fine dining, I used to keep a journal next to my bed to write dream recipes in before I’d forget the dream. Pretty much a dream journal, but for the foods I’d dream up. A few made it to menus. One helped a restaurant get a Michelin star this year.
Yeah but that's reams coming to a CHEF, the man in this video is not a chef, he's a manager of chefs, he doesn't know about food, as someone else statred clearly, so his dreams are based on no knowledge of how food works, they were just random. I've had dreams abotu amazing geological formations that don't exist, but I'm not e geologist so I can't just pretend my dreams are realistic because I enjoyed the experience. I've had dreams where I can fly through the universe like a video game selecting which planet I want to go to next by pointing with my finger, but I'm not an astrophysicist so my dreams are probably not accurate to real life and how things actually work. I've had dreams about songs I wanted to write, but I can't write music, I've tried and the songs I tried to make would annoy people and never be considered good music, having a dream about something means nothing if you don't have the skill to actually implement it or to even know it won't work. You, as a chef or at least someone who knows food and how to cook, if you dreamed of a sauce that was ridiculous and tasted nasty, would understand that and not replicate that dream. He has a dream and doesn't even think twice about how it would taste and just whipped it up, or made his chefs whip it up for him, because if he dreamed it it has to taste good, instead of actually assessing whether it's a good idea or not, since he has nothing to gague that against with his lack of skill and wherewithal on the subject.
Yeah, it isn't that ridiculous as it is portrayed to be. Dreams are very weird. I get some of my writing prompts based on my dreams sometimes. Perfectly realistic a chef who is thinking about new recipes everyday will dream about some new things once in a while. I'm not really a writer by trade either, him being a manager isn't really that damning of an evidence the food will be bad. (It is.) Cooking isn't very technical, of course it can be if you go to school like Ramsay did, my Mom (not a chef) can cook good food just as good as trained chefs.
I come from a family of cowboys and that’s the perfect steak to my grandfather 💀 when he ordered, he would say “rip off the horns, kick it in the @$$, and stick it on my plate”
I remember as a kid in the late 80s early 90s going to steak houses as a family and my dad ordering steak rare with a side of horse radish. The fat would still be white and my dad loved it. One day we went to a steak house and the server told my dad that they no longer served rare meat, he was so pissed! Sometime in the early 90s restaurants were no longer allowed to serve meat under medium rare. There's a reason for that.
I think it’s still like that in the beginning of my 20’s I was order blue steak in restaurant then some restaurant start to stop doing it then I grow up and I only eat blue steak at my own house and if it’s fresh from the butcher it’s the meat has been froze or few day old I’m gonna eat it medium rare and there a reason for this to eat raw meat that need to be really really fresh meat you can’t just take any steak and eat it raw you probably gonna get sick if you do so !! And that why to restaurant stop doing this they are reason for everything
Health inspector here. I always laugh, because people think this stuff is dramatized. It's genuinely like this. I am in a large city (state capitol) in the United States. Realistically, about five percent of restaurants are like this. The things I've seen are crazy and I love showing people all the photos I've taken and the stories I've got.
I have to know, did Ken gave his voice to a game recently? Because i saw a video of little horror game about turkeys, and one of the characters had his voice lol
He did. He plays it no his Toasty Games stream channel. Not sure if he replayed it, but the first time he just quit because the bad guy in the game kept killing him in hiding place and he just wasn't having fun in it. I think the only voice I heard was from the beginning of the game when they were on the boat. Anyways, the answer is yes to the Turkey game with Ken's voice.
im no chef, but ive noticed some places you actually have to order stuff as medium to get it cooked, like if you ask for rare or medium rare they just undercook it and serve. Had an amazing rare steak on this train ride restaurant thing that was quite expensive and they managed to hit that cooked but rare perfection not sure what the difference is but im guessing a time/temperature ratio thing
not necessarily true, the methods in which you cook are also factors, like if you do it on a grill, propane vs charcoal, or on a pan or if you decide to sear it or not, howabout a marinade? definitely more than two factors
@@ItsLadyJadey i am going by the dictionary definition of cooking which includes the preparation phase not just heat. those methods are examples, depending on what method you use effects the final outcome and flavor otherwise we would all cook everything in one device that just sets a temperature and a time, no other factors, only two right?
Steak temps: Well done = dog treats Medium well = pink center Medium = pink with tiny amount of red center Medium rare = pink with warm red center Rare = red throughout, cool center Black and blue = rotated and seared crisp, red throughout, cool center Blue = cool red throughout The steak in this video = cut and plated from live kitchen cattle
Just an FYI, traditional tiramisu has the cream filling made with mascarpone and »raw« eggs, being left out for more than 4 hours is a risk for salmonella and should be discarded right away
I love seeing more kitchen nightmare reactions from you guys! I recommend watching the uk versions as well if it’s possible to find them. I also recommend looking up whether or not the restaurant survived after the show aired as there are some I recall that are still open.
I don’t understand how people serve such disgusting food to Chef Ramsey. I mean they know the food is for him so you would think they would do their absolute best. However, if this is their absolute best, then they shouldn’t be a chef. Pick a different career.
Technically that steak was cooked Blue or “bleu”, which means raw inside with just a sear on the outside. Its more rare than rare. Tried a steak like that before and it wasnt very good
I love my steak rare and am one of those people that thinks the redder the better (because of those sweet meat juices not to be more manly)...but it still needs to be kind of cooked.
I don't like blue bc it's just difficult to enjoy. Hard to chew, cold or lukewarm, and all I taste is metallic myoglobin 🤢 I like rare, though, bc it gets rids of that heavy bloody flavor and is easier to chew and let's the seasonings shine a little more.
Thank you for these Ken!!! I love Kitchen Nightmares, but a couple years ago I had been binging it for a few weeks only to have a real life encounter.... Now I'm too scared to watch it again 😂 worried it's a curse and hoping your wholesomeness will act as a buffer

Hi Ken,
If people want to order steak that's practically raw, they should order it 'Blue', if you look up blue steak you'll see it's just a sear, but raw inside. I don't think anyone would consider what Ramsay was given "Medium Rare"
The " thoomp thoomp" sound effect every time he pokes the tiramisu is too good! 😂😂😂
You know, I'm definitely one for an "as rare as can be" steak. But even I would throw that back on the cast iron.
I've eaten a steak like tht n it's not bad tasting.... just the texture is like eating straight flesh n it's a bit off putting
@@deziiluv agreed
@deziiluv I love blue steak just wouldn't order it at this kinda restaurant
They know tartare is a thing right? And it’s perfectly safe to eat. But yeah maybe not from that place
it was still screaming from the 2 seconds of pan-touching. It's like Seared Tartar.
7:47 “A LITTLE RAW” Ken in high pitch voice! 😂
That old lady was scared because she had had the dream sauce before.
And let's just say...she just *looks* mature, she's actually 18!!!
Bahahaha!
Idk why but I’ve been binge watch Hell’s Kitchen and master chef for the past week and now you upload a video on Gordon? The universe is singing to me!!!
Right? I’ve been binging Hotel Hell and Kitchen Nightmares 😆
My boss used to say “ I want my steak rare enough a good vet could bring it back to life “ ….. I’m a tech he’s a veterinarian 😂
That steak was so raw the cow was still out in the pasture grazing
Poked it with a fork and it moo’d and flinched 😂🤣
Yeah! It was like a steak.. but not cooked enough
I worked at a fancy place that did a dessert display using fresh desserts on a big silver tray. We had to lug that thing around to show guests at the end of their meal, and the longest those desserts stayed on the tray was 3 days...AND it was kept in the walk-in cooler when we weren't showing it around.
Same here. I loved taking the tray around! I would sell so many!
We need more kitchen nightmares reactions!
As someone who eats their steak medium rare-medium, that's the rawest looking steak I've ever seen served 💀
I love that the waiters just straight up throw the owners under the bus 😂 "the time has come... for my revenge"
My husband is in culinary school and I'm so proud of him for sticking with it. His dreams taste much better and are always cooked through 😂
My dad's too,his homemade pasta sauce is to die for, uses fresh cheese too.
I speak for everyone, WE NEED A PT.2 SIRRRS
I like medium rare but that is just straight up raw lmao
It’s Raw!!!!
It’s Raw!!!!
That meat they served him is my worst nightmare I can’t stand anything less than fully cooked 😅😂. I know I won’t but I feel like I’m gonna get some disease like with Salmonella with chicken.
Yeah I will eat steak cooked Blue. But that was a little too raw even for me!
That mfer still talking shit from the plate 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
🤣we have a giant pot & stirring paddle like that. My husband bought them specifically for his annual massive pot of chili. It has a few other uses
1:41 this lady realizes that she’s eating in a restaurant that’s in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares 😂
The voice effect on Ken's "a little raw" 💀😂
That cracked me up too
"I don't know wether to laugh or cry."
You bout to get idiot-sandwiched by THE RAMSEY.
6:12 my dad used to say “show it a picture of fire and then bring it to me” when telling a waiter his cook preference 🤣🤣🤣
Looks like they just decided to sear the steak and send it out. Makes me wonder how many times they’ve done that
My dad always told me make sure to sear it at the end, after cooking it close to your desired way medium/medium rare.
Gordon ramsay is a very wholesome guy. That's the main reason why I'm a huge fan of his.
Now I love a blue steak. (Very rare) but I refuse to order a blue steak unless it’s from a well known/well rated restaurant. Would I order one from here? Nope 😂
I shine a flashlight 🔦 at my steak for 7 minutes on each side.
I always love watching you guys watch Kitchen Nightmares
I have watched this clip at least ten times but I’ve never laughed that this hard at it! The editing and Ken being genuinely disgusted and Dane’s optimism and jokes about the background like the big ol ladle. And his face at seeing the meat be cut. Perfection
I have family members that like their steaks rare and I don't understand how they haven't had to go to the hospital for it-
It's so raw, a good surgeon could bring it back to life :)
Yeah but it was the owner not a chef with any talent for sauces.
The viking village dig (archeological dig) they found petrified poop & it was chocked full of worms. From eating raw meats.
Y'all make everything a hundred times funnier 🤣
The big pot reminded me of Kevin carrying his big pot of chili on The Office 😂🤣
@ 0:00 - 0:03 needs to be made into a ring tone
😂😂😂😂
But some cuts are best eaten rare 😭
Yeah he played it too, you should check his gaming channel! 👌
I saw this episode, you are correct in this kitchen was never cleaned 🤣
All seasons are on yt (maybe it's just yt premium) and I've been binge watching the crap out of this show HOLY COW some of the drama
It's also on hulu
"IT"S RAW!!!" Kitchen Nightmare's. as one person below stated.. is a gold mine indeed.
I thought it was a start to Meme Couch until I read the title.
3:05 that's where all the lamb sauce was this entire time!
From all the grime on pretty much everything I can only imagine the smell of that entire kitchen
Gordon is so kind to the waitstaff, and it's so funny when said waitstaff are READY to talk shit.
im no chef, but ive noticed some places you actually have to order stuff as medium to get it cooked, like if you ask for rare or medium rare they just undercook it and serve. Had an amazing rare steak on this train ride restaurant thing that was quite expensive and they managed to hit that cooked but rare perfection not sure what the difference is but im guessing a time/temperature ratio thing
Well.. time and temperature are the ONLY two factors in cooking steak. So... yeah probably something to do with those.
@@karenamyx2205 Time and temperature are the only two factors in cooking literally anything. 🤣
not necessarily true, the methods in which you cook are also factors, like if you do it on a grill, propane vs charcoal, or on a pan or if you decide to sear it or not, howabout a marinade? definitely more than two factors
@@tom940 ALL of those methods require heat and time, and marinade doesn't cook anything. It's a seasoning.
That steak looked like it could walk off the plate & "moo" 😂😂
As a 25 year old woman who loves rare steak.. I can confirm it does make me feel manly 😂
Ty you guys for uploading this- needed it today - helped make the day a bit brighter
Gordon never stops being amazing he continues on!
3:49 went from made every day, to three weeks, to a couple of month's 😂😂😂
gordan ramsay never disappoints XD
Looking at that steak in the eyes of my grandmother, she’d be pissed because it’s “took cooked” 💀 7:38 this part was definitely about my grandmother 😂
Steak temps:
Well done = dog treats
Medium well = pink center
Medium = pink with tiny amount of red center
Medium rare = pink with warm red center
Rare = red throughout, cool center
Black and blue = rotated and seared crisp, red throughout, cool center
Blue = cool red throughout
The steak in this video = cut and plated from live kitchen cattle
Its my 18th birthday, had to come get my Happy Birthday from Ken!
I mean, I love my steak rare but even that is too undone.
Me too, I love rare but that is just like, not cooked at all!
That server is one of my favorite people from this show. You can tell she's so hype to spill the tea 😂
nah i love medium rare ..thats just ..raw..
Steak tartar
I just love it when buff says wooooww.. n no other words after that but laughter
Just an FYI, traditional tiramisu has the cream filling made with mascarpone and »raw« eggs, being left out for more than 4 hours is a risk for salmonella and should be discarded right away
Can we take a moment to appreciate how the blue outline is the exact same print as Ken's shirt
Im here for the kitchen nightmares Ken!
"A couple months" 😄😂😁
THIS VIDEO IS RAWWWWWW
I love seeing more kitchen nightmare reactions from you guys! I recommend watching the uk versions as well if it’s possible to find them.
I also recommend looking up whether or not the restaurant survived after the show aired as there are some I recall that are still open.
I don’t understand how people serve such disgusting food to Chef Ramsey. I mean they know the food is for him so you would think they would do their absolute best. However, if this is their absolute best, then they shouldn’t be a chef. Pick a different career.
At about 3:35 I swear either Buff or Ken farted in the middle of saying ooooh 😂
I prefer my steak rare or medium rare, but that does NOT look appetizing 😅
Technically that steak was cooked Blue or “bleu”, which means raw inside with just a sear on the outside. Its more rare than rare. Tried a steak like that before and it wasnt very good
This video is decking raw
That steak is what we call "still mooing on the plate"
I love my steak rare and am one of those people that thinks the redder the better (because of those sweet meat juices not to be more manly)...but it still needs to be kind of cooked.
I don't like blue bc it's just difficult to enjoy. Hard to chew, cold or lukewarm, and all I taste is metallic myoglobin 🤢
I like rare, though, bc it gets rids of that heavy bloody flavor and is easier to chew and let's the seasonings shine a little more.
Thank you for these Ken!!! I love Kitchen Nightmares, but a couple years ago I had been binging it for a few weeks only to have a real life encounter.... Now I'm too scared to watch it again 😂 worried it's a curse and hoping your wholesomeness will act as a buffer
I actually like my steak like this.
I never thought it was a manly thing to do, i just like the flavor and texture.
If you want to order it like this it's a 'Blue' steak though, not what Ramsay ordered (Medium Rare)
3:02 I thought that was the mop and "bucket" lol. I'm picturing them swabbing the whole place with whatever sauce that is.
I've been a victim of long term frozen fillet steak.
All I can say is the doggie enjoyed it very much.
9:28 I'm making Buff's laugh my ringtone!
I love hell's kitchen and would love if you guys did videos on whole episodes! I wouldn't mind if it was extra long.
Am I the only one that's watch that much kitchen nightmares.. when I see Ken n buff react... couple seconds of the show..oh this one.. there gunna have fun with this one 😂 😂
That is exactly what my grandpa would call “passing it over the flames” n that’s almost exactly how he ate his, he liked it “still mooing” n it was lung cancer that took him out at 92 not barley cooked meat 🤣
I also think Gordon is nice to the servers because the servers are the most honest about the quality of the food.
I live in Alberta, Canada. I've never head of "frozen steak" unless a cow gets out during a snow storm.
Honestly your the only channel I watch your videos all the way through. Love you videos
