From what I've seen and read so far he's a 6'9 SF that can shoot, rebound, create AND play defense? Sign me tf up.

And he's incredibly strong. He's one of the few guys that guards Giannis well. He can't be bumped off his spot and on drives if he gets his shoulders/hips on you at all its over. The dude is so incredibly underrated and ready to explode. He is also fast as shit end to end. When he takes off there aren't many that can stay with him.

      He's a tall guard, not a forward.
      Averages 11-6-2 as a forward
20-10-6 as a playmaker this year.
If he's not having the ball it's a waste of talent

He averaged 23, 10 and 5 and 40% from 3 the last month of last season. He's never been injured. He plays like a guard but he's 6ft 9. He knows how to finish. He's can run your offense, He can guard 1-4. 2 way players are the cats meow now days. Cronin hit it out of the park with this trade, I can see why he had to give 2 firsts, one for Deni, and one to move Brogdon. Remember when we all had 'Nurk Fever'... this is gonna be that x 10.

And also he's a young guy you don't have to waste years developing. Wizards faes are pissed and puzzled by the trade.

That's some high praise. And if we land another top 5 pick and take Bailey, Edgecombe or Harper, we can slide Avidja to the 4. Rebuild is over. Let all these guys marinate and find a new HC.

Deni Avdija is 23 a 6.9 point forward a very unselfish player who can organize the offense, a tall playmaker with very high IQ (with Deni everybody gets to eat!), he's an elite defender can guard 1 through 5, can also play multiple position 1 through 4, they call him TURBO because of his fast running, excellent in transition one of the top in the league!... Hope with him the Blazers will start playing faster than used to and finally start sharing the ball PERIOD🙏🙏🙏?

Pretty fair deal for both teams. I just worry about deni playing with ball heavy guards like scoot, sharpe and Simmons. Hes best with the ball in his hands. Often times got frustrated with the wiz when he wasn’t getting more touches

That's what I'm afraid of, cause the way the Blazers are playing under this coach averaging the lowest amount of assists in the league, only shows they are not sharing the ball literally no ball movement and I don't think this coach can suddenly change their selfish ways?@@GilTheCohen

Deni is a Point Forward a playmaker. Simons can be like Steph and run around screens for easy baskets. No more trapping in the corner. The question now is, can Chauncey use him correctly? This guy is not a stand the corner and wait for the ball, he is a playmaker.

    • @leelaor6201
      @leelaor6201 3 місяці тому +4

We all hope they're not gonna put him in the corners, it will be a total waste even though his threes from the corner are high percentage, but if they gonna ignore his playmaking abilities, that will be a shame!... This guy is like a Swiss army knife can do everything on the court, I just hope they gonna use his whole potential, just need to use him right?

I wonder if Deni becomes the Blazers version of Draymond Green, with a bit more offensive creation¿¿¡ An intriguing thought, as Warriors utilized Greens passing ability to facilitate offensive flow, and when hitting the three "peak" DG was lethal, and a big annoying versatile defender..

  • @philibusters23

I am a Wizards fan. I liked Deni and think Portland got a good young player. I am not excited about losing him.
I guess from the Wizards point of view, the justifications for the trade are:
    1. The Wizards expect to be in the lottery the next two years hopefully picking in the top 5. He does have four years left on his deal so they are losing for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 seasons when they expect to be a playoff team. But the Wizards don't really expect to contend for the playoffs in 2 out of the 4 years on his contract so arguably the Wizards timelines doesn't take advantage of his contract.
    2. The Wizards would trade pick in the top 5 and rather 7th or 8th and Avdija could be worth a few wins that prevents them from getting a top 5 pick.
    3. He is coming off his best season in his four year career so I think they were selling high. Perhaps his ascent isn't over yet and he continues to get better, but I think the Wizards felt like they banking some profit selling high (turning their 2020 first round pick in two first round picks (2024 and 2029 first round picks).
    4. He is a wing player like last year's first round pick Bilal Coulibaly and a first round pick from this draft Kyshawn George so trading him lets them get those inexperienced players more playing time.

When the Blazers finally get over the hump, it will happen eventually, doubt we'll ever win a title, but being relevant again, this city will go absolutely nuts for the Blazers. And the ones who watched it from the start will enjoy it the most.

his big progress and leap in skill that was translated on court was immediately after the signing of the extension
at the time he signed it his achievements on the court were less flashy and much less effective (not necessarily his fault when you have the ball hugger kouzma by your side )
knowing what he has done afterwards doesnt change the logic of why he signed the contract before his breakthrough ,,
its like being angry on only betting 25 $ on a bet that now you know has won .. and in afterthought you could have bet more ..
