I have said this for years Brad . Green or dry it takes the same to process it . The only discount I give is for what you guys call boiler wood . It can be less Desirable wood . So that’s a win win for me to move the ugly wood .
Good decision Brad. I’m curious to see your “piling” process vs. stacking. My only concern is the effort to load the trailer from a pile… not sure my back could stand all the bending over!
You got it!!! Stick with what works for you. Good plan. I’m curious to see how you’re going to get more wood. I have the same issue. Tree service companies around here in Michigan are charging more and more every day it seems. Hard to get good stuff anymore.
I admire your honesty and pride you carry with yourself and your customers. Holding yourself accountable is not something many people do in this business.
Great decision!!! Going away from what you believe in, to what you could make an extra dollar from, could really put a negative note on your business! Congratulations on doing what you think is best for you!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Great video Brad, i only sell seasoned firewood. I stack all my wood inside a woodshed. My customers are all very happy with my process. I think you made the right decision for your business. Enjoy your videos.
Nice follow up Brad. Your decision is where I am at today. And will be until I run out of room to season all my sales. Then may have to re-look at. Take care
Whatever you decide is fine as long as you are honest with the customer which im sure most that are for selling green wood probably struggle with. I see too many times when the temps drop the ads for firewood increase but the majority is too green to burn. Damn people this is your own community dont be a snake oil salesman
Brad selling anything you have to dance with the one who brung you. Meaning stay true to your roots if you aren't comfortable selling green wood then don't. People love consistancy and appreciate it by showing loyalty to you
Here in my area I do have green wood sometimes and I mostly have dry or dead wood. When I have green, I ask people if they want a mix of green and dead or dry and usually they say yes.
They grow up way too fast! I worked two jobs when they were younger and the little time I had with them we made the best of it. God bless you and your family Brad.
Great update. My video this week will also approach this subject. It hasn't gone out because of some technical difficulties with my computer. BTW, where did you get your jacket, with your logo? Looks sharp and warm for these days!
Selling green always depends if the customer has the the storage shed or space to be drying their own firewood 1 in advance. Most of my customers can only store 1-5 facecords in their racks so that's just what they buy every year seasoned from me. I haven't had much luck selling green firewood anyways bc theres hundreds of sellers in the WI selling cheap seasoned wood for $150-200/ cord. Selling seasoned firewood is worth holding onto longer so i can get $330-$400/ cord delivered.as much as $720/ cord for delivered restaraunt bbq wood. Sorting species is how i maximize the woods value. The majority of firewood sellers mix everything up and offer discounts. Discounts are only for junk wood that I'm sick of looking at . The customer service part of firewood adds the value and gets u repeat customers. i sell tons of pine firewood every year for boilerwood and campfirewood . It's what people want, alot of flame and quick heat. Most customers don't know the different species. I always try to educate my buyers about all the different species when doing deliveries and stacking. I'm still gonna be stacking all my premium fireplace firewood for next year about 150 facecords betweentposts on pallets bc it been setup like that 5 yrs already. The rest is going into a bulk boilerwood pile, mixed hardwood , ash ,oak and pine piles on pallets. My boilerwood pile is about 16ft tall now 50x50ft at the base. I have like 60 full cords of 8-12ft slabwood to sell yet from our sawmill but orders for split boilerwood have been nonexistent this year. Not stacking will make any ones production increase. My brother's sawmill channel is Orr Sawmill timber tales. He does videos nearly every day with his new woodmizer lt70 wide, 35" cut head. Plus we will be doing alot more logging videos this winter with our forwarder and 3pt logging winch. Most buyers want ready to burn wood anyways bc they can't properly dry firewood at their house bc theres to many shade trees and don't have a firewood shed built. Keep on splitting to be way ahead next year. It's $ in the bank. The more u work the more you'll make.Firewood is a never ending cycle🌲🌳🪵 🪓🔥
A sound decision, me thinks. And, I totally agree that green or seasoned wood should cost the same. Same amount of work for the business owner. Mother Nature is a silent partner and free labor…
I don't think I answered your question about green wood selling. I agree with you not selling this time of year through winter. If it was the vary beginning of spring or very last part of winter and knew they would not burn until following winter then I would consider it and maybe give them $5 or $10 off if was a returning customer and you could split right into the truck or trailer and dump it there. Just my thought
How about creating a marketing blitz every year in march . Just sell green wood for one month every year. Make it a thing ! Cash - 250-275 a cord. set a goal of 30-40 cords. quick little 10k bump in income for the year. Heck with the truck you could resell from a bigger operation and not do any work but driving. There is always " BTS FIREWOOD"
Brad I think you made a good decision on selling green wood. You’re the one who has to look at yourself in the mirror. Congratulations Brady on his successful hunt
So if you would sell green wood, wouldn't be for less then dry wood. It like us when we would sell Wet Slab we would sell them for alot less then dry slabs. Chuck would let them know they were still wet and told them what to do to keep them flat. To me is green wood worth selling. You have to sell it alot less and go threw alot of step process. Is it worth it.
You said he bought wood a year in advance i sold firewood that they just split up i told them it was green buy at your decision and they would and come back for more said it burnt just fine don't know if they mixed it are not only going by what was told but sold thousands of dollars of wood a year
I have said this for years Brad .
Good call. It's all about what customers want.
Reputation and Integrity is everything
Ill still keep buying your green logs Brad 😂😂

Was waiting for this since the thirsty Thursday thanksgiving special, but respect to your honesty and integrity brad. We all support your decision

I'm glad that you were able to come to a conclusion that helps you to feel better about the outcome of the question you posed. Good video.
Awesome job Mr Brad. You gotta do what's right for you

I think you made the right call since you promote and sell your firewood as being seasoned 👍👍
I respect your decision Brad, it all makes sense.
Thanks for the update Brad. Sound decisions!
Respectable decision, you always have to do what works best for yourself at the end of the day👍
Sounds like a good plan. Stay warm!
Brad you completely explained yourself perfectly and that’s the way it is right now 😮😊❤
Nice follow up Brad. Your decision is where I am at today. And will be until I run out of room to season all my sales. Then may have to re-look at. Take care
Great content. Great video. Can’t wait to see the future of the new way of processing more wood in your yard.
Ive had many of the same thoughts. The firewood processor had me thinking about and trying green wood but still torn myself.

Nice video, Brad! in my opinion, keeping quality up and the business reputation strong is a sound decision...

Wise move. Quality is king.

Maybe buy log loads for your inventory, more is better?

Hello everyone
A sound decision, me thinks. And, I totally agree that green or seasoned wood should cost the same. Same amount of work for the business owner. Mother Nature is a silent partner and free labor…
The Wood Hounds, Dan and Joe, talked about your topic this morning.
I think we are going to see a firewood processor in the future. Stay safe.
Do what ever is the right for your business
How ya like the shirt?
But what if the 3&2 cord customers say stuff cuz you won't sell them green next year
Sell wood however you can make money. Have a great day be safe
👍🇺🇸
Late happy thanksgiving Brad I sell green wood to

The answer is. I think you need to increase your prices.

That is a loaded lift arm!
