They grow up way too fast! I worked two jobs when they were younger and the little time I had with them we made the best of it. God bless you and your family Brad.

I think you made the right call since you promote and sell your firewood as being seasoned 👍👍

You got it!!! Stick with what works for you. Good plan. I’m curious to see how you’re going to get more wood. I have the same issue. Tree service companies around here in Michigan are charging more and more every day it seems. Hard to get good stuff anymore.

Great decision!!! Going away from what you believe in, to what you could make an extra dollar from, could really put a negative note on your business! Congratulations on doing what you think is best for you!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day

Nice follow up Brad. Your decision is where I am at today. And will be until I run out of room to season all my sales. Then may have to re-look at. Take care

Great update. My video this week will also approach this subject. It hasn't gone out because of some technical difficulties with my computer.
BTW, where did you get your jacket, with your logo? Looks sharp and warm for these days!

Ive had many of the same thoughts. The firewood processor had me thinking about and trying green wood but still torn myself.

Selling green always depends if the customer has the the storage shed or space to be drying their own firewood 1 in advance. Most of my customers can only store 1-5 facecords in their racks so that's just what they buy every year seasoned from me. I haven't had much luck selling green firewood anyways bc theres hundreds of sellers in the WI selling cheap seasoned wood for $150-200/ cord. Selling seasoned firewood is worth holding onto longer so i can get $330-$400/ cord delivered.as much as $720/ cord for delivered restaraunt bbq wood. Sorting species is how i maximize the woods value. The majority of firewood sellers mix everything up and offer discounts. Discounts are only for junk wood that I'm sick of looking at . The customer service part of firewood adds the value and gets u repeat customers. i sell tons of pine firewood every year for boilerwood and campfirewood . It's what people want, alot of flame and quick heat. Most customers don't know the different species. I always try to educate my buyers about all the different species when doing deliveries and stacking. I'm still gonna be stacking all my premium fireplace firewood for next year about 150 facecords betweentposts on pallets bc it been setup like that 5 yrs already. The rest is going into a bulk boilerwood pile, mixed hardwood , ash ,oak and pine piles on pallets. My boilerwood pile is about 16ft tall now 50x50ft at the base. I have like 60 full cords of 8-12ft slabwood to sell yet from our sawmill but orders for split boilerwood have been nonexistent this year. Not stacking will make any ones production increase. My brother's sawmill channel is Orr Sawmill timber tales. He does videos nearly every day with his new woodmizer lt70 wide, 35" cut head. Plus we will be doing alot more logging videos this winter with our forwarder and 3pt logging winch. Most buyers want ready to burn wood anyways bc they can't properly dry firewood at their house bc theres to many shade trees and don't have a firewood shed built. Keep on splitting to be way ahead next year. It's $ in the bank. The more u work the more you'll make.Firewood is a never ending cycle🌲🌳🪵 🪓🔥

Great video Brad, i only sell seasoned firewood. I stack all my wood inside a woodshed. My customers are all very happy with my process. I think you made the right decision for your business. Enjoy your videos.

Here in my area I do have green wood sometimes and I mostly have dry or dead wood. When I have green, I ask people if they want a mix of green and dead or dry and usually they say yes.

Good decision Brad. I’m curious to see your “piling” process vs. stacking. My only concern is the effort to load the trailer from a pile… not sure my back could stand all the bending over!

    How ya like the shirt?
But what if the 3&2 cord customers say stuff cuz you won't sell them green next year

  • @portersadventures

How about creating a marketing blitz every year in march . Just sell green wood for one month every year. Make it a thing ! Cash - 250-275 a cord. set a goal of 30-40 cords. quick little 10k bump in income for the year. Heck with the truck you could resell from a bigger operation and not do any work but driving. There is always " BTS FIREWOOD"

I don't think I answered your question about green wood selling. I agree with you not selling this time of year through winter. If it was the vary beginning of spring or very last part of winter and knew they would not burn until following winter then I would consider it and maybe give them $5 or $10 off if was a returning customer and you could split right into the truck or trailer and dump it there. Just my thought
