    I'm considering this as a convenient everyday bike. I just got my full license after 8 years of riding and this class of sports bikes has so much choice it seems. Looks like a great bike for my 45 minutes through country lanes and city to work.

      It is truly getting difficult to find a bad motorcycle anymore. Just depends on what speaks to you. I agree this would be a good choice for what you're looking for. If you get the chance to try one I would love to hear your feelings on it. Appreciate you for taking the time to share your feelings and thoughts. Stay safe

    If this had been on the market last year when I was shopping i would own one today. I was coming from a tired 1995 CBR600 F3, and pretty much just wanted that bike but new and reliable. It fits everything i was looking for, price and power wise. I wound up buying a Street Triple, but its a significantly more expensive motorcycle. Still really want to ride this thing though

    • @MotorcycleDemoRiders
      @MotorcycleDemoRiders  5 місяців тому

      I can understand that! I personally like the street triple you have more but this would have definitely been on my list of comfortable fully faired bikes if I was moving from the bike you mentioned. It made my top 10 rides list but still below the street triple 765 r and my daytona 675.

    I really want to like this bike and I see this going after the sporty street bikes not the superbikes. Atm im leaning towards a Suzuki 8R. Im older now and less reckless lol but still like a sport bike look over the naked styles. The more I see the new Daytona the more I like it...but lord why not full tft display or quickshifter in this day n age.

    • @MotorcycleDemoRiders
      @MotorcycleDemoRiders  5 місяців тому

      Oh man I can relate to everything you just wrote! In this category the only 2 that make sense to me is the Daytona and the GSX-8R. Definitely the Daytona takes a hit with not having a quickshifter. As I mentioned I don't mind the display but would it have been nice to have sure. I don't mind the Parallel Twin from the 8r at all but I love the sound of the Triple. The 8r is up on Torque by 6, the quickshifter and the edge for display but is $200 more, has 12 less horsepower, weighs about 7lbs more and a slightly longer wheelbase. I'm torn also but I am going to a demo event on the 3rd and will ride one because I'm torn between them also. Sadly it will be a demo so what I can do will be limited a lot but it will still give me enough to know which I will like personally. With all of that said I couldn't fault anyone for choosing either of them. Stay safe and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

      @@MotorcycleDemoRiders They are similar in torque down low. 40 @ 2k rpm and rise from there allowing ya to stay in 3rd and power through a turn if you want. I rode the heck out of my ZX6r until my body said enough...Then a vfr800 great bike but heavy 550lb ish. I have had the thought of getting a gsxr750 with risers or the bar conversion...Like the look and power of those bikes...just not ideal to daily in stock form and my 220-225lb older body. Curious to hear your thoughts on the 8R when you demo it in a couple weeks.

    Thanks for sharing your impressions.
    I rode this and the ZX-4RR at MotoGP recently. I was coming from the opposite perspective - on paper, the Daytona seemed to be everything I wanted so I expected to love it.
    I did, but I was shocked that I liked the Kawasaki even more. Not an appreciable difference in power (I'm used to having to rev out for power), and felt better handling and more "refined" for lack of a better term. Even fit better which I didn't expect at 6', similar to your comments on comfort. I didn't care for the GSX-8R and the RS660 was just OK but I'm fussy.
    The one thing putting me off is insurance costs - $2,000+/yr. for the Daytona, $1,200 for the ZX-4R, versus $430 for a Trident (w/ "full" coverages, including comp/collision & under/uninsured, not financing).
    I'd be interested to hear what a Daytona 660 would cost you vs. your 675. Obviously an older bike, but it's not all about the cost to replace. Companies are so afraid of fairings it seems. They seem to think sportbike riders and naked bike riders are massively different liabilities.

    • @MotorcycleDemoRiders
      @MotorcycleDemoRiders  5 місяців тому +1

      Did a check on the bikes you mentioned with my insurance company. $603 for the year on the Daytona 660, $592 for the ZX-4RR, $390 for the Trident and I currently pay $458 for the 2012 Daytona 675.
      I understand from the insurance side regarding the cost to replace fairings however some of the prices you listed are crazy!
      I rode the ZX-4RR and found it very enjoyable and it put a smile on my face. It has a much better suspension setup that the Daytona 660 so it will handle so much better. I was frustrated how detuned it was in the US and it was really expensive due to the detuning. The more I think about the Daytona 660 it really only lacks the tech from the GSX-8R and if it had a TFT and Quickshifter at the $9195 price it would have been the best bike in the class of middle weight fully faired bikes for me. I'm fussy also but generally its because I am all about value for money.
      All of the complaints aside it is truly getting difficult to find an actual bad motorcycle. All of them are good bikes and I can't fault anyone for buying any of them. All that matters is that you're riding, staying safe and having fun.

      @@MotorcycleDemoRiders That's very helpful, thank you. That's much more reasonable. I finally found a quote around $640, which I could live with. The gap between sports and nakeds is extreme here.
      I agree, it would be a bummer to have to spend more time and money on a new ZX-4R, on top of its already high price. I think I would want to swap the forks at minimum on the Daytona too, backed up by a short conversation with the Triumph rep who did a preview track day on one. I believe the quickshifter will be a dealer option soon if not already, for around $200. Still would've been nice to include at MSRP.
      That's true as well, there are a lot of good options these days, and it's tiny details more than fundamental. Having started on one of the "bad" ones I can say 1 bike is better than 0 bikes.

      @MotorcycleDemoRiders  5 місяців тому +3

      Ninja 650 is $8299, but sucks. The reason I say 8500 is that it would be the only choice in the market at that price. No other manufacturer would even be close. Not that it would happen but would have been perfect at that price is all. Do appreciate you for taking the time to comment

    This bike seems more comparable to the CBR650R than its own Daytona brother. Similar ~95 horsepower, similar non adjustable suspension setup, with their main draw being their high revving 3 and 4 cylinder engines instead of a twin like a Ninja 650.

    • @MotorcycleDemoRiders
      @MotorcycleDemoRiders  5 місяців тому +1

      That would be a good comparison. I would put the gsx-8r, rs660, and the r7 in the comparison also. I am hoping to try the gsx-8r on the 3rd of May so I can get that experience. All of these other than the rs660 are around the same price. Ninja 650 is dead against all the bikes on this list in my mind. All in all, it's a solid group of bikes in the price range. Which would you choose? Always appreciate you for taking the time to share your thoughts

      @@MotorcycleDemoRiders The R7 and RS660 speak to my heart since they are definitely closest to the supersports in terms of ergonomics and suspension, but the R7 is the least powerful and I've heard some reliability issues with the RS660 plus the price as you mentioned. I guess the Triumph then since there's no other engine like it right now, unless CFMOTO's upcoming triple ends up competitive.

    The only thing this engine shares with the Trident and Tiger Sport is bore and stroke… it has a different head (different cam’s, ITB’s), different pistons, different crank, revised exhaust, revised intake… no one was buying super sports, which is why the 675 was discontinued. They won’t make a 765 fully faired variant as production because they will hardly sell them. Look at the Speed Triple RR, the 2 triumph dealers closer to me had them marked down to $14,999 because they couldn’t move them… and that’s not even a true super sport, it’s a little more laid back then the liter bikes. Super sports are cool but don’t sell anymore. These cheap street focused sport bikes do sell… also, there’s already videos out of timed acceleration runs. 0-200 kmh in 12 seconds flat. To put into perspective a RS660 does it in 14.4 and the CBR650R is 16.2... So this bike is quick, the quickest in its class. An MT09 does 0-200 kmh in 11.8 and Street Triple RS is 11.3… So performance for the money this bike is very good… this is an excellent street focused sport bike that will make one awesome commuter!

      I'm thankful you shared this information! It's difficult to argue the points and while I don't like it regarding the 765 Fully Faired it is an accurate assessment. I just want one lol. The only real competition for this model is the GSX-8R and that is just because of Tech not because of power. The fact that the Daytona 660 is so close to it in price will push people to the 8R. I am a bit fat and not a great rider and even in the limited break-in ecu mode this was plenty quick. Without question this is a really good motorcycle and should sell very well in its segment. Your thoughts and insights are appreciated. I thank you again and by the way awesome profile pic!

      @@MotorcycleDemoRiders oh, I want a faired 765 to with all the modern bells and whistles to don’t get me wrong. But the majority of people wouldn’t buy one. IMO liter bikes are too much for the street, the 765 is similar in peak power to a 600 super sport, just a lot more mid range. I personally think the 80-130 hp range is perfect for the street. Plenty of power to outrun any car, but not to much to where you will be doing 130 mph in 2nd gear… I like the 8R as well, but I put a deposit down and have 1st dibs on the 1st Daytona 660 to hit the showroom in my area. The Daytona, for me, is perfect. Plenty of power, will make an excellent commuter, which is what I’ll be doing on it 90% of the time. My commute is 50 miles one way, mostly B highway and interstate/freeway. The last mile is city. I’ve done it on a GSXR 600 I had as a loaner last year which I didn’t have any issues with, the extra aggressive ergo’s were not my favorite with a backpack on. Granted I’ve dropped 43 lbs since then so that might help, at 6’ tall I’m down to 188 lbs, from 231. For me the extra top end of the triple made me choose this over the 8R at the same dealership that’s already available… that extra grunt will be appreciated getting away from the yocals in their lifted pickups who feel the need to try and race everything else on the road, despite not being able to beat a 2.0L Corolla in a highway pull…

      At current the street triple 765 is my favorite motorcycle I've ever ridden. Just felt perfect to me and had me smiling. The last liter bike I owned was a 2020 Aprilia RSV4 RR. Great bike and a blast but way to much for the street and a brutal commute lol. I love superbikes and supersports and won't stop riding them or buying them but my joints can only deal with so much.
