- A game Vulcan and I had as US Paratroopers using the new gun released in the Churchill update for Heroes & Generals - The Johnson LMG. It looks a lot like the FG-42 (though honestly between you and me, I rarely feel this way but I prefer the look of this US weapon over the German counterpart)
Definitely an interesting gun, basically a mini MG-42 for the US paratrooper!

.30-06 "thirty aught six" means .30 caliber model of 1906. 7.62mm IS a thirtieth of an inch, when you say 7.62mm or .30 you are talking about the diameter of the bullet, the terms are metric and imperial.
Although there are a lot of types 7.62mm and .30 inch rounds, they aren't all the same, their cases are different lengths, some bullets are heavier or differently shaped, there more differences. Here is an example using ww2 era ammunition and firearms.
German: 7.92 x57mm (Kar-98k, G-43, MG-34, MG-42, FG-42)
7.92 x33mm (Stg-44, Vg1-5)
American: 7.62 x63mm (M1 Garand, M1918 BAR, M1919 Browning, M1903 Springfield, M1941 Johnson)
7.62 x33mm (M1 Carbine + all its military variants)
British: 7.7 x56mm (Lee Enfield Mk1-5, British variant of M1919 Browning, Bren Lmg, Vickers Lmg)
Russian: 7.62 x54mm (Mosin Nagant, Svt-40, Avs-36, Dp-28, DTM, Sg-43, PM 1910)
7.62 x39mm (SKS-45, Ak-47 - postwar, just for example)
Japanese: 7.7 x56mm (Arisaka type 97, Type 99 Lmg)
BTW: 7.62 x51mm NATO was invented AFTER ww2. So it is not the same as the American 7.62 used during ww2, it's a decent amount weaker. Out of all the ammunition listed, the American 7.62 x63mm (30 aught 6) is the most powerful.

If I copy and pasted all of this (not really like it would matter anyway), then find a site with this exact wording.
+jeffreyevil I was differentiating between the different 7.62 diameter bullets used in WW2 because they are commonly mistaken for the same thing.
Never said anything about special ammo.

1:17 .30/06 Springfield is 7.62x63mm. which is why it is more damaging than Soviet 7.62x54mm. Rimmed or the German 7.92x57mm. Mauser rounds
The 7.62x63 and 7.62x54 did similar damage, but the .30-06 had a traveled at a higher velocity.

+The Shermanator I think he's talking about the M1941 Johnson semi automatic rifle. It fed from a internal rotary magazine not a box magazine like the LMG. U.S. Paramarines and Raiders used them I believe. Sorry, I'm an American. Guns get me excited lmfao.

Shermanator, the .30-06 has the measurments of 7.62x63mm. Saying "7.62" is not very descriptive as there is 7.62x39mm, 7.62x51mm (.308), 7.62x63mm (.30-06) as common rounds. A newer round known as 300 AAC Blackout is in 7.62x35mm. The M1 Carine is in .30 carbine which is 7.62x33mm. But most US/related rifles in WWII run off of .30-06 aka 7.62x63mm (M1903, BAR M1918, Browning M1919, Johnson LMG, M1 Garand, etc).

30-06 is in metric 7.62x63mm. It's bullet diameter is the same as 7.62 rimmed Russian and 7.62 nato
Nice vid sherm just btw you tend to jump out of the plane too early it's better to wait for a bit after it says jump a couple of seconds will do that way you actually land on the point and not 50 to 100 meters away

I'll be impressed when they add the Johnson Carbine and M1941 rifle to this as well: really neat rifles that were just too much before their time (really prototype assault rifles)
...also was that guy's StG44 just called an AK-47? well, somebody knows the truth XD (Mikhail Kalashnikov always said that the AK was a pure Soviet design...but lets be honest, Hugo Schmeisser, the designer of the StG44, was forced to work in the factory where Kalashnikov worked on the AK. Odd coincidence that...)
BTW, I think historically the Johnson LMG had a 30-shot mag not a 20.

It's quiet simple Johnsons lmg is developed as the FG 42 so as spies where everywhere the blueprints were stolen and bla bla bla and well theres the lmg (Awesome video btw)

Never really like those kind of iron sights as the metal ring blocks ur vision and the gun fire covers the hole.

3006 is a 7.62 cal but 7.62 cals fire 7.8 AKA the .308

The 1919 is better then the johnson because it is more accurate, 30 more bullets to use and It has less recoil but people cant see when shooting it. If you make past that the gun can kill everything you just have to use it a lot

.30-06 equates to 7.62x63mm NATO
7.62x51 is the same as .308, which is a necked down 30-06. The 30-06 is a .30 cal rifle round. It was used in WW1 and WW2. 7.62x51(.308) is the standard high caliber NATO round.

The johnson In real life is literally garbage. The recoil is so high that No one can can fire it for 3 seconds without the gun Being aimed to the moon.
