    I haven't used the electric netting fence because I can't afford it, so let me tell you what I did. I bought 100 ft. rolls of 2 ft. tall poultry netting and strung it between a top wire and a bottom wire on the plastic fence poles. It carries a current just fine. It gives a visual barrier to the animals, and if one tries to push their head under it the bottom wire will zap them good. For my permanent posts I sank a steel fence post in the ground at both ends of the run, and slid a sleeve of plastic sewer pipe over it to anchor the wires and pull them tight. Yes, it can still be a bit bulky to move, but the poultry netting wants to coil back up if you release the tension, so the job is a bit easier than plastic netting. Another thing I like about it is that it is that while it does a great job containing animals, it also does a fantastic job of keeping out dogs, fox, and other annoyances ! I haven't lost a single duck chicken, goose, or goat since putting mine up.

      It sounds like a pretty good idea. Anything to keep foxes and dogs out is great. Thank you...👌

    Electric netting is great once it's up, but otherwise it's just a net to catch itself and idiots like myself.

    Your sheep are in great fettle you must be getting alot of profit out of the farming to pay such highly skilled staff they did a great job ps I know what you mean about the lamb prices we sold the last of ours last night 50kgs £118 wished I had sold them as stores in November and no meal🤔

      Farming really is a gamble. We keep lambs a little bit longer and hope for a price rise that may never come....

    Is it a concrete floor below the straw? How do you prevent it from getting wet?

    • @sheepschool365
      @sheepschool365  Рік тому

      Yes solid concrete floor with no drains. A new layer of straw is added every couple of days. Soaks up the wet..

    Oh boy, what a mess, because of our own health issues, we didn’t take in any tack sheep. Too much hassle freeing their heads stuck in the stock net. Very much the best decision for the pasture.
