I'm playing some gigs with Ike Willis and have been showing my wife some of Zappa's work and stumbled upon this vid. You guys absolutely killed this tune! I'ma show uncle Ike tomorrow at the gig
as a 75 year old Zappa fan, i enjoyed this very much....Frank left us much to soon.... Great band...excellent cover...Zappa Lives!!
I have listened to Live at the Roxy maybe hundreds of times and that trilogy can bring tears of joy to me. Your arrangement, musicianship and passion that you brought to playing this has elicited the same effect on me. I have to echo, that that I am overjoyed(!!) that younger musicians are keeping Franks music, not just alive but vital. Thank You!
Frank Zappa is not dead, he may even smell not funny either. Thanks people. LOVE IT.
Wow guys. Just found this. YALL NAILED IT!!!! I had this playing in the background and 5 minutes in I had completely forgotten it wasn't Zappa. 'Don't you ever Wash that Thing" is really hard. Kuddos.
Arf!
I am a hysterical Zappa fan in that I am really REALLY into his music 24/7 as many other zappa fans are, and i simply LOVED this ! You made a great job out of this nearly sacred trilogy, and I especially appreciated the very "zappian" ending ! The whole 16+ minutes were energetic and passionately played. Also it's great to see younger generations picking up FZ's music. As I say with my nickname ever since he died : "ZAPPA LIVES on forever" also thanks to you ! Thanks a lot ! You deserve many more LIKES than you have. Only goes to show how desperate the music scene has become !
+zappalives thanks a million man! a huge compliment.
i 100% agree with you :) the boys are great in performing FZ
Signing under every word
@@StrangeChangesBand As a Zappa fanatic I had the same thoughts and feelings watching this. You guys are amazing. Covering Zappa is a crazy idea almost nobody in their right mind would attempt. You guys pick one of the most complicated arrangements and nail it while improvising or modifying stuff here and there just like Zappa would do at a live show. I love the whole thing. Keep doing it.
Totally agree zappalives. I often tell folks I am keeping Zappa alive with my quirky Zappaness . Thank you!
You guys are awesome. From a 63 yr old Zappa fanatic. LOVE it.
Great! So good to see Zappa's music still alive and well and appreciated by a new generation.
It's worthy of attention thinking that none of these guys was even born when this music was composed and published. That says a lot about the composer, the music, this performance, these arrangements and these musicians.
It's beyond a quick word what is needed to state what I'd like to state.
Brilliant.
One of the best Zappa covers out there. Not easy shoes to fill so hats off to you fellas. Bravo!
seein' ya'll young 'uns playing Frank's music - and so well - restores some much needed faith in this universe - especially in mid-October 2020!
Every music course taught at uni/college should have a required final year course "The Compositions of Frank Zappa" - no pass - no paper LOL. This was tight guys !!
3 compositions down, 5000 to go
Awesome job!!!!
Wow, I'm simply speechless. This will go on repeat...
Good job!!! 👍
Appreciate the work you put into to recreate this fabulous music & keeping Zappa’s music alive!
Hey guys, I think I've listened to Roxy and Elsewhere a thousand times (it's not an exaggeration), it's by far my favourite Zappa record, and one of the greatest live albums ever recorded. So I'm usually distrustful when someone covers or rearranges it, understandably worried they won't do it justice... BOY WAS I WRONG! You did a TREMENDOUS job, I'm speechless, my father (who introduced me to Frank) couldn't express how much he appreciated your work, he just kept nodding with approval!
Much love from Italy
Holy Mozes...... I always search for FZ music, and now after all these years I found this. I am a HUGE Zappa fan and have almost all of his records and albums. This is the best interpretation of his music I ever heard. Zappa plays Zappa is a shame. There is no love in it. No passion, no feeling. And this clip has it all. FZ smiles in where ever he is.
I think you might be selling ZPZ a little short. I saw them live and they had plenty of passion and feeling, as far as I could tell. We can agree that this group here definitely haa it, no doubt!
Fantastic! Great work guys.
This deserves a lot more attention. This is a very impressive rendition of music played by what I consider to be Zappa's best band.
Thank you for this great Zappa "suite." It was very "Frank!!"
Yeap, this is very much Frankish.
Plus the variations in first half.
The brass section is marvelous as as well as the unisono of brass/guitar/bass.
Frank, who originally played drums would be probably happy with this “low profile” drummer.
The bassist is good too and deserves to be more visible at least in super-wide angled (GoPro?) camera.
Huge FZ fan. That was absolutely brilliant. Please do more...
Thanks man! Our newest video/single definitely has some Roxbury vibes give it a spin!
good performance guys.
Franks artwork never dies.
And you playing this musik so as is it yours, great.
Great F'in work, more enjoyable to me as a 59 year old who has been seeing and listen g to Frank for 46 years, than seeing ZPZ. Love the horn section. All good.
These guys are wonderful. ZPZ gets paid. At a higher level.
As a musician, I can tell you that took a TON of work. Also, I could tell some of you were gasping for air / energy mid-song. That's a marathon. Super musician power and endurance must be set on high. GREAT job!
it was a loooong day
Bravo boys!!!!!!!...well done...
Amazing work guys! Impressed
This is an outstanding version of my all time favourite live music recording. Just excellent work.
thanks brother! got a new FZ-tinged original dropping soon, subscribe!
I'm 60 and this is one of my favorite Zappa pieces. Expertly executed guys. It's good to know that kids are working this hard, and have the chops and the passion to pull it off. I wanted to clap at the end. Kudos!
Thanks Richard! We have new Frank-inspired original live vids trickling out so subscribe and enjoy! Gonna drop a new one tomorrow.
Really dig this and keep coming back to enjoy it!
(I’m VERY late to this!) Great googly moogly, I enjoyed that to perfection!!
Thanks from Ireland🇮🇪👍🇸🇩
Frank would approve. This is outrageously good.
Fantastisch! Superb!
Huge Zappa fan here, I just found your video and I really enjoyed your tribute, very well done, excellent! Like someone said before: it's so encouraging to see young people playing Zappa so we know his music lives on.
Quel bonheur de voir la nouvelle génération s'en prendre au répertoire du grand Zappa avec autant de talent de précision et de plaisir.Bravo les d'jeunes!!
Oui, je suis d'accord. Fan tas tique !
Great job!!! We all love his music and so, thank you for learning it, practicing it and playing it for all of us out there searching for another gem of his brilliance.
Well done guys!
Wow,well done guys: a really professional piece of work ;the 3songs perfectly performed to the notes and Master FZ would be more than happy to see his music played by a group of young musicians who could be his grandsons and who weren't even born when he died in 1993.Hats raised for an excellent work , there is a brilliant future for these chaps.
thanks brother! i think the youngest of us was around 5 when the great man left us, but the point remains.
@@StrangeChangesBand yes you're right and l hope this nice influence by such a genius music maker will encourage you to create your own work as great as his music , I'm certain the name "Strange Changes " will one day make it to the top, because you've got what it takes to make it,good luck guys.
Wow, that must have taken a lot of practice to get it so tight! Very nice!
i often skip for bands trying to cover Zappa. but this time is a worth watching video. best compliments. great sound
Makes me so glad seeing people my age preserving this music. I'm 20 am is estimation close? Rocks so hard.
I've watched this countless times and it makes me smile like an idiot every time. SO good!! Please keep them coming!
What a great job!
Bravo😊
06:51 a complicated series of notes ,so difficult to play except for a professional band like our friends in this video, what mastership and dexterity in performing this masterpiece, thank you 😊 🙏 ❤
Wow! Loved it!!
Zappas' music is the best....beautifully played guys
very well done! zappa music is tough to duplicate and you guys have done it to perfection, congrats, keep it up
Excellent! Don't You Ever Wash That Thing is an amazing and difficult-to-playcomposition - You guys pulled it off! Mr. Toro - great bass work, great tone - reminds me of Fowler's work with Zappa.
I can never get enough of people bringing so much passion and enthusiasm for Zappa's music. That was a sheer delight to watch you all perform that - thank you! I love the way so much energy was given to the brass, for me it's what makes Arf/Wash have such an impact. God that was excellent. Bravo!
Fabulous! Kudos to the arrangers as well as performers.
Absolutely stunning tribute to Uncle Frank! 👍👍👍👍👍 Hats & socks off, you guys. Was that a liitle teardrop that just rolled off my late great Uncle Frank's eye?
I love how you guys squeezed a bit of " Aproximate " into your trilogy lol ,the Aproximate noodling was my favorite part ,I'm wondering why nobody else caught it .
Good shit guys .
Incredible job men hats off to ya
extraordinarily well done guys. im sure Frank would approve and like this band..!
Thank you so much for this magnificient version of the Roxy suite ! You have the spirit and the maestria.
This has been my all time favorite album side since the mid 70's. You cats completely slayed it! Awesome job. Thank you!
Holy crap - well done!
Nice performance! And arrangement. Some of my personal favorite FZ pieces. Has a great feel and energy that other people playing FZ's music forget to apply.
young people loving zappa ,make's me cry
Totally faithful to the Man. Love
It.
Well, as big fan of FZ who i am, i say thanks a milion to keep alive this immense legacy! Love
Made me cry
I don’t normally curse - except when some guys fucking brilliantly cover this Frank Zappa masterpiece !
Once again I am BLOWN AWAY by the musical talent that exists today!! Frank is smiling ear to ear!!!
great drums and horns guitar wow great job reimagining zappa's vision.
Bravo, I simply adore that music
Not even 2 minutes into this and I'm already so very impressed. Great job, everyone.
That was really good you guys, excellent! Side 2 of Roxy and Elsewhere LP has long been a favorite of mine. It is so heartening to hear Frank's music performed and performed well. Thank you so much - that just made my day.
Side 2 is simply the best
I come back to this video over and over because as a super-freak level fan of Frank's, this is such a perfect recreation of one of Frank's signature movements. Every one of these talented musicians has STUDIED this piece and mastered it. I can't thank you enough for taking the time and applying your amazing talents to Frank's scores. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Our pleasure! High school fantasy = mid 20s reality.
Same think here. Always come back. Great musicianship and the mix is very neat!
Holy crap, I'm just finding this. Congratulations on not just the notes but the emotion. Excelsior!
An ambitious undertaking...and very well pulled off! :)
Great mix, i can feel the zappa vibe man, sounds like Chester is playing the drums, the growls with the synth and horns are spot on, lotta work, great band
I used to hate Facebook spam, but it brought me here. So I'm kind of thankful right now. =)
these are the finest Zappa covers i have heard to date. very well done guys!
Not an easy arrangement by any measure, but you guys handle this with ease. Well done guys. You do us proud, I will happily share this with others who also appreciate the master composer Zappa!
i don't know about this "ease" part....
Roxy & ritehere arf burnt wiene
really really good... all the notes were there and with such beautiful passion.... THANK YOU
I am absolutely thrilled that you did both versions of village of the sun
WOW! This is perfect!
..bravo...as a decades long poodle player...I approve...thee all shall be knighted...walk tall fockers..that is one heck of an accomplishment...
I have played with Frank and he hired me to do his sons 1st record, and he would've been so proud to hear his music being played by young players and doing a great job at it, which isn't an easy task to undertake! !!
Huge props Jared! Thanks so much man. You have a suspiciously familiar last name.....
I am jerry cuccurullo, drummer on my mother is a space cadet and flip side crunchy water, and Frank genourously gave me the only royalties he ever gave to a hired musician and yes strange Warren is my estranged eldest brother, he sort of lost his mind as ed Mann said to me what happened to your brothers mind? I said don't know but it has to do with 911 and his conspiracy theories he's bent on.....bent sadly is where he's at . love him dearly but he disowned his entire family. sad but true...sincerely jenairo a.k.a Jay or even Jerry lol, we must do a recording one day before I go to the studio in heaven. peace love all of your band!!!
Jerald Cuccurullo so you worked with Eddie van Halen on the record too ? I remember seeing an early MTV clip saying Eddie VH was producing the album .
Your brother is a monster, saw him with Duran Duran & I was the only 1 in the audience of pink shirt wearing dicks who even dug what Warren did with the guitar .
@@jeraldcuccurullo2497 would be honored to play sir!
IMPRESSIVE
"Wooow c'est Magnifique". Fantastique interprétation : du grand Frank
You keep it alive!!
very inventive arrangement, Greg & Tom, with lotsa new eyebrowsage (& evident eyears to go with'em) that kicks a coupla sections up a notch even. thanks!

Wow! Did tears just roll down my face from pure joy? Yes they did! Love this a lot!
i think a few of the guys in the band might have cried when i brought the chart in! for a different reason though.
Strange Changes, it was a "Read em and weep" moment?!
@@StrangeChangesBand Cruel and unusual punishment...
