- FRANK ZAPPA ECHIDNAS ARF OF YOU AND DON'T YU EVER WASH THAT THING.
MICKEY AND HIS BUDDIES HAD A GAME OUT IN THE BACK AND THEY DID A COVER TO SOME SONGS FROM ROXY AND ELSEWHERE.
Has anyone played this to friends and they just sit there with a blank face and walk away? Hugs to all who FEEL this amazing music.
All I have to do is post it.... Thanks for getting it!
@@plasticdadaii8225 TY for the upload, love the cartoon also, brilliantly synchronised.
@@Jellybeantiger I wouldn't say brilliantly, but primitive effort was applied and perhaps absorbed by viewers over time. Rake your coat off and have a look around. There are lots.... Thanks for stopping in!!!
The struggle is real lol especially when you’re in your twenties.
Most people I don't play Zappa to, because they sit there with a confused look on their face and/or ask me to something else on..
I would only play Zappa to those who I know are Zappa fans (but I don't really know any anymore), or there's a chance they might like it...
Echidna's Arf & Wash Thing on Roxy is one of my fave Zappa compositions 🙂
Pure genius! He put together the best band ever! Together with his ability and his craziness makes this so much fun to listen to! Nobody will ever be on his level, ever. RIP Frank!
Hello I believe you are correct , Frank Zappa was the ultimate, amazing man it was told that he always had pen and paper in hand, always writing music. The two mumians who influenced the most were Cat Stevens and Frank Zappa. I was able to see him perform over 15 times.
There's quite a few ABOVE franks level. Walt Becker and Don Fagen, for example....
But FRANK WAS FUN!
you obviously don't realize what level Frank was on.Steely Dan didn't do anything like this, neither did Hendrix. I was watching Jimi at the Royal Albert Hal after 35 minutes I was getting sick to my stomach. Like Frank use to say only a small portion of his audience really understand what he's doing. I knew at 14 what he was doing and saved my money to see him over 30 times in NYC from 74-88. I stood right in front of him at the famous Ritz show in NYC,there has never been a musical performance as great as that show EVER.
@@duster71 Lucky you, sir! Never got to see Frank live, but totally share your opinion and emotion. The One and Only!
There will only be "one" Frank Zappa, which makes life on this planet even more unique !!
The best jam I have ever heard...
How can one man create so much funky stuff ??
What can ya say ..I've heard this a 100 times, and it still incredible playing ..George Duke, the horns , percussion , & of course, the composer ..F.Z.
Hearing this played with the Roxy band back in the day was incredible.Frank started with Penguins and that first that the band hut sent shock waves through my body that are still reverberating almost 50 years later.
They punch the clock. I haven't seen them because their father only charged 2 hours of my labor to see a show, but these guys want my grocery money. When Frank died, I really hoped Dweezil would take up the mantle. They play it well, but I can stay home and hear it with Frank and maybe an idea will occur.
This suite is like candy for my ears, I can listen to it five times in a row and not get bored, and possibly some of the most mind bending drum solos I've ever heard, as well as the percussion throughout, tellin ya man, _ear candy,_ full stop.
Love this music. Especially George Duke's keyboard solo and then when the horn section comes in!
Got lucky there!
If you don't love Frank you don't understand music.
WoW! Pure funky butt-shakin magic at 10.50- ... Just going to show that Zappa was a master in all genres.
When? Where can we witness this? Gotta date set yet?
I love Mickeys Interpretation of Franks composition. Well done Mickey!
thanks
I didn't know Mickey played any Zappa covers... and the footage of Bruce Fowler ramming Walt Fowler with his slide is just priceless!
HAHAHAH!
Ummmm.... Not quite. That's Ian Underwood, not Walt, and I know because he's playing a clarinet, not a trumpet. The trumpeter is the pig on the ladder, and he's got to be Sal Marquez because Jean-Luc Ponty is still in the band, and early on keeps poking Sal with his violin bow.
this roxy stuff will forever be the best live performance of any band any time. including the band zappa had in the 80s, which technically was en par, but never had the wit nor the personality.
They were quite the Platoon, weren't they?
Love the bass line.
This is so cool just found the cartoons with music by FZ, been a fan of FZ since 1967 and Freakout . And eyeopener for a young naive girl who didn't know a whole lot till FZ was given to her. It was all down hill from there lol Still love FZ music for yrs I could not listen to music like this till FZ then through the yrs my ears got a music lesson from FZ, now I can listen to many different kinds of music, and enjoy it. The instrumentals really helped with my ADHD, when I was working out side my home I could listen to cd's at work which was allowed the job was sorting stuffing incentives and sorting mail. And now retired can listen anytime ;) Happy 4th of July to all;)
There are more so do come back.
Music is wonderful here, if not Zappa at its best. But I like this cartoon, too!💥❤
Thank you. There are more. Wander around again.
Still the best of these particular two
whoever took the time to make this, thank you. I loved it. I believe that Frank would have liked it too. Great Job. I was thoroughly entertained.
The first zappa album I heard. Love it.
advance to the 10:50 play mark and listen for 1 minute. 41 years later and I can't listen to this 1 minute solo this less 10 times once opened. mesmerizing guitar skills.
George Duke's solo at 8:03 always gets me
Yes! They are both amazing. I'm also always impressed by Fowler's trombone solo.
me too !! I am not alone !!
Yeah I couldn't agree more. The phrasing/syncopation is nothing short of spectacular.
Fowler's trombone work is way under appreciated. If kids today we're only exposed to it, there's no telling the dance moves they could come up with.
Great Masterpieces and the Music is quite cartoony so the images fit very well.
CHEERS ORN!
no words other than you and frank are the best.... well, ruth and micky are great also.....thanks !!!! bob
I like the way the xylophone warps...quite appropriate.
Pure magic
Cheers
🗽70's all the way
Oh cool!
Are you to be the next resident Grader?
Got anything to compare it to?
As usual, NO.
Packard Goose was here!
FZ, the Best!!
YCDTOSA Volume 2 is the best album ever ! The band is so tight, and you can tell that Frank is enjoying himself.
Is that where this song was from? Why is this relevant?
@@plasticdadaii8225 I stand corrected, was posting on different vids and lost track of the one that I was on. I believe this to be the version from Roxy & Elsewhere.
@@ryanjones4150 No worries Mate, Keep multi-tasking!!!
the last video i saw was about talking assholes... i am the sphincter of society. i am going to wash the bugs out of my hair now.... thank you...bob
I am not sure where it is from.
Frank Zappa recites the talking asshole scene from Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs..... this is your stuff.... clean hair and a trip to the courtroom today...…. thank you …….bob
Watch Ruth!
Surely his Best Band!!
...and Great vid!! 👏👏👏👍
Merci beau coup d' etat!
@@plasticdadaii8225 🤣😂🤣😂👍
Insanely cool editing work. Right on Maestro
Mickey does Zappa! That's an excellent tribute right there!
I always loved this section of Roxy & elsewhere. Also, this is very well synced, almost as good as Blood Sweat & Tears on the Sonny & Cher show.
You're kidding right? This blows away BS&T
@@Matty88K
I mentioned bs&t because, on the recording of "Bebop Tango" from the Roxy album, Frank mentions bs&t when encouraging the band to "dance" their parts as a way of mocking the idiocy of john cage.
@@markducharme9518 Ah!. I get it. BTW, not trying to insult bs&t or anybody's taste in music.
Zappa was an admirer of John Cage and cited him as a big influence: wiki.killuglyradio.com/wiki/John_Cage.
Dada, this might be my favorite thing you’ve made yet
This conveys precisely how it feels to try to play this song
I am not a Geek and I'm very primitive and crude with my editing, and I also like results FAST! Having said that, I think there are only 5 vids I purposely spent days on. This is one of them. Thanks a lot.
Memories of way 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' would accompany music....great thanks.
NOT FAMILIAR WITH THAT, BUT I RECENTLY HEARD THAT THE "GREY WHISTLE TEST" WAS A PHRASE USED BY MUSICIANS TRYING TO SELL THEIR MUSIC TO "OLD GREYS" AND IF THEY WHISTLED AFTER THE MEETING IT WAS A GOOD OMEN...HENCE WHERE THE TITLE CAME FROM. THANKS FOR STOPPING IN.
PLASTICDADA II Very interesting.
"That Aint Ruth"!
love it
Thanks!
... Wow, Really NICE! ...
Величайший композитор!
That's Ruth. Awesome. Excellent work.
Fracias Amigo!!!!!
super good
Brilliant work on the video. The cartoons are perfect!
fantastic. music is the best
Plasticdada ll è bellissimo tutte le volte quello che hai fatto grazie !!!
+Vittorio Malaguti Grazie to you too!
Play it again, It gets Better!!!!!!!
Just listened to it again.......WOW
Fantastic! Loved how the percussion solos synched there. I'm so glad you are using your immense skills for the forces of good!
HA!!!
thank you love these helping me keep it together during corona isolation time
Tell Rocket Robert I said hello. I miss him.
Brilliant!
This has been up for over three years?? I'm surprised DizkneeCo never had it pulled~~
Regarding the meaning of the "old grey whistle test:"
Some pop tune songsmiths would test a new song out on the building's doormen, who wore long grey coats.
They'd whistle the melody to them, and if they could repeat it back, and said they liked it, they knew the song was catchy and hook-y enough.
That's one talented mouse!
Silly You! That was an enchidna!
PLASTICDADA II Somehow there's a pun in there, like "And you ain't kiddn'her"... But, my brain is dragging Lol
Great video 🙂
@@magicmoonmedicine
Kiddin'her, i barely echidher!
fab !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers! We've gone back to fab in 55 years.
@@plasticdadaii8225 this is killer shit! 5 stars!
enjoyed that!
COOL.
Good animation selections lol
awesome editing!
SHIT! mickey was really ON tonight..
been listening to this for 40 years still love tom fowler's solo..
I don't remember this line up? 1974, Uptown Theater Chicago perhaps?
Roxy and Elsewhere
Sorry! I was making a joke.
Sorry it went over my head.
PERFECT!!
+Bluedreams You'd better not watch it again
wtf. I love u
nice
little house I use to live in ..... & notekey....
well done
Cheers.
Maybe the Zappa family trust or Disney or someone could actually pay you (well!!) to perfect it? Well spotted. Loved it!
Ha! Cheers for that. I would not touch Disney. but I appreciate your appreciation a whole lot more!
Excellent
MERCI!
I always take urine out of 'modern' conception of music.
Frank realised in '70's.
Studio Tan great example.
❤
ja jajajajajajajaj Excelente
Gracias
Thanks from mickey....
ON RUTH!
I'll catch you at the restaurant at the end of the universe.
Village,
i cant type, think, or talk, without "pausing" frank,,,,is it just me?? maybe its age,????
I'm 17 and I have the same thing, so it's not age
I think it's just that I enjoy his music so much that I want to focus on it completely, and it's not exactly simple, so focus does help understand it.
:))
:D
I think I can do more than one, but almost always my brain is more focused on the music.
Fuckin A.
music is best , man is dead....
British , Daring programme that exposed 'Alternative' listening.....like MTV!
I THINK YOU MIGHT BE TAKING THE PISS THERE. I'M NOT SURE MTV HAS EXPOSED MUCH OF ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE INHERENT STUPIDITY FOUND WITHIN THE MINDS OF STUPID PEOPLE. BUT I DO GET THE IDEAD OF THE GREY WHISTLE TEST SHOW...
PLASTICDADA II I agree. MTV was and is one of the worst things to have happened with the world of music.
Arf
Woof
Evelyn would approve.
Naa , how i look as a mother of Invention ??
Man is not dead, He just smells funny.
It works even better if you smoke a banana
HA!
Yes but it must be rolled up in your college diploma. That's College rhythm
I always thought the Mickey Mouse band were just that bit looser than the Roxy outfit. Better dressed too!!
:-)
By far the best two tracks on what is otherwise a massively overrated album (in it's original form anyway, not heard the expanded edition or whatever it is).
Zappa could not stand critics, but hey, it looks really good on you.
🙄🤤🤔🤡🤓🙃👎
Moronic Tedious Valueless.....and getting worse!
Described your comment well...
I know, Disney really went down the shitter
Fantastic!
Imagine what you can do when you put your mind to it. No one says that anymore! Have you noticed that?
:-)
