@@RobertDIY hey Robert had a question I removed my valve cover gasket on my 2000 Jaguar xjr kinda nicked the block where the timing chain area is their small indentations but jus wondering if that would cause it to leak any
Robert, Thank you for posting the video. I think you did a super job with all your detailed info and helpful hints. When you mentioned the head on the cover being towards the front of the car I new this video was perfect for a DYI' er like me. Well done sir.
Robert, thank you very much for your work in posting this video. Thanks to you, I was able to do the valve cover job on my Jaguar XK8. Keep up the good work and thank you!
Thanks Robert, I own a 2003 XK8 and just performed this job the right side. Would like to add to your video that the bolt on the bottom of the valve cover gasket located by number 8 cylinder is a BEAR to remove and reinstall. Ended up using a small 1/4" drive and a lot of patience.Universals and extensions will not get it done. Definitely, cannot get a torque wrench in there. Also, be mindful that the main positive terminal is located just behind the heat shield there. There lyes a good possibility for arcing and further damage. Great video thanks for the help.
You're lucky to have all the bolts on the coil pack/spark plug cover - mine are almost all sheared off. I'm going to do this job simply to replace the entire valve cover. Water etc gets in otherwise. That rubber connector to the airbox sheared off mine too.
Great video! With very clear instructions. I’m about to replace my secondary tensioners, do I need to remove the coils before I remove the cam cover, or is it possible to remove the cam cover with the dust cover and coils still in place?
I was looking at an XJ8 that may have been missing its cover for the crank case vent on that side, because when ever I accelerated I would get a puff of blue smoke. Didn't want to take the intake apart to check it though.
Smashing repair robert, allways easy when you show us how :-)) Im sure the nuts/bolts are kamikaze taught lol, dam things love gravity, magnetic tools can help but they can be a pain in the arse as well. I still wonder how those coil packs can cope with the heat of the engine, im supprised they dont die. Cams and chains look like a work of art to me, shame its all hidden from view.
nice vid that one looks very ease to work much space i own jag s type r have oil in some spark plugs and misfire codes and probably some coil need to be replaced but other than that jag are very nice cars ,bad thing labor and parts are way to expensive
Your videos are very helpful... I wanted to know if u can do one on the timing chain system on the jaguar step by step.. I been having problems my mine & it cost too much at a shop
Hi Robert, I have a XK 8 Jaguar 2000 I'm not sure what I have to get I watched you and I do think I need the same value gaskets for my car , I'm not really sure! Everyone else has been on my car, so I just thought we'll if anybody else is going to mess up my car then, I'll be the One No " really I will try ! Would I have to order the kit?
Hello Robert, I leave in France and like very much your video. I just buy a 1997 X308 and have a lot of little electric problem. One of them is the remote control which doesn't work. When I do as you explain in the video, I have no light nor no noise. Could it be the internal module of the car which doesn't work? I will check if the antenna is well connected. After that, I don't know what to do. I you could also make a video for internal and external mirrors, if would be fantastic. All the best, Andre
hello Robert, thank you for your answer. I'm sure to have strong batteries and clean contact. Because I hear no beep during the manipulation of synchronization, I suppose that the locking security module fails. Is it a good idea to disconnect and reconnect the batteries to hope to make a kind of reset? Could it be a problem of power supply of this module? Thank you in advance, André
+Robert DIY I have a leak on the right side at the last bolt and I was wondering if I need to buy the whole kit or just the rubber that seal the right head gasket cover
It's my brother-in-law's car. The purchased it a few years back for his son, while his son was in college. His son turned his nose up at it, said he wasn't driving that old man's car. Got a Grand Prix instead. LOL
Yeah my uncle had one like this and then another one before that which he leased. The last one he had he decided to buy off lease, big mistake! It had so many problems like you wouldn't believe! His final straw was when the engine seized and they wanted $7k to replace it.
Robert, you produce the clearest most concise videos on UA-cam. Thanks for doing what you do.
Glad you like them!

I would pull them.
Very well done. Thanks.

OUTSTANDING!!!! The hardest part was the bolt washers - you must have long finger nails ;-) Thank you.

Took me 20 minutes to find that darn bolt.
Hi Robert. Thanks for the video. Do you have videos of how to fix MISFIRE?

Yes it can be tough.

I'll look into it. The car that I have been working on doesn't have the problem but I will see if I can find one in the junk yard or somewhere.
Ok .. I would definitely appreciate it & I know others will. Because this is known common problem with jaguars

Make sure you have a good strong battery.

No, the module is probably gone bad.
Excellent video but it would have been invaluable to list the sizes of the sockets .e.g. Spark plug s.
Sorry about that. Do you want a refund?
hy I have a 2000 xj8 and I have a small leak on the right side of the gasket bolt.. should I replace just the gasket cover all the cam kit?
Not sure what you are asking. Do that entire side of the valve cover.
+Robert DIY I have a leak on the right side at the last bolt and I was wondering if I need to buy the whole kit or just the rubber that seal the right head gasket cover
That side valve cover kit.
I can’t get to the bolt at the bottom rear
dang
Mashallah
Huh
So who bought this jag?

They're actually very nice cars to drive, but very expensive to maintain!
Reminds me of the 960 I had. Very nice ride.

He was dogging that car. Seems to want to take care of it since I've been working on it.
