    Very nice piece...I had one years ago.1916 by bsa,all matched numbers,long range volley sight...traded it for a panzerschreck launcher, which just fitted full length dashboard to back window,in a citroen ax hatchback...

      Thanks CJ , I got it wrong I think, the volley sight was for long range fire and not the rifle grenade....thats right isn't it?. Imagine a coppers face if you'd been pulled over in your AX?....'I can explain everything'🤣🤣🤣

    Very nice looking rifle Stan!. I love the colour of the wood. I have not yet had the opportunity to get ahold of an example with the magazine cutoff. It is quite amazing that Canada never built any of these, but were damn gratefull to replace their Ross with one. Not many people know that Canada had to obtain these from England, much like the Mk.1 helmet. Thanks for sharing Stan!

      Cheers gunner, yes its a very nice addition to my collection and I like it particularly because its pre ww1. The wood has a lovely depth to it...all the best to you 🙂🙃🙂

    The Lee Enfield SMLE, is an iconic rifle here in Ireland, used in our war of independence against you guys, ( British army) in the early part of the 20th century, also used by the Irish army until the adoption of the Fn Fal in the 60s, i believe the Irish army used the Lee Enfield no.4 up to the 80s for reserve troops along with the Bren, nowadays we use the Steyr AUG having adopted it in the late 80s. Its probably due for replacement soon. Enjoy the rugby.

      Cheers Graham, yes your comment brings up images from books I've read about the war if independence and the SMLE being used. I'd like to own a deac FN FAL but they are too expensive for me. Great info m8 and the rugby was very entertaining 🙂🙃🙂

    Very nice! Ones with the magazine cutoff aren’t that common so it’s cool to see an example with one.

    Nice example. May have been issued to an Old Contemptible, who knows. Good rifle design somewhat let down by the rimmed cartridge. Personally, I find the Mauser K98 more aesthetically pleasing. Nevertheless, a good display item and, at the end of the day, a real rifle with real history behind it unlike those toy repros you always talk about.

      Thanks Al, yes the history of this rifle will never be known but its certainly a 'been there and done it' bit of kit and I'm especially pleased that it's pre ww1. Ha ha those toy repros!....I'm thinking of getting the m1 garand one🙂🙃🙂

    Those old cockers kick like a mule !! lol.. I learned that many deades ago.. when I did not hold it close enough to my shoulder.. and the bloody cleaning kit in the butt ended up in my shoulder !! lol
    A fantastic weapon ..and my favourite rifle of choice !! I've fired one of them many multiples of times and they are acurate .. well not with my Marty Feldman's.. but if you can aim.. you can maim !! lol ..That bayonet gives me the ebbie geebies ..innit ! ..must be something else to be suddenly in close quarter stabbidges !!
    I'm sticking with the lager and lime !! lol

    Stan I'm also curious being here in the states how long ago has it been over there you can't own a functioning one? Or could you ever? I see a lot of black powder guns at British shows for sale those must surely be functional I would think there sold here like antique items are.

      Hi Timothy, the laws in the uk are quite complex and yes strict. You can own a gun here in the uk, but not a pistol , unless it is modified. You have just given me an idea for a video today....uk and guns....ownership etc. This would be easier than me telling you what's what jn the comments...so if you check my channel out later you will find out more info ...cheers 🙂🙂

    Hi I really like the channel and thank u for explaining about deactivation. I now know why my Sten doesn’t dry fire.
    Do u know of any replica Webley .45 revolvers out there?

      @steelhelmetstan7305  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi Harry , thanks for your comment , I'm glad you like my channel and that you got some info from the video. I've got a webley mk6 in C02 pellet and I know that webley made other C02 air guns based on historic revolvers they made....if you are in the UK then 'pellpax' is a good site , otherwise I'd look online for 'webley C02 revolvers' see what comes up. I've got the battfield finish version and it's a really acceptable replica and fun to shoot at tin cans...I hope this helps m8, all the best to you 🙂🙂

A gift from a friend is always good, I get my fair share of free militaria from people who know what I collect...in fact today I got a 1980s british army kit bag full of stuff from a workmate who was in the infantry from 1976 to 1985, he just wanted rid of it all....yeh the mad minute with the old SMLE 🙂🙃🙂
