Wow, that was quite a daunting hike. Definitely would have pulled a Clark Griswold at the Grand Canyon as soon as we saw that trail on the other side of the canyon.
Instead of drinking Gatorade you should make yourself daily pitchers of fresh lemon-lime aid and carry it with you to drink. Unlike plain water it will not make you feel sick to your stomach when you are out on these long hikes on hot days. Lemon and limes are high in potassium and magnesium and other minerals that the body needs to function properly especially before, during, and after intense exercise.

Hahaha when and where you first started off I laughed and thought that boy is crazy. hats off to you! You really walked far and I would have had that water drank up by the time I got to the first parking area. I'm pretty sure those horses at that corral are for rent and you can ride them, I think its cheaper with a larger group. Also there is a parking area right above the horse place you can drive to and park and then walk up from there if you want next time, that's where we take visiting family. It is a very pretty view. You should walk up runyon canyon trail for a great view of Hollywood sometime if you haven't already. Also I have never looked into it with my columbo skills but I have always been told that to intro to the andy griffith show was filmed around the Hollywood lake down there. I have wanted to hike around it for awhile. You get up there from barham past Universal if you are ever interested. Good job man don't know how you do it in black my friend, I'd be a sweaty nasty mess =)

I live in nearby Burbank and I would recommend taking the " Wonderview Trail" . It has great views all the way of Lake Hollywood , Universal Studios , Warner Bros. and Disney. For anyone who drives there is always plenty of free parking.

That was one of my first hikes too when I moved to Burbank. That stable is called Sunset Ranch, they are one of the leading forces that closed down one of the closer access points to the Hollywood Sign trail. Would love to be your guide to a few of the waterfalls in the San Gabriel Mountains!
Next time more water definitely. What an amazing view. Cool vlog. Next time bring one of those collapsible bikes and just coast all the way back down the hill. Go to Burbank and visit jay Leno before you leave Los Angeles.

The Columbo Car was a 1959 Peugeot 403, that looked like a Early-Mid 1960s Volvo, the type many Berkeley types drove before they all got Priuses.
That's definitely something I wouldn't mind doing, that may be on my bucket list.
