Thanks for this great episode Adam! Way back in the seventies, I was lucky enough to work on 'The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson', which is the official title of the show, and believe me, it was a lot of fun. It would be a stretch to say I knew the man because Mr Carson very much kept to himself but he was always a gentleman to the crew. A complicated man and a great talent!
Adam, people would name bar's, "Office", so that when wives were looking for or questioning their husband's as to where they were or had been, they could say, "the office", without lying.
Your basketball skills remind me of Scott Howard before he changes into the wolf. "Your mother and I were hoping it would pass you up" for you Adam I think it did Hahahaha. It's ok being a wolf has great responsibility anyway and who needs that. Very good job on the video today he was a neat man.
i live in this small community. was so surprised that the Daily Woo was here. Johnny Carson's home is just down the street from me. thank you for visiting. Come again.
Always loved Johnny Carson. Even when I was too young to understand his comedy I was staying up late to watch him on school nights. He was the best and I haven't watched late night shows since.
I currently live in Norfolk and have for the majority of my life. I live a block from the Junior High, and that train is pretty annoying haha! Also, the parking lot you were standing in where the Granada theater was is now owned by the Norfolk Daily News owned by the Hughes family. Jerry Hughes the original owner of the paper was one of Johnny’s best friends, and he would come back to visit him. My husband is actually a photographer for the news his first big story was the accident at Johnny’s house. The photos you see circling around are probably his :) Thank you for filming this! It made me happy to see someone show our history!
I met Johnny Carlson back in back in 2002 when I was working at Fullerton Airport where he kept his airplane. I was only 23 at the time and didn't know much about him. Had I known then what I know now, I would have been more star struck. Thank you Adam, you always find away to bring back memories and spread joy with your vlogs. Please never stop.
Adam' i stopped your video and checked out the 1982 Johnny Carson Going Home video. I have to say i Enjoyed it thoroughly, and it made me remember my times growing up in Iowa. Nothing like a Midwest childhood. Thank You for the Great Content' Keep Up the Good Work. Comment...Over!
I really love watching your videos Adam. It's great seeing all these amazing places that I normally wouldn't get to see. The history and facts you give as well just makes it that much better. Thank you for doing this so people like me can see these kind of things.
I grew up around Norfolk!!! So cool to see you talking about landmarks I grew up with about Johnny Carson . Nebraska is such a beautiful place with great history
We love your videos, you have become our favourite Adam:) Living at the tip of Africa it is fascinating for us to see these places, places we've only ever read about. May you go from strength to strength. Cheers!
Thanks for the great content Adam. Also just so you know (and sorry cause I know many people here may not be interested) but we gave the Great Movie Ride a great send off. Wonderful celebrations and get togethers all throughout the long weekend by us former an present Cast Members there. Movie Riders flew in from all over the country and the world to attend the last GMoscaRs, walk the track one last time, and ride the attraction with nothing but former CM's after park close. On the final day, in addition the massive lines all day, there were about 700 of us just waiting to rush into the line at 9:29 pm to be among the last to ride it. The "Thunderous Applause" for the tour guides was pretty fierce all weekend. The old girl deserved it. There will never be anything like her again. Later that night, the piano player at Jellyroll's did a10 minute Movie Ride montage for us. Not a dry eye to be found. Just thought you may enjoy hearing about this, Adam.
+dcd715 that makes me happy the turn out was so great . I gave it a lot of thought on flying out there for the final day but just couldn't bring myself to do it . I had to say my MGM goodbyes with the removal of streets of America . So sad to see my childhood removed but progress has and always will be the main objective which I understand . Thanks for the comment
Thank you for showing us things we couldn't normally see, you are an inspiration to me. I work about 60 hours a week so its hard for me to get out and explore so thank you for doing it for us.
Wow, good basketball player, daredevil hanging from a railroad bridge, can't wait to watch Johnny's video. Thanks for another great vlog Adam and for introducing Chris.
Another awesome vlog. Loved watching Johnny Carson and I did watch his special back in the day, of course, I was very young at the time. 😁😁. Safe travels
Good morning Adam. Always love the vlogs. Carson was a true talent. He is sorely missed. I always love watching the videos of him and Tim Conway or the other old-school comedians. Always cry from laughing so hard. Like you, Johnny is an American icon!
What a beautiful town, very clean too. Always love listening to trains on the tracks. Nice you meet another UA-camr wow and in that little town. Have a wonderful day. Over and out
That road you drove in the beginning is the same one I drove when I went to college. I have been to that gas station in Wayne many times. Went to Norfolk with friends several times too. Always looked at Johnny Carson's house and never stopped by. Most of my friends them didn't care but I did. Will have to go there sometime for myself. Great past few days of vlogs Adam. Awesome to see so many places I have also been to.
Such a cool vlog Adam!!!!!!! Doesn't look like that small town has changed much!!! I love to see a train running on it's tracks and hear it's whistle blow!!! Just that sound is magical!!! What a step back in time!!! Adam, Johnny Goes Home was one of the most epic things I've ever seen here on You Tube!!!!!!!!!!! It was absolutely awesome and what a tear jerker it was!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
So glad your videos come on in the morning (where I live at least) it's just a great way to start my day off good and since I also workout in the morning it helps wake me up and get my energy level up to start my hour long worth of running for the day lol
Glad to hear you picked the Boss to listen to. I traveled across the western United States listening to Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Good traveling music.
We saw a train from the sky when we were flying back from Utah to Albuquerque a few days ago, the train was so tiny but I could see it moving and it was a really long train even from way up in the airplane. I never saw a train from an airplane before so that was a first!
Hey Adam, your getting closer to one of my favorite movie sights, you might think about visiting Devils Tower National Monument, and see if Large Marge can have a close encounter.
Thanks Adam. A fantastic theme today. I have great respect for Johnny. I appreciate that his humor could be very adult yet not raunchy. He was kind of a quiet guy actually. I remember watching his very last show. Thanks so much for all of your research. Vlog on!
Good ol' Johnny. Not that enamored of the talk show format, but I always enjoyed staying up late as a kid/teen to watch the Tonite Show. Carson had a way of making even his most boring guests interesting, cuz he was such a engaged & humorous host. Loved that ending railroad shot. I always get a sense of hope from that perspective, as if track & ties are silently whispering to me that there's still somewhere else to go, some new place I need to be, & that if I just follow the rails long enuff, they'll take me to it.
for awhile my mom would have to pick my dad up at work. she would let me know she was going and after she left I would get out of bed and watch johnny Carson. Sometimes I would watch Steve Allen. I even remember Jack Parr. as soon as I heard the car pull up I'd hurry my butt to bed. those were the good old days.
I know this is old but it looked like a great town to grow up in what a different kind of life he had thou by leaving. Both have pros and cons just interesting the paths we choose
