TEXAS TORNADO FORMING 4K

- The birth of three tornadoes up close in UHD 4K and destructive hail breaking windshield. These tornadoes touched down on March 28, 2017 from near Abilene to Anson Texas. For licensing HD or 4K tornado video contact hankschyma@gmail.com
The first rope tornado touched down just southwest of Abilene Texas and was very brief. After that circulation occluded, another base organized and another tornado formed up close to my vehicle southeast of Anson Texas. This tornado was also brief with sudden needle like suction vortices appearing and vanishing. The third and most impressive tornado of the day formed shortly after and was on the ground for several minutes no injuries or fatalities were caused by these tornadoes.
The storm then moved into a messy high precipitation, outflow mode. Large golf ball to tennis ball size hail destroyed my windshield and pounded large dents into the sheet metal of my car. Later in the video you'll see an ominous tornado looking cloud lowering over Munday Texas after dark. This was just a wall cloud that did not produce any violent winds at the surface.
Tragedy struck the storm chasing community this evening when storm chaser's Kelley Williamson and Randy Yarnall's vehicle struck Corbin Jaeger's vehicle, also a storm chaser. All three men were pronounced dead on the scene.
Thank you everyone for the kind words!!!
We love you so much, you should do a live stream while chasing storms
Pecos Hank I'm only 11 I've been part of this channel for 2 years
nice video and it WAS YESTERDAY
Slim ya
Thank you for giving a shout out to Corbin. May all three rest in peace.
sad news to hear about the three storm chasers that lost their lives. Should remind people just how dangerous storm chasing can be even when there isn't a tornado in your vicinity, there are many factors that add danger.
Jpower Kelley wasn't wearing a seatbelt and ran the stop sign
that was the point, because I even said there are many dangers outside of the environmental hazards of storm chasing. Everyone gets into a rush, and traffic becomes panicked.
Jpower, you need to edit & correct your statement. It was the other vehicle that ran the stop sign, not Corbin's. It appears that Corbin was an innocent victim.
No. Williamson ran a stop sign and hit Jaeger's vehicle.
Correct.
Sorry about you loosing your buddy. Tragic the way it happened too.
You were chasing these 3 tornadoes in my old stomping grounds. I grew up in Abilene. Still have family there and up towards Anson.
Stay safe.
Take care Heli.
Pecos Hank what happened to your friend?
Watch the last few minutes of the video

Stay Safe out there Hank.
That moment you think beautiful just as Pecos Hank says it. RIP to those storm chasers who lost their lives.
I'm so sorry about Kelly, Hank. I watched all of his storm chasing livestreams, and enjoyed every second of them. I just learned today what happened, and I was heartbroken. I could see from this video you too were clearly saddened by the news. My heart goes out to you and your lost friends, and I hope they have found a much better place
P.S. If you need to, take some time off. I will definitely not mind at all.
Sorry about your friend. Such a tragedy. :(
hank your subscribers are here to help you thru the loss of the 3 stormchasers 4 great chasers have died the 4th one they guy who worked on discovery channel r.I.p
xXSoloMemeKingXx We lost 4 in the El Reno storm, in addition to the three the other day. That's 7 too many. We, as a spotter/chaser community need to really search our souls and decide for ourselves whether or not to continue, and if we do, are we going to commit ourselves to working safely, and keeping our heads in the game.
P Kranz I forgot the 4 in reno one of the 4 was the son
Tim Samaras, his son, and at least one assistant in the El Reno tornado.
Duirng the May 31, 2013 El Reno tornado (over the years, there have been several notable tornadoes near/in El Reno) three highly-experienced & universally admired storm chasers died (Tim Samaras, his son Paul Samaras, and meteorologist Carl Young), plus another gentleman (last name, Henderson - can't recall his first name) The first three were all members of a research group called the Twistex Team, and the very nature of their job put them at more risk than even the typical storm chaser. Mr. Henderson considered himself a storm chaser, although he was not known in the storm chaser community & had very little experience. He headed out to see the tornado after seeing TV coverage of the event, took a photo with his cell phone, shared the photo with his family, and was hit by the tornado soon afterwards.
In addition to the three gentlemen who died in this weeks vehicular collision, there have been several other storm chasers killed while driving. Andy Gabrielson, an extremely talented & very popular chaser was killed just a few years ago, when his truck was struck head-on by a drunk driver heading the wrong way on a highway. It should be mentioned that Andy Gabrielson was not killed while storm chasing, the accident happened when he was heading home the morning after a chase day. Also, a storm chaser heading to an area forecast to get severe weather died more than 10 years ago, when he swerved to avoid deer crossing the road & unfortunately slid off the road into a ditch. I am not 100% sure, but another chaser may have died while heading home after a chase a while ago. As far as I know, during the 40+ years that there has been storm chasing, the total number of chasers killed in automobile accidents is roughly 5 or 6, and definitely less than 10. Of those fatalities, some didn't even occur during the act of storm chasing.
So, are storm chasers incompetent, negligent, or dangerous drivers? Well, lets consider some important perspectives & statistics.
1. Keep in mind that many storm chasers drive thousands & thousands of miles in a single tornado season (sometimes well over 10,000 miles or more!), and all the chasers who have died in vehicular accidents had been chasing for more than a few years. So the typical storm chaser spends much more time on the roads than the typical American, meaning that storm chasers are more exposed to the risk of being in an vehicular accident.
2. The odds of a person in the USA dying in a vehicular accident in any given year is roughly 1 in 48 thousand. In other words, if a town has 48 thousand people, chances are that one resident of that town will be killed in an automobile accident each year.
3. The statistic above is based on the odds for people who travel an average or typical distance each year & does not include motorcycle drivers. It is important to note that the average distance travelled in a year is much much lower than the typical distances that storm chasers drive in a 3 to 4 month long tornado season.
4. We all have limited lifespans, so we all have a cause of death. The odds of a person dying in an automobile accident during their lifespan is 1 in 606 . In other words, for every 606 Americans, 1 will eventually lose their life in a vehicular accident of some sort & the other 605 will die from some other cause. Again, that is for people who drive average distances each year, not a storm chaser who drives many times that distance.
5. Another way to look at this is to consider how many regular storm chasers there are....I don't know the number, but if we say that there have been 3,000 people who have been a regular storm chaser at some point during the last 40 years,, then according to the stats (1 in 606) then, about 5 of them would at some point lose their life in a vehicular accident. However, note that this does not necessarily mean that they will die during the years that they were involved in storm chasing & they may not necessarily die while travelling to/from/during an actual chase during tornado season either.
So, without doing any more math, I hope you can see that the fact that perhaps 5 or 6 storm chasers (certainly no more than 10) have died during the last 40 years while travelling to/from/during a storm chase is not an outlandish number. This also means that, overall, it appears that storm chasers are not more dangerous or more incompetent drivers than the typical American.
Yes indeed Bruteme. Those are all keys. I will also mention the real need to avoid driving while extremely fatigued. And it sounds like you understand the concept of "Defensive Driving" too, which is a major plus.
Nevertheless, I am sure that you've also experienced or witnessed situations where, if not for a bit of luck, there could have been an terrible accident of some sort. I have been driving for 40 years, I am a "defensive driver", and I have a spotless record. However during all my years of commuting I have a number of close calls, thanks to someone else's impatience, aggressiveness, or incompetence. Despite our best efforts, we cannot change the fact that there are other drivers who can get us killed, and we are only human too.
Another great vid PH; Thank you for the touching tribute to Corbin, Kelley, and Randall. This is a tight community despite our occasional differences, may our brothers rest peacefully and be with us along with those lost in years past - watching over as we chase this season and beyond.
-Mike D
Really sorry for the loss of your friend and colleagues Hank...I don't know if you remember me telling you about my daughter with the learning disability but she watched your vid and thought it was great and we still thank you for keeping it clean and again so sorry for the loss of your friends 🙂
Congrats on 100k subscribers u deserve more than 100k because your a really down to earth person and will go into dangerous situations and make really entertaining videos for people to watch and it puts a smile on people's faces and helps people that are going through a tough time thanks for the best tornado videos it really helps me to get through life
That means a lot dude. Thank you.
Pecos Hank your welcome
I couldn't stop watching your may tornado video it was intense. I couldn't put myself through what u do just to get videos. it takes a lot of skill and hard work to get these amazing tornado videos and I can't thank you enough
Just subscribed a few days ago. Not only do you get great video, but your live commentary is calm and narration you add later is always very good. If you weren't already a storm chaser, I would say you should be a voice over person. Love the channel.
Stay strong hank. We support you from all over the world.
Sorry for your loss Hank. I appreciate what you do to make these beautiful videos.
I want to do stuff like this sometime when I grow up.
Hayden Draws same here
Hayden Draws same
Hayden Draws go for it man
No reason not to - take some storm spotter classes when available to get some foundation stuff. ride with a chaser you trust if possible. learn a little weather forecasting, go experiment in this great world of ours. be safe =)
Hayden Draws that's scary
I watched you and Kelley and Randy on their live stream the other day, it was so cool to see you guys hang out. And Kelley kept giving you promo pieces, saying watch your videos. And checking if you were behind him! It's heartbreaking to lose those cheerful voices, it really is and still makes me cry though I only knew them on a screen. Stay safe, get a hail guard and I look forward to seeing more of your fabulous videos. Would LOVE longer ones, the background leading to finally seeing the tornadoes.
Wow. I did not know that... He looked out for me a lot. Pitched my music to the Weather Channel and checked in. Kelley was one of those guys who was unselfish and goodness through and through.
It's on Kelley's live streams 03-26-17 Tracking Storms in Okla and Texas (the one timed at 2:52:35) at 1:38:20 mark.
What memory card do you use for your camera.. Sorry about your fellow storm chasers
Very sorry for you loss. I remember seeing those guys on The weather channel (Also seeing you) but I loved their show. I also loved the live streaming that they did. Rest In Peace. Great job on the video Hank!
wow this early to a great video by Pecos Hank. Keep up the amazing work.
PS sorry to hear the loss of your friends. UA-cam family here and thinking of you and the families and friends who lost there loved ones.
Adding just to talk to Pecos Hank. You really took some chances on this video. You better be more careful my friend. I (and hundreds of other people don't want anything to happen to you! Take care, Brother.
So sorry for your loss Hank.
2:33 on - that music was quite fitting for the frightening beauty of this tornado.!!
i heard about those chasers that died, was it an auto accident that caused their deaths? I am glad you are safe. Also, damn so soon in the season to be loosing a windshield!
One vehicle ran a stop sign and hit the other ... I imagine it's easy to lose yourself in the chase tension and the weather extremes and just make a mistake. Sad loss.
Corbin ran a stop sign and hit the storm wranglers. Randy died on impact and kelley was thrown through his windshield.
All three were great chasers
I know ... I didn't want to say who made what mistake. Just a simple driving error that can happen to anyone in a circumstance like this.
Just shows how dangerous chasing can be and its easy to see how trying to out run a tornado or even trying to find the right spot and filming where you can be distracted. In some of these videos you can see many chasers lining the roadside to get the best shots
My mates and I love your videos. We love you as a man too brother. RIP to your pals and fellow travellers. Go well sir. All the best from Brisbane, Australia.
Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend's and fellow storm chasers. My prayers are with you and there family's. We need to live life to the fullest and be the best person possible every day because there is no guarantee we will have a tomorrow. GOD BLESS
Been watching tornadoes for many many years, you have the BEST tornado videos/stories. Love the animal components, thanks for helping them across the highway. And mostly thanks for capturing and sharing the beauty and beasts of them.
0:03 😂😂"what do u want!?"
Sorry for your loss, brother Hank. I was watching Kelley's stream when you all met up in Oklahoma and were shooting the breeze. Glad that you guys got to get one last hang. Thanks for letting us ride along with you. Stay safe out there.
Hank, I'm slow in sending you condolences on the death of your friend Kelly, and the two other chasers in the motor vehicle accident. May their families and friends find peace, and may Kelley, Randall and Corbin get to see the tornados from the top looking down now. Please stay safe out there.
I'm coming at this late, Pecos Hank, but the storm chasing field is full of guys and gals like your friend. Their passion for the storm enlightens us all, and as a recently-retired NWS meteorologist (2015), our forecasts are as good as they are because of people like you. Thank you, and rest in peace to those three.
Thanks for good quality video and thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts and condolences for your fellow storm chasers, people need to be reminded, despite the hundreds of videos online, of the danger in storm chasing and the bravery of those who follow storms. Take care and godspeed.
what i learned:
keep a full tank of gas at all times to get the heck out 😭😭😭😭💀
Peachy♡ not only that, but make sure to have a few spare cans.
And use a pickup at all times or what happened to Tim samaras
@@KaiserStormTracking even a 3 ton pickup with a large extended heavy cabin wont stop a tornado
it'll throw that like a toy
I really enjoy your content because you know what you are doing but remain chill about it. Thank you for not over exaggerating your excitement and not yelling in your videos like other chasers! Keep them coming! Stay safe out there!
how many windshields do you go through per year?
2.5
Pecos Hank .5?
It's an average number. If he loses 5 in 2 years it makes an average of 2.5 per year for example.
I'm a current, but long-tenured meteorologist in TX and appreciate yours and Jayjack's way of chasing. There's a couple of others I like too, which is basically those who keep it safe and professional, show the human side, and don't scream and yell like a banshee or kids for sensationalism (no references needed). Thanks Hank.
Sending my Sympathys to you Pecos Hank and to the families of Kelley, Randy and Corbin. Love watching these videos but when this happens...Damn I get to asking myself why? Sometimes life really, really sucks
I've seen every single video of yours, this is my first time commenting and the end was very touching Hank. I seen the livestream of Kelly and You talking in Oklahoma and it sounded like Kelly really valued your friendship. Kelly and Randy were amazing guys and they will be deeply missed. Great video Hank.
Congrats on 100k!
Im so sorry for your loss. But congratulations for getting 100,000 subscribers! You really are one of my favorite storm chasers on UA-cam! I'll wish you good luck on your next storm chase
I have a questions. How much money a month do you have to pay to get your car fixed because you got crapped on by all that hail
Going to be a great season! Glad I'm strapped in with Pecos Hank for the ride! Cheers from Austin! I hope I can see you perform here sometime soon...
Great video. Sad to hear the ending. Tough news when it came out.
Thank you for adding the ending and telling the story of your friendship with Kelley. I've followed him for quite some time and he had some of the best live video. He and Randy were great to follow during the chase. I did not know Corbin, but I understand he was well liked and had a following of his own. May they all R.I.P. Keep up the great work, Hank. Your videos are awesome!
My school had a tornado watch today but thankfully nothing touched down.
Same
Kate Hovey I'm home with a sprained foot lol
Kate Hovey same
Equally the only footage I've ever seen that has been able to capture the roar of a tornado... absolutely awesome!
that cow lol, he just wanted a cameo.
Great to see you back for another season. Love your videos, you are the number 1 storm chaser my friend. Stay safe, I look forward to more fantastic vids like this one it's just a shame you tube doesn't show 4k vids yet. Take care
When I first hear about the Storm Chasers who died on the radio they didn't say the names. My first thought I was I really hope it wasn't Pecos Hank. My thoughts go out to the families of those who passed. If there is anything to be taken away from it - it's that they died doing what they loved. We should all be so lucky.
Another fantastic video!!!! I only watch Hank's chase videos, no yelling, no hysterics, and sometimes some humor.
RIP
The storm chasers who lost their lives
Congrats on 100K subscribers!! I've been watching since May of 2015 on another account of mine and I have watched ever since. I really love your videos!

Moooooo!!!🐮🐮
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. My condolences. May they rest in peace. On a lighter note, I really just come on UA-cam when I see that you posted another masterpiece. I love your work. Seeing a tornado in person is definitely on my bucket list! Thanks for sharing!!
Do hailproof wind shields exist?
I'm pretty sure they do but they can't be cheap
Pebscicle Pebs
There's no such thing as hail proof. But hail resistant windshields. Kinda like bullet "proof" glass it's actually called bullet resistant.
Pebscicle Pebs on fishing boats we use a version of it called lexan. stuff is polycarbonate plastic, so it's shatter proof, buuuuuuuuuut it's soft enough to scratch easily.
it's not cheap, but it works.
carrickbender and what if you put a lair of sapphire above it? Win win?
Yes, its called bullet-proof glass
Looking forward to your videos this season. This is by far the best tornado footage online, and your voice is perfect for the narration; like tornadoes it is sinister and mysterious.
Cow: "Mooove....MOOOOOOVE"
Wow, this is the best tornado video I have ever seen. Great camera work! Your calmness, and videography was incredible!
96 of the down votes were the cows at the beginning of this video
Finally a tornado video with good audio! At 4:24, you can hear the fury of the tornado really well. Not many videographers capture that important detail. Great work, Hank.
that cow sounds like me when I hear tornado sirens
the season is back.....
well, since this is my first time seeing and watching hanks chasing vids in full swing....
ima gonna have a blast
Pecos Hank WHEN I GROW UP I WANT TO BE A STORM CHASER TOO! I'M ONLY TEN THOUGH.
Same with me im almost 10
Follow your dreams some people will change their minds when growing up.

Hey Hank!! Congratulations on getting 100,000 subscribers! You really deserved it!!
sorry about your friend homie.
CONGRATS ON 100K
you're a great UA-camr
Keep doing what your doing
sad that your friend died #rest in peas
I always look forward to your videos- not only for the storm footage, but also because of the profound love of nature that you demonstrate in each of them. You have a marvelous gift for describing a natural phenomenon in an almost supernatural way. I appreciate what you and the rest of the storm chaser community are doing out there- often under great hardship and greater danger- so that the rest of us can learn about these storms and, hopefully, be better prepared for them. Thank you.
Doesn't the hail kill the cows? Why aren't they inside a safe place😡
Paradise Coming because its not like the cops can go up to the tornado and yell get to the ground and then start shooting it..,sorry
emily facemire what are you talking about? I never said a word about 'cops' !!!
Paradise Coming I was joking Jesus
emily facemire Really? ok..... Well I didn't know that. Sorry!
Eye Opener. If you were to delete a comment, would all the replies to it get deleted, too? And then you could repost and start over with maybe some regular people responding? Just wondering, because I thought the same thing about the cow. It wasn't mad, it was scared.
congratulations on 100,000 subscribers Hank. it takes bravery for one to go out and do this. I am oustanded.
poor animals
Thank you for sharing with us this incredible footage! You are an incredible artist with not only your incredible photography and videos of tornadoes, but also with your music! Sorry to hear about those men who lost their lives. Hope you have a safe year and keep on doing what makes you happiest!
Can you take me on a hunt with you? Like a stupid tourist?
TORNADO SEASON AT LAST! MORE VIDEOS! Hank's back in business
ALSO: Sorry for the loss of your friend. Hope you're keeping your spirits up.
LASTLY: Congratulations on 100k subs! Holy cow!
Very impressive video, Hank. My condolences to you on the tragic loss of your friends and colleagues. May their memory live on with those who knew them.
Awesome footage, Hank. See this is when I think tornadoes look beautiful, is when they are out in the middle of nowhere, doing no damage to anything except leaving tracks on the ground. Thank you for posting. Please be safe out there.
It takes some damn good skill to film/narrate a tornado, predict it's path, all while focusing on the road..
I have a hard time picking my nose for gold while driving.
Beautiful footage, as per usual. My deepest condolences for you loss, Hank. Keep safe, friend.
Hey Hank! You've been growing so fast! I remember when I started following you at 20K subs, and to grow 1000 subs in a days notice, its amazing!
Happy Trails!
also RIP to the 3 storm chasers. May they rest peacefully.
Pecos Hank! Your videos of this weather phenomenon never cease to amaze me. Weather as a whole and storm chasing has been a passion of mine since I can remember. Your videos are some of the best I've watched on the internet. There is just something mesmerizing about watching one of these beasts steamroll across an open field. The stark contrast of absolute mayhem occurring alongside an otherwise relatively calm and quiet environment leaves me awestruck every time. I have a lot of respect for these super-cells and the chasers that put their lives on the line for others. Stay safe out there Pecos Hank!
RIP Kelley, Randy, and Corbin. My condolences to the friends and families affected by this tragedy. All three of you will be missed by many.
Best raw tornado footage on UA-cam, I love the added humour too, looking forward to this tornado season and your videos! Stay safe ☺👍🏻
I love the 1st 1/2 of this video. The tornado is beautiful and people in cars can't resist the urge to stop and film, crazy ! Sorry for the loss of lives...
Thanks for always putting yourself out there to bring these amazing videos to us.
what an amazing twister on an amazing channel. hank definitely deserves a silver play button.
