I have had a long love affair with cotton, and I love spinning cotton. It does take a lot of practice, and I can always get better. I envy you. Native cotton is illegal here, to eliminate competition, and it's nearly extinct. I can't get it, but I love all cotton. I love the nano spinner. We ordered 3 days ago. It's already here and I'm already spinning slivers. :)

Being an Ag teacher has its benefits.. I took my EEW6 in for a wool spinning experience. I laid out all the different kind of fibers and let them touch all of them and those who wanted to give spinning a whirl, I set up on my EEW6. A few students thought it was really cool and a couple girls thought they might want to at least get into crochet/knitting. I just sent this video to one of my students who is an alpaca farmer because she wants to spin. She's going to check out the mini. :)
I also do a little history unit on "the olden days" and have them gin some cotton. Free labor! 🤣 I will have to try spinning it on my EEW.
Thanks for this video. You always inspire me.

Also, plant the seeds!! I was successful in growing cotton the past couple of years over here in north-central Indiana.

I started with my first electric wheel with the Nano. When the bibber 6.0 came out I jumped on the chance. With this latest upgrade on the Nano, I decided to update my current Nano with the better motor and circuit board. I have not had any problems with these, other than the typical "user errors." 😄 Easily fixed! This company is amazing for service, and the very active Electric Eel Wheel user community is fantastic for helping with any issues. I also have his yarn counter and love it. Watching you spin the cotton was really good. That is something I've not had any success with on my traditional wheels or spindles. Mayve now I'll try it again on one of my Eel Wheels.

I didn't realize you were on you tube... a friend told me she was watching it and heard you say Florida Native Cotton. She had to ask me about it. I confessed that I sent it to you. Hope you have enjoyed it ~ it sounds like you are.

I have only spun cotton on a spindle and one of the reasons I bought the EEW6 was to spin cotton. I have now also purchased the Nano2, but I still have not spun any cotton. Thanks for reminding me that I want to do that. Blessings.

Thanks for your video. I’m new to spinning and a new owner of the nano2. I’m using this to create yarn to use in my felted textiles to add texture and use the yarn to embellish. My initial idea was to go camping in my Vw kombi with my Nano 2 and spin on the road. I’m glad you said about the lightweight/ travel size and not really suited to production spinning. Thanks for all your videos.
I’m already having so much fun I’m thinking of the bigger ewheel. Though my $Aus is very low atm. So I’ll wait a bit.

Hello! I am a new subscriber and I am wanting to learn to spin, would you recommend the nano 2 as a good learner e spinner? Or, should I just wait until the new eew 6.1 comes out? I will be attending a spinning class in June 2024 but I really don’t want to wait that long if I don’t have to. What are your thoughts?

Hello! Thank you for subscribing, I really appreciate it! 🥰. I would say if you want to dive in and start exploring, go for the nano 2! If you feel like you've outgrown it after you take the class and spin with it for a while, you could always consider selling it and upgrading to the 6.1.

I loved this episode. I just recently bought the Nano2 and the EEW6 arrived today. The only thing is, the new foot pedal is so different from your footpedal. Did you convert that over, or did he used to have a much bigger pedal? I am using mine by hand because the foot pedal is so small now. I love the way you have decorated your wheels. How did you get the tatoos on there? I need to look for some of those for mine. Thanks for the wonderful featuring of Maurice's various wheels. I love my eel wheels.

Yes, the original pedal was much larger! I love using temporary tattoos to decorate! They apply just as if you were putting them on skin, and remove just as easy with a little rubbing alcohol.

I have both pedals and because of the way I spin I use them up on the table and use my hand instead of my foot. The new smaller version takes much less pressure to get to work and is much easier to use (at least the way I use it). Blessings.

The only way I’ve been able to spin cotton is with my Nano.

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this! The first nano does have some quirks that were worked out with the nano 2, but take up seems to be the most common problem. The Facebook page has tons of helpful suggestions, but in my experience, treating these little machines like a spindle rather than a spinning wheel works pretty well. You need to draft quickly and feed it onto the bobbin rather than waiting for it to pull the single onto the bobbin.

Where do you get the base? I don't see it on the website.

All of of after purchase add ons, like the battery base and bobbins were made by snortimers hub. I put the link in the description 😁
