Since everyone is doing it, I thought I might as well. The intro did remind me of Muse's Stockholm Syndrome and Hysteria, but apart from that I didn't notice any other similarities
The chorus sound similar to SS. Btw I'm NOT saying that DT copied Muse, I love both bands (maybe muse a bit more) and of course a band is gonna be inspired by some others. It's just how it works.
Im i the only one that thinks they inspire muse and muse inspires them in their older stuff, this is inspired by stolcholm syndrome, but glorious by muse is inspired by panick attack
Come on guys, all bands have influences from other bands, when you like something a lot, it affects the way you come up with new things in the future when composing, like it or not, it will happen.
This is some fuk*** creepy shi*!!! I know Mangini is awesome drummer, amazing technique... but Mad Mike is some fuk***** brain shi*** amazing drumming here, really stunning song
It's not the time who can give influence, therefore Muse influenced Dream Theater and Dream Theater influenced Muse. Influence is timeless for someone who can make the link between two works.
I wonder if a Muse fan who's never listened to Dream Theater would hear this as a Muse song an recognize that it isn't them. Before listening to LaBrie, I mean. Maybe a b-side?
I know this comment is old, but I got into DT a couple of years before getting into Muse, I did not realize this song had so much Muse influence until a year ago, but still, it sounds like DT, yes, with a heavy Muse influence, but still DT
Haha I listned to my playlist on tidal and the playlist ran out and I was listening with one ear. Because it was only my right ear I thought this was hysteria but sounded a little different cause I didnt have my left ear bud too, then the vocals kicked in and I realized it wasnt hysteria.
I didn't even know stockholm syndrome etc. back in 2005 and was only vaguely familiar with their style, but immediately recognized this song to sound exactly like MUSE. That's what I used to love about DT: they could sound like many bands or genres, if they wanted to.... that is, before they converged to one style (mystical) and straightened / fucked up the drums by letting Portnoy go without an even remotely adequate replacement...
I genuinely dislike DM, i find it soulless and tedious. Prog bands that both predated and preceded them made me interesting, evocative, artistically well progressive. Dream Theater is like video game music made by North Korean teens on Adderal. Taking itself a little too seriously, and not saying a whole lot or painting a unique picture that I find enjoyable. I’m fine with hyper technical music, I’d take Necrophagist over this any day, but there is a sterile aspect to DMs music I could never get past. I’m glad you guys enjoy it though.
@@mellowtron214Well it's okay, I guess. One thing I wonder about though is how you ended up on the least popular song in a relatively unpopular album of a band you don't even like 🤨
TheReaverOfDarkness it is pretty damn similar. There's nothing wrong with that. SS is a great song, and this song is great as well. They changed it enough to still stand on its own, while having the very Muse-esque sound.
I guess using the exact same progression for the chorus (including vocal melody, wich is obvious) and having such a similar main riff and tom-based verses is NEVER ENOUGH to hint at people they took inspiration from muse
Some of the Guitar riffs are similar to Stockholm syndrome, as well as the drum beats. But I like this just as much as Stockholm syndrome if not better!
They purposefully made it to pay homage to Stockholm Syndrome and Muse did the same on their next album with Assassin. Has a very DT sound. It’s great little comradeship between the bands

Since everyone is doing it, I thought I might as well. The intro did remind me of Muse's Stockholm Syndrome and Hysteria, but apart from that I didn't notice any other similarities
***** No. Please no. I can't stand LaBrie's kind of voice so I personally disagree
The chorus sound similar to SS.
Btw I'm NOT saying that DT copied Muse, I love both bands (maybe muse a bit more) and of course a band is gonna be inspired by some others. It's just how it works.
sweet!
MUSE ????? hysteria ?? Syndrome Stockholm ?? XD
+Ryan Monahan omg
+Ryan Monahan exactly my thoughts when i heard it the first time on spotify 10 minutes ago hahaa
jsjsjsjsj xD
And Bliss and Butterflys and hurricanes
Ryan Monahan this one is better though
Im i the only one that thinks they inspire muse and muse inspires them in their older stuff, this is inspired by stolcholm syndrome, but glorious by muse is inspired by panick attack
The "Map of the problematique" hi hat chops though.
Come on guys, all bands have influences from other bands, when you like something a lot, it affects the way you come up with new things in the future when composing, like it or not, it will happen.
are you implying that we dislike it
I wonder if Mangini will ever write his own Never Enough, due to all the flack he gets from the portnoy fan boys just because he isn’t Portnoy
This is some fuk*** creepy shi*!!! I know Mangini is awesome drummer, amazing technique... but Mad Mike is some fuk***** brain shi*** amazing drumming here, really stunning song
@JStubbsD You know that Octavarium was released before Black Holes and Revelations was, right? >.>
@JStubbsD You know that Dream theater was born in ´85, when dominic, mathew and cris were 10 years old?
music is great and then the vocals kick in...
Just came here after watching the untethered angel's comment section, what a fun experience
Some parts of music progression reminds me Echoes from Pink Floyd
i dedicate this song to that dream theater fans in every new dream theater song music videos
I've never heard this song by muse
It's not the time who can give influence, therefore Muse influenced Dream Theater and Dream Theater influenced Muse.
Influence is timeless for someone who can make the link between two works.
Muse influence is heavy in this one
I wonder if a Muse fan who's never listened to Dream Theater would hear this as a Muse song an recognize that it isn't them. Before listening to LaBrie, I mean. Maybe a b-side?
DT's style on this song is so similar to Muse's that i don't know if i'd be able to not recognize it as a Muse song.
What if Muse and DT had a child
Well, both songs fit good! It's like Hysteria + SS
Muse influence, cool.
This song is like Muse, but better.
What is Museee?????
*The part of the solo at **4:47** always reminds me of Batman. It could be a Batman theme song or something.*
One thing I wonder about though is how you ended up on the least popular song in a relatively unpopular album of a band you don't even like 🤨
4:15
/r/muse was right! This does sound similar to Stockholm Syndrome!
+TheSvenVids /r/muse is always right! /r/muse is love, /r/muse is life
It's actually not very similar to Stockholm Syndrome, but I guess parroting someone else's views is what makes you happy...
TheReaverOfDarkness it is pretty damn similar. There's nothing wrong with that. SS is a great song, and this song is great as well. They changed it enough to still stand on its own, while having the very Muse-esque sound.
I guess using the exact same progression for the chorus (including vocal melody, wich is obvious) and having such a similar main riff and tom-based verses is NEVER ENOUGH to hint at people they took inspiration from muse
yea i read the comments, everyone talking about muse
I can see the blood on the floor ;-)
muse??
No wonder dream theater and muse sound very similar
Some of the Guitar riffs are similar to Stockholm syndrome, as well as the drum beats. But I like this just as much as Stockholm syndrome if not better!
💪
If this was any more similar to Stolkholm Syndrome there might be legal issues.
Just... not knocking this song, but damn.
They purposefully made it to pay homage to Stockholm Syndrome and Muse did the same on their next album with Assassin. Has a very DT sound. It’s great little comradeship between the bands
alguien sabe con que instrumento hacen la parte inicial de la canción??
Ignacio Lizana Tapia Es un teclado sintetizador, el que usa jordan rudess
Absolution was released in 2003, Octavarium in 2005. Go figure.
Savage Matt Bellamy appear
