  • Patrick Leenen developed a revolutionary new way of no-nonsense treatment of mentally ill people.
From studying psychology and dual diagnostics Patrick worked in different roles at GGZ for many years. He was surprised by the fact that treatments for addicts were stopped when they fell back into old habits. “You don’t stop a psychological treatment when someone has an episode, why do we stop the treatment for addicts?”
Patrick developed a no-nonsense treatment which addresses every part of a sick person’s life. Not just the illness but also everything that illness has destroyed, from financial issues to personal life. “There is a trend of ‘pleasing’ in the healthcare system, making the patient a shared decision maker. We shouldn’t bend the rules. We try to help a client but at the same time we hold on to the same rules that apply for ourselves. This way the client rehabilitates better.” Patrick shows amazing results with his treatment method. What those results are, you’ll hear in his talk.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I wonder how many generations it will take to take the stigma aways from mental pain and suffering?

Um, when suffering occurs, it's either prolonged pain and/or trying to do or endure something. There are different types of people, but they can select for those. The ones who don't get the benefit of learning are low on the ladder, because learning is a basic function. There can be an emotional or magnetic/drug problem, but really it gets to be too difficult. I would force them to explain what would make them able to do their job.

Early part of the talk was wonderful, but when he discussed MAD approach, he diverted from the overall purpose. It was confusing even, less explained than it could be. And the title of video is not apt.

part of this missed, people suffer for many reasons not all as solvable as Jane, jane can be broken in non fixable ways e.g. dunning kruger , believing in approaches that cannot work ( all doctors and pills/narcotics are good and help, there are pain free ways forward), and are sociopathic narcissistic etc from equally broken parents, and pursue self destructive suicide like behaviors as they are to blind to see, and or get attention from being the victim in need.

This is kind of ‘well dah!’. Treat the real causes of the problem not just the symptoms - which can often mislead the diagnosis. And secondly, medicine today wants the instant fix, give them a pill and it will make things easier. But not always for the patient.

You say that ur results are only 10% as opposed to the current 85% but on what scale? Your trial is probably 10,000 insteD of 100,000,000 or something,,, what ur really proposing is the doctor to become a counselor , but it won't work, because if the doctor can't prescribe medication then there is no revenue and no money for the pharmaceutical system which will ultimately put the doctors out of work , and maybe a doctor being a councilor will work and maybe it won't,,,, but in yr story u said the woman got sent to a psych or councillors anyway and it didn't help, so what's the difference,, And I'm curious to know weather u r trying to say u have only a 10% fall back rate for the drug addict sons etc,, because not to be negative but I seriously doubt that,,, and if u do, then maybe make a rehab drug rehab or drug free lifestyle place and make ur money that way,, u have some fundamental flaws according to the law attraction too,, trying to find the root of the problem is no different than psychiatry. All people do is talk about their problems which keeps them activated. I like ur ideas of the doctor system not working but I'm highly sceptical on ur solutions, the percentage surveys sound bodgey to me , how many patients were in ur survey

he didnt ask doctor to be psychiatry he only criticized their method you know that doctor nowadays arent all good right? some bcm doctor for mainly money, title or pride. and of course maybe he only have 10.000 ppl for his data and the data for 85% are maybe from 1000x times(but its accurate u dont have to know where he got that data from just see your surroundings see our society see ppl with emotional problems like jane that rely on doctor`s drug for years and didnt rly change or maybe turned even worse) more ppl thats bcs we`re talking about a method thats been used and approved by the official medication worldwide for a long time versus a method thats fresh, new, and from his presentation his method rly wont get much support from medical world bcs mainly like you said its about money and you need to be rly care for ur patient as a friend you love not as an person who needs to be treated with medicine and empty inspirational words, thats why i rly liked when he said at the end he encourage us to do this method to our friends, bcs this method rly suited for a "friend" role, this works so much better than giving ppl medicine and make them like a living dead with lifeless soul. i myself can relate to jane if u have a problem especially its bcs of ppl u meet everyday it sucks and medicine wont cure you, in my case its my family maybe its a small problem and different on opinions and mindset but that all small problem pilled up everyday until eventually i go rly depressed i cant sleep,i bcm paranoid, mood swings,i feel small,i feel like my family push me around to the corner. i realized this bcm bad for my health and i just wanted to get a work and go out from that house so i dont have to deal with them anymore but im still new on work life and still cant afford an apartment so i force myself with changing my mindset, changing how im approach my problems, anxiety. i rly get many help from ted talks bcs everybody just giving those empty inspirational words and i always wanted my somebody approaches me with that method bcs it will goes depper to my problems and connect with with each other on emotional level. i wont force you to agree with his idea, bcs this method doesnt need drugs or money but instead a care for other person problem and everybody can do this. ive seen my friends get worse with their problem and bcm addicted to doctor`s drugs thats making their physically weaker too. ppl like him rly should be more known

I'd take this talk with a grain of salt. This guy lies about his credentials so he can continue to run his publicly funded ponzischeme after his first attempt went bankrupt.
