Mother of 8 breaks down crying when she sees gift from Secret Santa - then sends a touching message

- Secret Santa is back and this Christmas is bigger than ever!
The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local man gift more than $500,000 this holiday season. A lot more. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to help as many people as he can.
We will be surprising deserving people and families every day from now until Christmas with gifts unique to their circumstances.
Carissa and Randy Heaps are the parents of eight children. Carissa's family has deep roots in Jefferson County. She and her husband have moved around a bit but they returned back home three years ago to help her aging parents.
Carissa's mother has suffered from multiple sclerosis for many years and her dad has dementia. The Heaps recently found out that Randy has a severe case of early-onset dementia and brain tumors. He is no longer able to work and they frequently take trips to Salt Lake City so he can receive medical care. Their vehicles all have over 150,000 miles on them and constantly break down.
The Heaps have always been self-sufficient, hard-working and generous to others. They have always planned for a “rainy day,” which they have relied on, but now the rainy day has become a hurricane.
Secret Santa wanted to surprise the Heaps with an early Christmas gift so he asked the East Idaho News elves to pay them a visit. Watch the video above to see the surprise - and the touching message Carissa sent after receiving her present.

Every time time I watch Secret Santa give a gift to someone who really struggles, he has gifted me as well.
Same! It makes me feel good knowing there’s other humans out there who are generous and thoughtful and supportive. I don’t have much in terms of money, but someday I will and I can’t wait to surprise someone deserving.

When she breaks down at the end, she's clearly happy about the car, but a lot of that emotion is coming from the realization that her struggles are being acknowledged and she doesn't feel alone.
I am So happy that hard working and deserving People like her and her Husband get Something they have deserved So much. I am happy for their joy and for the Secret Santa's JOY discovering the Happiness his or her Generosity has brought to Carissa, her Husband and Family. Daphne Lattimer Pepperoni rolls! After teaching in WV for 28 years I moved to a village in Zambia. I’m a house dad to 9 orphaned boys and head teacher at a school for orphaned and vulnerable children. I’ve been here for 11 years and love it. I miss the mountains though.

@Tt Miller Stephanie is right, the cat was making a movement with his front paws that is common with happy and content cats. They do it to stimulate milk flow as kittens and as adults still make the movements when happy.

Watching this makes me feel like everything will be ok. I lost my mom 3 yrs ago now my father is on Hospice. Holidays are coming up. I adopted my grandchildren last January. They remind my heart of the love of Christ and to rise above and keep going. Every morning at 5 am I watch Secret Santa. It starts my day of with great joy. God bless anyone reading this. Rise above keep going and know God is with you.

I discovered these EIN Secret Santa videos and have totally gone down their “rabbit hole” this weekend! This is one of my favorites - partly because of Carissa’s beautiful reaction and gratitude but also because my father passed away about 6 months ago after fighting dementia for the final 5+ years of his life. Secret Santa, whoever you are, you’re not just blessing the lives of those receiving your extraordinarily kind gifts. You and EIN have touched me in a profound way and have inspired me to give at least one (much more modest) Secret Santa gift to a person in need this Christmas. Thank you, and God bless!

Dear Carissa, your note says it all and though I'm not involved in Secret Santa I'd still like to thank you for writing it. Hope you have a super 2024 Christmas.
I lived in the UK and was out shopping in Gloucester UK with my family, we stepped into a doorway for shelter from the snow. A young mother and baby was shivering there, my wife took charge, we took the pair to a department store where the mother could take care of her little girl. Then to the cafe to get them warm and fed, we took them home and our girls doubled up in a bedroom to give them one. We contacted social services who moved at a snail's pace and so the pair stayed with us over the holiday. Mum insisted on doing most of the chores as a thank you.
We got them sorted out with a place to stay and a one day a week house cleaning job. More would have affected her social payment, but she did go home each visit with more than she could carry. The big plus was we stayed friends for many years afterwards.
I tell everyone I know about these videos. Thanks so much to the Secret Santa for all you do. Nate, if you and your family ever come to see Nova Scotia, we'd happily be your tour guides. 😊 Stay safe everyone. 💗

Beautiful cat!! When husband carries the cat through the whole thing and the cat is totally OK, I know these are lovely people! This is heart wrenching. She vowed for better or for worse, but didn’t think about brain tumors. I’m glad dome rich people know they are fortunate and help their community.
