This booster jet engine is making a comeback in Baleno crossover SUV called 'Fronx'. I hope it becomes a more tuner friendly engine this time around. It'll also have better mileage as it is coming with hybrid system too.
Boosterjet 1.0 was not the first car with a 1.0gdi engine, it was ecoboost 1.0 on the ecosport. It was available in India since 2013. It is still the most powerful 1.0 gdi on paper.
What the RS desperately needed was a good suspension tune. Get a good coil over kit (like Blitz or Tien) and the magic will unfold. You will find that you actually do not need an iota more of power to enjoy this car. Also what was not said in the video is that this has rear disc brakes as well.
Its not 3 cylinder trend, its 3 CYLINDER EPIDEMIC. Just can't tolerate the clatter odd cylinders make. I prefer 4 cylinder santro engine over this anyday.
Very true bud! I own 1.0 TSI Polo and when I drove 1.2 GT it was such a good when it comes to vibration and feel.. no doubt 1.0 is a good performance engine but 1.2 was the one which really makes damn good feeling
Bro, I think you know grand i10 Nios turbo. Which has same engine of i20 n line and puts 20 less hp but same amount of torque as i20 (100hp & 172nm) and also weighs almost 100 kg lighter than i20 n line. Mainly it has proper manual transmission. This is also stopped production, bought somehow we got the the new one as it was in stock Pune. I'm from Bengaluru, this flies compare i20 n line. I drove i20 n line dct but this feels much more faster than i20 and in 0-100 it has slightly faster time than polo as well.
Exactly that car is widest and longest wheel base in the segment, sometimes these people really over exaggerate a little bit by not doing good research.

I have an RS and am driving it daily since the past 5 years & believe me the mileage is between 13-14in the city, and yes on highway it definitely gives a mileage around 18. 21 is overated bro, u wont see that kind off mileage.

Bro JTP can be considered although I tried taking a test drive of that car many times but I never got one because it never came to Showrooms in Indore and Bhopal as far as ik. It was really short lived. And to be frank a 1.2 NA Baleno would defeat an I-turbo Altroz!

When Baleno is launched from 0kmph at 4k rpm and that too with minimal wheel spin (using clutch extensively) then it does a great job in 0-100 part. But the thing is Altroz I-turbo has a turbo which gives it an edge in ingear acceleration, while NA baleno needs to be kept over 2.5-3k rpm to gain the most power out of it….
But if you look closely it has 2 PS less power and 2 Nm less torque and not to forget that fronx is around 65 to 80 kgs heavier than the Baleno RS and it's also going to be less aerodynamic too!!
Baleno rs engine was good the baleno car is light weight due to which you don’t get confidence like vw and ford at high speeds. Moreover the suspension of baleno was not that great.
i have owned baleno rs real review is, its totally waste of money for me personally i will not pay such a huge amount just for performance secondly its mileage as it is a performance based engine i could not get more than 10 km/pl even after a smmoth driving and on the highway it may give around 15-16 Very poor steering response hard suspension Thirdly and the important point its maintenance is 5x of normal petrol baleno and when it come to part replacement be ready to empty your pockets and also you will not get the spares easily once car gone to workshop for replacement it's not returning to home within 2-3 days i would rate this car 2.5 out of 5
its much better now to maintain as the boosterjet is not made in India, for eg. a baleno rs oil filter costs 860rs but the same filter for the indian version costs 80 rs only. the Fronx with this engine is muchhh better in terms of all the things you mentioned as well.

VW Polo is 4* rated and not 5* but it's the combination of built and performance which does the magic and both cost similar. Anyways, Suzuki decided to completely neglect built and I don't even consider MS. Not even short listed and this is after owning MS 800 and the very first WagonR which came to India. Hope this changes and I'll definitely reconsider. Now I'm owning a VW Taigun Topline AT and really not happy with cost cuttings done.
27-30 kml is not an everyday fuel economy for a polo tsi… i drive an polo tsi and I roughly get around 10-11 kmpl in normal city conditions…(not heavy traffic) on highway if i drive the car on 70kmph i get 25+ but thats only for certain kms after that it starts to drop off also if you drive the car on highway on 90-100 u get 15-16 which is good but Maruti suzuki cars just give better fuel eco
Hi Saatvik! Interestingly enough, we have done two thorough tests on fuel economy on a stock 1.0 TSI AT and a Stage 2 1.0 GT TSI. Both videos will come out very soon but the thing with the TSIs is that, those numbers are unicorns. You can extract those numbers in very specific conditions and only on wide open highways. In the city, 1.0 TSI drinks fuel like no one's business and that's where the Baleno RS shines. It is fuel economical throughout, maybe it's peak isn't as high as the TSI but the lows aren't low either.
