These are where the poorest of joburgers live. This part of Joburg, referred to as the Northern suburbs is more “recent” , developed over the last 30 years or so where the rich live . Instead of focusing on urban renewal for central JHB, development was focused towards the more northern areas; your Fourways, Randburg, Sandton and Midrand etc. You clearly see the difference in this video . The streets are relatively clean, the grass manicured and there are new buildings . People often complain that the city has regressed but that’s because they’re considering the original city centre . South Africa has a high rape rate, with 43,195 rapes reported in 2014/15, and an unknown number of sexual assaults going unreported.[207] A 2009 survey of 1,738 men in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape by the Medical Research Council found one in four men admitted to raping someone,[208] and another survey of 4,000 women in Johannesburg by CIET Africa found one in three said they had been raped in the past year. The incidence of child and infant rape is among the highest in the world, largely as a result of the virgin cleansing myth, and a number of high-profile cases (sometimes as young as eight months)[211] have outraged the nation. Thank you for uploading. The drive looked so relaxing and Johannesburg looks like such a nice place to live.
Between 1994 and 2018, there were more than 500 xenophobic attacks against foreigners in South Africa.[213] The 2019 Johannesburg riots were similar in nature and origin to the 2008 xenophobic riots that also occurred in Johannesburg. But yes, it's a nice place to live, sure.
I stay here but in summer it’s bit annoying cause it’s raining season, it rains a lot which means you spend most of the time indoors
@@ilfouco1541 a bit exaggeration, it can go 2 weeks without raining and those trees need rain to stay green 💚 right?

Johannesburg looks very different in this video than the last video you recorded there, and beautiful too.
Johanneburg is massive. Way bigger than New York. So you will find all sorts of places.
I’m pretty sure metro NY is bigger in terms of population and size compared to Johannesburg.
@@DD-ws6cu New York city has a bigger population but Johannesburg is 3 times bigger than new York in Land mass.
@@sbanda1909 The continuous urban area in NY is massive though; it stretches throughout Long Island, into Connecticut, and down into New Jersey. The NY metro area is 34,493 square km. I don't think metro Johannesburg is that big. Regardless, I get the original point of the post which that Johannesburg big relative to other world cities.
@@DD-ws6cu The 5 borroughs of NYC are 783 square kilometres.

Love seeing how beautiful my city is😍😍😍
The city is recognized as the financial capital of South Africa and is home to 74 percent of Corporate Headquarters. South Africa's only stock exchange, the Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE) rates as one of the top 20 exchanges in the world in terms of market capitalisation.
I am not sure if is the only stock exchange we have because I think Cape Town stock exchange was lunched last year but yes everything you said is correct

Lovely from Kenya.
What's with some African vloggers they didn't show this side of Johannesburg.. it's modern and beautiful. As what I have seen no other cities in Africa so far could match the modernity of this city.
Many African bloggers pander to their viewers' hatred of SA caused by jealousy, so, they come and head to the poorest parts, giving them what they want to see or views; confirmation bias.
@@TheIrieman15 And the poorest parts of Johannesburg are the exception, not the norm. Most Joburgers live middle class lifestyles.
@@SirKaison agree, middle to middle upper class.
Beautiful Joburg world class African City
If all this money was kept in the original JHB it would have been close to New York by now.
As a Jo'burger you are 100% correct.
True. I don't understand why they're building bunch of precincts instead of redeveloping the old CBD
Wow I mean can you imagine!! Joburg would be light years ahead.
This was done because of an abundance of land. Once there is no more land then we’ll see areas like CBD being reclaimed and bigger skyscrapers being erected . Just the natural order of things
@@charlesscott4722too dangerous there and the whole place has been hijacked by illegal gangs. It would be a major effort to restore the old CBD so developing other parts is easier. Although they have made progress in some parts of the CBD around braamfontein and marshalltown. Hillbrow is still a no go zone.

But Nowhere richer than Nigeria and Egypt which run Africa's economy
@@nairobinyeusi5811 Much richer than Nigeria actually.
Nigeria's GDP is only slightly above SAs despite NGR having over 200 million people.
Nigeria's GDP would actually have to be 3 to 4 times bigger than it is, just to be on par with SA.
