it was very known but until the other day i hadn't seen the live clip of him playing it on stage with Micheal Jackson. Hearing Micheal reacting to his playing was pretty cool.
When he died, i cried. was the first time I cried over a artist. Eddie was my crush. My first concert was 1979 and from that day on I have been a fan. Eddie was one of a kind. No one played like him. NO ONE> This was normal for us. and by this concert, he had perfected his solos. all parts of songs. a little classical thrown in. People went to thier concerts, in the 80's, just to see eddie solo. I am so glad I went in 2015. Was the last time . and the music was spot on. Miss my crush. Rock on eddie.

There are none 'Better' than Eddie simply because he did so many things first. He was an innovator and everybody who has come since has only been imitating Eddie. You just found what is called a "rabbit hole", my friend. :-)
A few Van Halen songs I'd recommend: "Everybody Wants Some", "Mean Street", and "DOA". I graduated from high school in 1983. I can't even begin to describe how huge Van Halen was back in those days. I remember paying $10.25 to see Van Halen at the old Boston Garden in 1980. My ears are still ringing from that night. Rest In Peace, EVH
He wasn't just a guitarist's guitarist, like someone so pro and technical only other guitarists get it, plenty of them around, everyone loved his playing so much because he had so much damn fun playing, and his enthusiasm is infectious, he played guitar like no other and no one could touch him, yet he was just so cool and laid back about it, never was cocky or stuck up, just wanted to entertain people with what he loved to do.
Thank you for the Reactions. EDDIE was truly a genius of the Guitar. He made his own guitars first one called Frankenstein , Ive been listening to him since 1978 - his first album VAN HALEN Van Halen

I was fortunate enough to have been able to see Van Halen five times (4 times with DLR and once with Sammy) and it was amazing every single time. They were a huge part of the soundtrack to my youth and I will forever be grateful for the gift of music Eddie gave me.
He changed many aspects of recording. In his day they didn't make a guitar not fit his playing style so he made his own. He played on Michael Jackson Thriller album Beat it for free because he loved the music, his endless chase for sounds and tone and innovations contributed to music has changed the world. They had to change how music was written in books because of his playing. I don't care what genre of music you are interested in, everyone owes Eddie a thank you. He is the reason I record and play today. I have saw him live 36 times and never once failed. He is famous for his guitar playing but listen to the songs later on in his career. He had melody, harmony, songwriting skills like no other. He knew how to perform a song and not over do it. He is one of the best innovators in music. Ever. I love you Ed and always will. Music is a universal language. We can all have good conversations. Cheers
“Greatest guitar player in the world” That’s the biggest and boldest claim to make but luckily with Eddie it’s just literal fact. 40 years later and the best guitarists in the world are still trying to catch up to what he was able to make look so easy

Bruh. I've watched about 15 reactions to this solo in the last week, and yours might be my favorite. I can literally see Eddie melting your face off in real time. That's rad.
Thank you so much for showing Eddie Van Halen the respect he has earned. I too wish you could have experienced him in person and live, you would never forget the experience. For a guy who taught himself the guitar without the ability to even read music, he was light years ahead of others. It's not often enough that people cross genres to expand their knowledge of other styles and tastes. Much respect to you for taking the time to do this. I hope it inspires you to keep digging and check out other artists that you might not have given a second thought to otherwise. I just have to say again how incredibly heartbroken and sad I am to find this out. It's been a day or so and I am still just absolutely as distraught as I can be. I just pray to God above that better times lie ahead. I have been a drummer for 45 years and between Neal and Alex they have been my greatest learning experiences tutors mentors coaches and influences. And now to lose Eddie as well is almost more than I can stand. Just so ready for this wretched year to be done....
I never get tired of watching people react to this video. Eddie was one of a kind. I love how much fun he appears to be having during this performance. As someone else pointed out, he was throwing picks into the audience. He went back and forth between playing with a pick or his two-handed tap style playing.
AyeJay, the year started crappy with the lose of Neil Peart. Now, we lose Eddie. I got to see Van Halen a couple times. You have no idea how good he really was until you see him in person. Absolutely the greatest of ALL time. Rest In Peace and Godspeed!
Eddie Van Halen and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The greatest of all time. Both with completely different styles and approaches to their playing, but both were masters of their craft beyond anything that we will ever see again. R.I.P. Eddie and Stevie. Thank you for all the music and the memories. We will forever be in your debt.
I grew up listening to this man shred the guitar. I'm sorry we lost him, just like so many rock gods we lost before their time. RIP Eddie and know we are carrying your torch!
I'm glad you got to see this. He wasn't just stunning to his fans, he blew everyone out of the sky...fans, rockers, rappers, classical...you simply cannot see his magic and not feel moved. Great reaction AyeJay!
Much Respect to you and appreciate your love for Mr . Van Halen. He changed the way the six string is played today. He loved him family and friends as much as his music. Heaven has just received a true Rock God. R.I.P MR V.
Great seeing the reaction from people who have never seen Eddies solos. Simply put he did things on the guitar that nobody had ever done before and was probably told you can’t do that. Total innovator, RIP EVH.
I saw them twice, 1980 and 1984. This vid was 1986. He's No bullshit, he plays that stuff. Thank you for the great reaction. He is a beast on that guitar, Amazing and insane guitar playing. RIP Eddie, we will miss you. Thanks for the great music, style and talent..!
I actually get tears in my eyes when he plays 316. It's named after his son Wolfgang's birthday and is my ring tone. RIP Edward Lodewijk Van Halen. Your fans are heart broken, but grateful for all the great music you gave us!
I grew up with this band..I saw them in concert 3 times and could never get enough. The supreme defintion of Rock God is...Eddie Van Halen. My heart broke as I was driving down the road October 6, 2020. "Eddie Van Halen dead today of health complications" on my radio...I almost wrecked my truck in that moment. To truly appreciate his talent...Van Halen..the first album is the one to listen to...Runnin with the Devil...Aint talkin bout love and Eruption.. a few of the greatest rock songs you will ever hear.
I wanted to say one more thing. Eddie always had a smile on his face, he loved what he did and knew it was special. I grew up with these guys in socal and will never forget them or Eddie.
That damn "cig" is why Eddie is no longer with us, he had years of greatness left in him if not for the damn cancer. RIP Eddie. God is rocking out with Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and now Eddie Van Halen.
You have a point. My dad died the same way. One year older. Tough habit to break though. I can understand why he smoked, but I don’t approve of it. I approve of all that amazing playing though. 🤘🏼
@@hhhdgt Eddie was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 20017and had 4 weeks to live as his son said on air did the pics cause his lung cancer also? Exactly clearly from being a chain smoker and I’m sure other drugs didn’t help his health. Bottom line reman doctors kept him alive flying to Germany here and there. Other than that lung cancer would have claimed his life back ‘17 6 weeks to live. Look it up

My heart is broken ..I was 18 when I bought Van Halens first album. Van Halen changed rock music forever in 1978.Anyone who has never heard the very first album..please treat your ears to heaven. The entire album is gold..but my favorite song on it is "Aint talkin bout love" a rock treasure.
Never heard guitar like this he said, you’re right, and you never will, people will try and may come close but there is only one Eddie I miss him so so glad I got to see him many times.
RIP EVH! Been a massive fan since 1981 and picked up a guitar because of Eddie...I eventually realized I had a natural ability to play drums so thats what Ive done for 30 years. Eddie was from another planet and changed rock guitar forever. Cant wait for you to hear more. Check out their song Amsterdam. Killer song but all of them are amazing. Both versions of VH.
I saw Eddie in 79 at the Texas Jam 2. I was 14...yeah I’m an old dude! I heard Eruption the first time on the radio if anyone remembers Q102 in Dallas. I said to myself “ how the f##k is he doing that?” I saw his solo from about 40 or 50 feet away and I left saying “how the f##k did he do that!” To this day I have not seen a better solo, and I have been to a lot of shows.I feel privileged to have had that opportunity. Like your channel man. R.I.P. Eddie...THE GOAT!
Totally enjoyed this video my good dude. Thank you for paying tribute to this great man. A master of his craft. A man who always smiled. A man who gave you every pennies worth while on stage. I was fortunate enough to grow up 6 miles from The Meadowlands (East Rutherford NJ). I saw just about every band there was when they rolled thru. Hands down and Irons Up Van Halen was the best show I've seen, Several times. Queensryche would follow. 🤘🤘
Literally the first icon I'm looking for to get a handshake and an autograph when I get up there someday. No other like Ed. Rip to the best to ever do it
1978....age 12. He was my first and ALWAYS first guitar hero. The world lost one of the greats. Great reaction, man. Hell of an introduction to Eddie Van Halen, huh? Liked and sub'd!
He takes advantage of the amplification and volume to be able to slap the strings and still make them ring out melodically without having to pick the strings. He was a true master of the instrument. Genius level playing for sure.
Glad to see you're back and doing a first time reaction of one of, if not the greatest, guitar players of all time. His innovations and playing techniques were years ahead of his time. He made his fingers develop the sounds from the strings because in his early days he couldn't afford whammy's & wah's etc and all the other fancy guitar toys. Thanks for doing this video and glad you enjoyed it as much as I do every time I see it.
On top of all the game changing sounds he creates, Eruption is grounded in Beethoven's 5th Symphony. Quite a few of his solos are rooted in classical music.
This is what we grew up listening to in the 80's. This is why all us older folks don't like most new music. No one tries anymore. There is little new talent. Not saying there is none. People just used to work harder. Eddie however, is a hard act to follow. Glad you got to see it though.
I WAS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES TO SEE EDDIE WHEN VAN HALEN CAME TO SAN ANTONIO IN THE 70'S I BELIEVE THOSE ARE HIS PIX HE'S THROWING TO THE FANS MAY YOU REST IN PARADISE EDDIE 🙏 🤘🙏
Hey bro loved your reaction! Yeah I grew up with VH. Product of the 80's. First time I saw VH was in '78 in a small club that in attendance were only 100 people if that. He play just as hard then & as he did in later years. Saw them a total of 8 times in concert. You remind me so much of a gentleman who I use to work with & we became best of buds. Unfortunately he passed from Sickle Cell Anemia at only 34 yrs of age. He was a great man & I miss him terribly. Thank you for making this little video & your comments to truly an innovator & master of the electric guitar. R.I.P. Eddie!
Talk about mind blown. At the tender age of 21, seeing this awesome solo 3 nights in a row at Detroit's Joe Louis arena. I was a fan all through the Roth years, but when Sammy hooked up with them it went over the top. The shock has still not set in on this. RIP Eddie.
AyeJay thanks for an awesome reaction! His passing has been a hard one for me, I've been following him since 1979 (7th) grade. The numerous times see them in concert and all of the great solos I've witnessed! I hope the lump in my throat and the tears will disappear but it's obvious it will take time! Thanks again!🎸💔😢

it was very known but until the other day i hadn't seen the live clip of him playing it on stage with Micheal Jackson. Hearing Micheal reacting to his playing was pretty cool.
He didn't just play the solo, he also (re)arranged the song. Michael loved it and that's the arrangement of "Beat It" we all know and love.
The reason why Eddie put a cigarette on the guitar's neck is because the guitar needed. She knew what was coming.

R.I.P EDDIE you will be missed and thank for memories
He was/is THE MAN...rip king eddie..sad day..bummed out
Eddie Van Halen and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
He's the reason I bought my first guitar back in the 1980's. EVH greatest of alllllll time.
In my humble opinion.
Awe is the only response possible.
To truly appreciate his talent...Van Halen..the first album is the one to listen to...Runnin with the Devil...Aint talkin bout love and Eruption.. a few of the greatest rock songs you will ever hear.
this is talent and magic in one package, if you want to play music grab an instrument and learn to play, no computers needed, the real thing!!!!!
I wanted to say one more thing. Eddie always had a smile on his face, he loved what he did and knew it was special. I grew up with these guys in socal and will never forget them or Eddie.
1978. I was 10yrs old. I heard Eruption for the first time. 1:42 changed my life.
And that is how to play a guitar solo and entertain the crowd. It doesn't get any better.
That damn "cig" is why Eddie is no longer with us, he had years of greatness left in him if not for the damn cancer. RIP Eddie. God is rocking out with Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and now Eddie Van Halen.
This comment should be pinned on all the reactions.
You have a point. My dad died the same way. One year older. Tough habit to break though. I can understand why he smoked, but I don’t approve of it. I approve of all that amazing playing though. 🤘🏼
Eddie claimed it was from holding metal pics in his mouth.. it started as cancer on his tongue... Not lung cancer
Look it up
@@richardremick1639 i know he died of lung cancer.. but before that, he had alot of his tongue removed from cancer... I dont have to "look it up"...i already know all the facts and have been listening and emulating EVH since 79... I didnt just hear about EVH because news of his death and decided to be a fan. ... Like alot of you.
He was drunk, high and still did this LIVE! What a legend. Great reaction! You have a new subscriber 👊
Btw, he was throwing guitar picks.
LISTEN TO THAT 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼❤️❤️💔💔💔🎧 I CANT BELIEVE HE IS GONE!!😔😔😔😔😔😔🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼Legendary Guitar player!!🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼 Will truly be missed!💔💔💔Love from Austin Tx
As if the “Angel Gabriel” descended into Eddie Van Halen in that freestyle playing, that guitar was speaking to the audience..
I saw it live, and this particular tour. It was phenomenal. You are too amazing and I adore you for enjoying Eddie as I have my entire life.
I love seeing Eddie smiling while he plays his guitar 😌
Eddie tossed the picks every time he was tapping on the fret board. The master of Hammer on
Right on
you're expression is priceless because we have all had it - we see it and still can't believe it. He IS a LEGEND!
I love watching people experience this for the first time. Great reaction video man, RIP EDDIE!
Wow, "God wanted to hear it in person." What a great quote and tribute. Absolute gold video. Well Done!
R.I.P. Eddie.😢 Thank you for the awesome experience of seeing you live 2 times back im the day. I was really unbelievable.
RIP Edward Van Halen. Great clip. Thanks for sharing 👍
I WAS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES TO SEE EDDIE WHEN VAN HALEN CAME TO SAN ANTONIO IN THE 70'S I BELIEVE THOSE ARE HIS PIX HE'S THROWING TO THE FANS MAY YOU REST IN PARADISE EDDIE 🙏 🤘🙏
That's everyone's reaction when they first hear Eddie's playing. He was one of a kind.
Eddie , jimi and srv. My favorites Eddie RIP God love you.
