Think about his brother Jimmy. He was the musician in the family before SRV came along and became the GOAT. Poor Jimmy, but yea for all of us to get to witness this talent. And not that Jimmy isn’t great as well.
I love seeing peoples face when Stevie throws the guitar around his back and plays just as fast and smooth as he does normally. It's such a hoot! Been a fan of his for over forty years. Wish he could have had more time on this earth to become even better than he was. He was the definition of a "Cool Dude".
I have been SRV fan for twenty- five years. And Stevie Ray Vaughan and BB King we’re-my I first introduction to blues music I got interested in both of them exact same time. When I was 16 years old and at the time And learned a bit later that he died six years before in a plane crash he was such amazing gifted guitar player and singer. Every time I listen to his music I wonder what could of accomplished if he still alive today. He been gone for 31 years. But I have a feeling it’s going to Inspire many guitarist and many more years to come and generations to come.
So many reactors I’ve seen have to stand up and try to walk it off in the middle of the video. The disbelief is hilarious. Mouth open, staring into the camera saying nothing and looking for an explanation of what they are seeing and hearing. Ha ha! It’s between him and RUSH for blowing Tubers minds! Pure joy!
I got to see this dude live three times, Absolute legend. I'll never forget how gutted I felt when I heard we had lost him. I still get chills when I watch him play.
It still tears me up I never got to see him live. I saw Buddy Guy open for BB King maybe almost 20 years ago now, part of Buddy’s show was talking about people he’d played with and playing a little bit of their music. He spent a good deal of time talking about Stevie and what he had done to elevate the blues in his short time. Buddy’s love for the man was palpable.

If everyone that looked at SRV and said "fuck this shit, I'll never be able to do that" gave up on guitar, there would almost literally be no guitarists left. He just IS his guitar. There is no other way. He can't be playing, he's channeling the music from somewhere and doing his best to play what he's hearing so that mere mortals can understand it.
And to think, he must have had a similar moment listening to his heroes. And it didn't make him go "I can't do that". It made him go "I'm gonna do that". And even if you don't have his talent, it is still good to try to follow in his footsteps.
Amazingly whether on purpose or by accident, his guitar tone matches his voice. Therefore in between singing , his guitar acts as a second voice to continue telling the story without him having to say a word. It’s incredible.
Alex, a few things unique about Stevie's playing... he had massive, unusually strong hands.. if you look closely in most shots of his hands on fretboard you'll see he can wrap his hands completely around the skinnier "mustang" necks he preferred playing. This allowed him to fret and play the upper (E,B, & G) strings with HIS THUMB while playing all 6 strings with the other 4 fingers at the same time.... Also notice the frets on his guitar's fretboard are oversized... they are the thicker, wider fret wire normally used for a Bass Guitar because he bends strings so much and so hard that they wore out too fast with normal guitar frets. He also used different gauge strings and tunings because of his unique sound, preferring thicker strings that could stand up to his aggressive bending. He really produced a lot of "HIS Sound" playing from his hands and through old vintage tube amps, not from lots of devices like pedals or effects.
Regarding the necks he used, what you said isn't actually true. SRV always used standard Strat necks on his Strats. I believe the last iteration of his No 1. Strat used a 59 neck on the 54 body. His guitar tech had to finally replace the original neck with another vintage piece because the old one had been refretted too many times. The base fretboard wood was worn down to the point of no return. Most Mustangs had a 24-inch scale. A Fender Stratocaster has a 25.5" scale. If you were to mount a Mustang's neck onto a Stratocaster body, not only would it not fit correctly, but the intonation would be incredibly off. The distance between the bridge and the nut has to be bisected by the 12th fret. Otherwise the guitar would sound constantly out of tune. So no he did not use Mustang necks on his Stratocasters.
@@gholwiih I literally came here to say the same thing. You are spot on. I will also add that one of the neck changes was because a piece of stage equipment fell on the neck and broke it.
Incredibly large, powerful hands possessed by a very small man. Certainly a very special gift from heaven. God brought him home so he could enjoy the best tunes first hand. SRV is rocking the Angel Band!
Youve just witnessed the BEST blues guitar performance ever recorded, I saw him live twice and it was just as good, Stevie is a bonafide Guitar LEGEND - even Eric Clapton said as much.
The fact that this man bent 13s to the stratosphere for this sound and was rumored to have to super glue the pads of his fingers cause his strings were so thick is forever incredible to me
Listen to Danny Gatton play Sleepwalk all the way through in a bar in DC. Then find him playing anything else that he did and you will be blown away. Sometime online they cut the second half of sleepwalk off so make sure you hear the whole thing. Also listen to Roy Buchannon, Albert Lee, Vince Gill, Glen Campbell.
Don’t give up, Alex! You’ve been practicing for weeks? SRV literally came out of his mama holding a guitar (probably.) Don’t hold yourself to impossible standards, just keep going!!
Actually, there's several versions of how old he was when he started playing. One is he was 7 and another version is he was 13. Neither the less, it was also said he had a great ear and never learned how to read sheet music! There's reports and supposed quotes he said that his older brother was playing guitar, so he thought he would do it too!
Yeah, little Stevie probably played ten hours a day from the time he was about 8 until he was 14 or 15. At that point his band was killing local clubs and it was just a matter of time.
@zackr6 Big brother was his biggest fan and a helluva guitarist in his own right. They played alot together and even recorded an album. The doubleneck strat video is a must.
As someone who has played for 30 years, SRV is my absolute hero. He was the best there ever was or ever will be. I visit his statue every time I'm in Austin. He is the master of the 6 string. He could make that guitar say more than he ever could with his amazing voice.
That, Alex, is the blues oozing from Stevie's every pore. He was one of the greatest blues guitarists of all times. And when he tragically died about 30 miles from where I live then, I cried like a baby. RIP Stevie, your greatness live on forever.
The thing that always scares me about SRV when I listen to him is how someone can play stuff that fast and full of notes and STILL not sound like he's overplaying or just doing something for the sake of doing it. Everything, no matter how complex in his playing, is considered and perfectly placed
I suggest listening to "Sound Check". If you've never woke up after traveling cross-country in your bands' bus, traveling to your next gig, rubbed the sleep outta your eyes, picked up your guitar and played a better "sound check" than most other musicians play in their entire live stage concerts, SRV will knock your socks off.
I was doing exactly what you're doing in 1985. I was absolutely obsessed. This is the greatest guitar performance ever performed. I've been playing for 30 plus years and this STILL blows my phukn doors off. Keep practicing. Lots of it, and you might be one of those with that ridiculous level of talent. SRV is a guitar God.
A few things to know, almost nobody could play Stevie’s guitars because the were strung with #13 strings and he couldn’t read music at all. #13 strings are like steel pipes
His music came from mastering his instrument. Let his example be an inspiration for you to work hard, and more than casually. You can get better than you realize if you put the work in. Cheers, and thanks for another great reaction!
What bugs me is when people say "He was just born to play guitar." Sure, to be THAT F*N amazing, he had a predliction for it. But to GET that great, he played 25 hours a day for almost thirty years
I've listened to this song probably hundreds of times, still gives me goosebumps. This song, and specifically the descending lick at 6:20 is what made me buy my first guitar. Check out some Kenny Wayne Shepherd, he's the modern SRV, in my opinion.
As far as deterrence goes, Kenny Wayne Shepherd literally sat on one of Stevie's amps when he was 7 or something, and then became a master blues guitarist.
Kenny is super! SRV was the Guitar God! Nobody at all as slick as that little fellow. Damn best guitar slinger ever to play. God Bless his soul! They will never be another SRV!!!
Stevie reinvigorated blues back in the 80's, the man was brilliant at his craft & by all accounts very humble & grounded. You should check out live at montreux from 82 before he blew up big, he was a star & Bowie & Jackson Browne recognised it. You should check out Rory Gallagher & Gary Moore for some celtic guitar wizardry.
That’s a fact. I’ve been playing guitar for 30 years myself, and while I don’t consider myself to be more than a mediocre to average player myself, sometimes something will come out of my hands I didn’t know I could do. The music does indeed play you👍
React to Jeff Healey! Lost his sight due to a rare form of eye cancer. He's an amazing Jazz and Blues guitarist and vocalist from Canada! Absolutely amazing!
When I was a beginner guitarist I was impressed by his speed and riffs. As a much more experienced guitarist, it's his taste and timing that really gets me.
I don’t even play an instrument, I just appreciate good music. He makes the guitar sing. Like you said, it’s all the taste and timing, the tone, fade in, fade out. One of a kind.
I love his voice! I sweat the way he drops his voice down a well and makes it echo on the way down 😆 And he's got growl. I'm a sucker for vocals. But his guitar is absolute legend. I could listen to just the guitar on repeat forever ❤️
Alex....DON'T EVER GIVE UP!! You've gotta start somewhere. Do you think SRV came out of the womb playing like that? HELL NO......PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!! That's how you get good. When you get frustrated....PLAY HARDER WITH DETERMINATION! Just think about this for a moment, you have something available to you right now, that people who were trying to learn guitar back in the day didn't have.....UA-cam. Anything about guitar that you could possibly want to learn, is a click away, right at your fingertips. Any chord, any scale, any mode, any song.....there's a quality tutorial posted here. Back when I started playing, you had 3 options to learn, 1.) Pay for, and take in person professional lessons, or purchase course/theory studies on cassette and VHS/BETA tapes.. ( Anyone remember Metal Method?) and learn to read the accompanying tablature that came with the lessons. 2.) Have a friend or family member who was a good player, and who were willing to take the time to teach you. 3.) Sit in your room alone for endless hours, chugging away, breaking songs down, note by note, chord by chord, to figure them out and how to play them. Life today as a budding guitarist has never been easier. For the amount of time you've been at it, you are showing good progress. Especially for doing it on your own with no teacher. You've got a good ear, and a sense of pitch, that's the key...so you're already a few steps ahead of the curve. Don't let SRV intimidate you.....you are just learning to crawl, you can't run alongside of a god as a newbie, lol. Look at SRV as inspiration, and let some of his soul and feel creep it's way into your playing as you progress. Trust me....his licks and hooks will stay embedded in your head, even if you don't initially realize it. Great reaction.....legendary guitarist...taken from us way too soon, but at least we have his recordings and videos as a remembrance, and roadmap to the blues. As always, Peace and love from Baltimore, Md. U.S.A.!!
Not true at all. He had lessons DAILY from his brother Jimmy Vaughn.....who learned things from other players and brought that back home to Stevie. They'd play to albums all day long. If a person were truly "self taught" they'd have their own way of stringing a guitar and their own tuning of it etc. Nobody is truly "self taught" there are others that came before them that they draw inspiration from. So not in the spirit of being self taught or in reality was Stevie "self taught." But the true genius of any player comes from within.....that cannot be taught.
Never give up even Stevie started somewhere. I've been playing for 40 years and I play for myself not for anyone it's the greatest feeling when you master things like taping. Follow your intuition you will never go wrong.
How could he have ever had ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER??!?? In what life would that have ever been possible for STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN?? Every cell, every fiber, every muscle, every drop of blood & sweat, every breath in his entire being was an absolute open conduit for whatever force of genius it was that openly flowed through his whole body, IT WAS ALL SRV & ALL PERFECT PURE GENIUS!!! THAT CAN'T BE TAUGHT OR LEARNED! LIKE MOZART, STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN WAS BORN WITH IT!!! RIP!! WE ALL MISS YOU DEEPLY!!💜
Alex: "What the fuck was that?" Sensai "That, grasshopper, was Goatness." OMG you are just now watching this?!?! Ok, next is "little wing" at el Mocambo then the next is "life without you." at Capitol Theatre. DUDE. Never take your eyes off this Phenom.
Best Texas Musicians * Best Musicians Ever, including all the badasses that came out of Texas 👍👍… SRV was a blessed individual, def one of few that were one with his instrument.. so effortless but you could tell was nothing but passion and love, it literally looked like it was taking all his energy from him as he played and he gave it all every time 👍🔥
I honestly have never seen anybody be "one" with their instrument like SRV. It's like his conscious mind is just sitting back and watching the guitar and his body take over and drive for ten minutes. Look at about 2:19 when it looks like he's moving up to sing...it's like the guitar literally yanked him back from the mic at the last second and said "I'M NOT DONE YET!" and we get another fifty seconds of total perfection. This is one of his greatest performances of one of his best songs...and he was probably high out of his mind while doing it. He didn't get clean and sober until later on.
You have to understand he started learning when he was real young . And he was just so damned good at playing his instrument. He was the master . I sometimes wish him and Jimi could have played together .
So crazy I just watched this for the first time ever too just a couple days ago. Made me rediscover my childhood love for playing guitar again and am so inspired. You don't suck you just started!
SRV played straight from the soul. The human brain can't do that (that's why after 2 years I'm not as good as you). His guitar was just an extension of his soul.
When an instrument becomes an extension on the person playing it, it speaks through them. Stevie knew how to make them talk. Keep practicing. The mountain is hard but the more you practice, the more the mountain you climb. Always strive to be better and you will.
100% fact and truth ! Put in the time and make no excuses to not learn, practice to improve. It takes time to get there... but it's worth everyday you give it. It can't be taken from you and you can play for the rest of your life if physically able. You can learn sections and phrasing from greats like SRV and develop your own style that sounds like "you". I loved this reaction video as it was spot on for most everyone that plays guitar... he is uniquely gifted.
NOBODY can play like he did. I’m so glad you did a reaction to him, AND this song. Musicianship right? Glad you appreciate it. I mean, it’s not my favorite genre to listen to, but I’ll listen because of how good he plays…simply amazing.
I don't think he even played the guitar at this stage, he felt something and it came out through his fingers without thought. I always liked his performance with Johnny Copeland covering Tin Pan Alley. It is definitely worth a listen.
Sorry, that was JImi Hendrix in London, and Clapton was visibly shaken after watching Hendrix play for the first time. Pete Townsend of The Who, said to Eric Clapton, this guy is going to put us all out of business. Stevie Ray Vaughn was only about 9 yrs old when that happened, and it is a Fact it was Jimi Hendrix, that Clapton freaked out about. Tell the truth!
@@827dusty Clapton commented though, in SRV's biography, that he(Clapton) was struggling on a kind of basic(?) guitar at one of his concert warmups or rehearsals, and SRV picked up the same guitar and just made the guitar cry. He was definitely blown away by SRV playing the first time he heard him!
@@827dusty Clapton has stated several times that he was intimidated by Stevie Ray. He felt that way the first time he saw him live. Right up to the last 2 nights of Stevie's life. Both of those shows, Clapton watched Stevie for 20 or 30 minutes then had to stop. He said if he'd watched Stevie's full set he wouldn't have been able to join him for the encore/jam they did at the end. So the truth is Clapton felt that way about both Hendrix & SRV. And it's admirable that he's been so open about it. High praise for both, coming from him.
Stevie always said "Don't worry about playing like someone else. Play the way you play and put your heart into it" Stevie is the G.O.A.T. Don't give up playing man because Stevie was a beginner at one time. You can do it.
OK, before you beat yourself up too much, be advised that Stevie picked up his first guitar at 7 years of age. Fell in love with the guitar and never stopped playing. You can see why he was so dang good. He. Loved. Guitar. He. LIVED. For. Guitar. Some guitarists play to live while Stevie lived to play. More important, Stevie played that big, beautiful soul of his.
I'll tell ya, Stevie Ray Vaughn is is a legend! I grew up listening to him. He is a guitar god! No one will ever best him. He is the best. A legend that was taken too soon. RIP Stevie Ray Vaughn!
Look at him, the only time he opens his eyes is when he sings. He is playing from his soul. I’ve seen him at least 10 times live, in Dallas and Austin. He was amazing
Try life without you live by him !! Don’t ever stop playing the guitar brother I play the drums and it’s self taught and am fixing to teach myself the banjo
I was fortunate enough that I got to see Stevie live about a year before his tragic end. He was and is so amazing that I wanted to give up on playing, but then realized that if I worked at it, I could be that good too.
Dude keep playing that guitar, yes Stevie is on another level. I've been playing for 24 years and I've accepted that I'll never play like him. But I also don't play blues, I've dabbled into trying to learn a few of his songs but I'm perfectly happy just listening. Keep playing that guitar and learn and play whatever calls to you, you'll find your groove.
There is an amazing video with Stevie Ray Vaughn and Albert King from 1983. Stevie is like a school child and Albert is the teacher. A beautiful moment and what some call a passing of the torch to Stevie from Albert. It's about an hour and a half long. Most of the songs they played have their own video that you could review. Stevie purposefully takes a back seat and let's Alberts brilliance shine through.
Check out the live version of 'life without you' it's his most emotional track with a great message. And for some more nastiness 'Voodoo Child'/ Stevie simply has no comparisons. He is the GOAT.
If it helps, even Clapton said he felt like hangin' it up after seeing Stevie Ray Vaughan play....more than once actually....(all those interviews are out there in internetz-land for viewing if you need to hear it for yourself.)
Once Stevie went behind the back Alex had that look of "why should I bother learning the guitar, I'll never come close to that." But don't give up Alex.
When Stevie finished a set all of his guitars needed cigarettes. He was touring with Eric Clapton, and Eric once said that he watched him for a few minutes and had to leave so that he would still want to get up and play a set the next night. "Ok Mrs. Vaughn your son was born, now we just need to deliver the guitar" - his mom's OBGYN probably
"That's some shit you'd see if guitar playing was an Olympic sport!" Lol. Yes indeed!! Check out Jeff Healey "As The Years Go Passing By". He should always be in the conversation with SRV and Hendrix in my opinion as best ever. Plus he does it blind.
Oh jeez... I had to come back again for this . I love your reactions to this, Stevie is felt as much as heard and I love anyone showing the respect. Thank you~~ RIP Stevie~~chest thumper ❤️
I'm a big SRV fan and was blessed to have seen him perform live back in the early-mid 80's. There will NEVER be another SRV! With that said, I am also a big Gary Moore fan. If you want to see another masterful performance, PLEASE review GARY MOORE - Messiah Will Come Again Live
I passed on an opportunity to see him live at the Alpine Music Theater the concert he and others gave on the night he died.... It is one of my regrets 😔. R. I. P. Stevie Ray....you were taken from us way too soon. I thought you were close to tears on a couple of occasions during this....me too. SRV was an 'open channel which music FLOWED through'.....just incredible. I heard someone refer to his voice as being 'honey poured over gravel'.... Another reactor said that he had two voices... his actual voice and his guitar. Stevie Ray was definitely on a whole other level. Passionate, he FELT the music and expressed it so spot on! Appreciate your reaction! 👍✌️
I believe that Stevie Ray's vocals are there just in case you think that his guitar playing alone doesn't have enough soul. Truly one of a kind and as real as a human being can get. SRV was forever true to himself and all of his countless fans. BTW, we all sound exactly like SRV...when lip syncing with air guitar in hand!
It has been said that "when guitars sleep, they dream that Stevie is playing them." There will NEVER be another like him. RIP SRV
That’s a great quote, I’m going to steal it for when someone asks me about SRV, brilliant!
OH Man,I Love that!!!!!WILL USE IT,
TOO
Have always loved SRV but Joe Bonamassa is a close second. With Beth Hart, he’s in another sphere…..
No. Guitars have nightmares of Stevie. They know they would get beaten
@@seanx40 OK you are right!! After all his guitar looks like it was passed down from Rory Gallagher
It was literally UNFAIR how much talent was wrapped up into one person. It was even MORE unfair how quickly he was taken away from this world.
It’s sad that the saying “the brightest stars burn out the quickest” is true
Even MORE unfair that he FINALLY got clean & sober. Such a sad thing.
Many things are unjust and unfair.
Just enjoy an appreciate them.
I think it’s heartbreaking but at least he was happy and in a good place being sober.

Exactly!
Well stated!!
Alex: Do you prefer his voice or guitar playing?
Everyone : Yes
The concept of what he's doing is so simple... the execution is nearly effing impossible. SRV is the Master.
His cover of Voodoo Child is about as close to perfection as a song can be.
I don't know whose version I prefer, his or Jimi's. I mean they are bad ass versions of the song.
There is also a video of him playing Voodoo Child behind his back while he breaks 2 strings doing it.
ua-cam.com/video/pe3G7p1Z-xU/v-deo.html
I think his version is better than Jimi’s.
Little Wing #2.
its even better than hendrix
@@gholwiih Guess I mis-remebered interview with his tech Rene. Thanks for correction.
Incredibly large, powerful hands possessed by a very small man. Certainly a very special gift from heaven. God brought him home so he could enjoy the best tunes first hand. SRV is rocking the Angel Band!
Ya beat me to the thumb trick. He got that from Jimi Hendrix. Many guitar players adopted that but none could make it sing like SRV.
Youve just witnessed the BEST blues guitar performance ever recorded, I saw him live twice and it was just as good, Stevie is a bonafide Guitar LEGEND - even Eric Clapton said as much.
The fact that this man bent 13s to the stratosphere for this sound and was rumored to have to super glue the pads of his fingers cause his strings were so thick is forever incredible to me
Stevie Ray was a natural, guitarists like him come along once in a lifetime. You don't just listen to his music, you actually feel it.
As mere mortals, we’re not worthy of the greatness that was SRV. He made it look so effortless.
He really did man. He was my inspiration to play guitar my dad showed me his music when I was 16 and it’s all history from there
So effortless but still like it was just draining him every note.. he put his all into every note, just pure passion and love of the music
Please react to either the bands the sword to pentagram
SRV is a religious experience. I remember where I was when I heard he died. It’s like remembering where you were on 9/11.
Hendrix was the doing this back in 1966 people.
The Greatest Guitarist To Ever Walk This Planet..R.I.P. Stevie..Thanks For All You Gave Us..Gone But Definitely Not Forgotten. 🙏 ❤
The greatest ever...

I believe So also'
Don’t give up, Alex!
There's reports and supposed quotes he said that his older brother was playing guitar, so he thought he would do it too!
yessss ,i learn at 22 to play guitar and today my level is very good ,im 30 , dont stop , just play dude , age is a number.
He ripped a 12-string acoustic on MTV's unplugged too. His hands were insanely strong.
All the soulful intonation in every note. Most people are just happy to play the notes.
"What the fuck is this?!?"
That's the GOAT, son.
And you are watching him make love with his "first wife"
I was doing exactly what you're doing in 1985. I was absolutely obsessed. This is the greatest guitar performance ever performed. I've been playing for 30 plus years and this STILL blows my phukn doors off. Keep practicing. Lots of it, and you might be one of those with that ridiculous level of talent. SRV is a guitar God.
Stevie had such amazing style! Definitely a character✨ love Stevie and anyone who loves Stevie is immediately an elite human to me lol
Don't quit playing guitar. Play from your soul. Stevie was the GOAT, he wasn't human, he sets the bar high but use him as inspiration to get better.
But to GET that great, he played 25 hours a day for almost thirty years
I've watched/listened to 'Live at the El Mocambo' countless times and it never fails to amaze. Just buy the DVD and put it on repeat. RIP SRV.
Kenny Wayne's fantastic. Definitely do yourself a favor and check him out!
Kenny is super! SRV was the Guitar God! Nobody at all as slick as that little fellow. Damn best guitar slinger ever to play. God Bless his soul! They will never be another SRV!!!
Kenny Wayne shepard is awesome. blue on black I really love but he wasn't shit compared to Stevie.
All I was waiting for was to see your reaction when SRV puts it behind his back... PRICELESS!!!
One doesn't listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn, one experiences it.
his playing literally brings grown men to tears 😩
Just a fact music is magic. Being a bass player for 30+ years it's like sometimes you don't play the music, the music plays you.
That’s a fact. I’ve been playing guitar for 30 years myself, and while I don’t consider myself to be more than a mediocre to average player myself, sometimes something will come out of my hands I didn’t know I could do. The music does indeed play you👍
SRV was gone too soon. Glad we have his music. Hits in your soul.
React to Jeff Healey! Lost his sight due to a rare form of eye cancer. He's an amazing Jazz and Blues guitarist and vocalist from Canada! Absolutely amazing!
RIP Jeff.
Him and srv did a song together
@@scottanderson2807 I remember seeing that. It was amazing!
"That's what she said" Michael Scott. Hahahahaha lost it!
And yes, Stevie Ray was at a whole different level, one of the GOATs... RIP.
The thing about Stevie... entirely self taught! Never a lesson, one, in his life! He was a true BLUES MAN! It's who he was!
It is my understanding he did not read music either! So amazing!!!
ua-cam.com/video/qLaVsRagMa8/v-deo.html
Back when I started playing, you had 3 options to learn,
1.) Pay for, and take in person professional lessons, or purchase course/theory studies on cassette and VHS/BETA tapes..
I was under the impression he was a protege of Albert King.
RIP!! WE ALL MISS YOU DEEPLY!!💜
the behind the back solo leading into insane vocals is the biggest guitar flex of all time
Especially considering how thick those mans strings were. He was an absolute unit
You should see him in MTV Unplugged where he plays a 12 string. SRV was one of the best Texas musicians ever
Best Texas Musicians * Best Musicians Ever, including all the badasses that came out of Texas 👍👍… SRV was a blessed individual, def one of few that were one with his instrument.. so effortless but you could tell was nothing but passion and love, it literally looked like it was taking all his energy from him as he played and he gave it all every time 👍🔥
THE best👍🤘❤️
@@sauletto1 Players like SVR are like unicorns. Every once and awhile, they cross our life's path.
Jimi Hendrix may have written Voodoo Child but Stevie Ray owned it.
There will never be another SRV. He was a generational talent that could never be replicated. I wish I could have seen him live.
Don't feel bad he even made Eric Clapton feel like quitting after watching him play. SRV is The G.O.A.T.
Eric who??? Lol
I think Clapton said to someone standing next to him off stage, while watching Stevie play, how am I supposed to follow him?
@@827dusty Clapton commented though, in SRV's biography, that he(Clapton) was struggling on a kind of basic(?) guitar at one of his concert warmups or rehearsals, and SRV picked up the same guitar and just made the guitar cry. He was definitely blown away by SRV playing the first time he heard him!
@@827dusty
Clapton has stated several times that he was intimidated by Stevie Ray.
High praise for both, coming from him.
he was special, the man spoke with his guitar, there are those of us who play guitar and then there is SRV
It's so cool seeing all these younger folks enjoying stevie.im 65 and have enjoyed him since the 70s I'm in Austin
Love this recording. SRV was so amazing.
Stevie always said "Don't worry about playing like someone else. Play the way you play and put your heart into it"
Stevie is the G.O.A.T. Don't give up playing man because Stevie was a beginner at one time. You can do it.
He played his guitar behind his back better than 99% of people will play their guitar on their best day ever.
There are other guitarists out there, but it's a huge but, sadly there was only one SRV! It's been 30years and I'm still waiting for the next one!
Very nice, man! That's solid results for a novice.
Too bad he was playing the bass line, still pretty decent regardless
Agree
There is no easy answer between his voice and guitar skills for me. He is the total package. But let's be real, it's the guitar 🤷♂️ haha
This man put his soul out for everyone to see with his guitar. This man was touched by something divine.
Good advice
Haha just wrote that. 100% agree
Yes life without you live one of my favorite performances by him
Just make sure it's version of "Life Without You" live in Newark, NJ in 1985. The greatest SRV performance ever!
@@bostonwhofan yea that one lol
SRV plays guitar like he's taming a wild animal. And in my humble opinion this performance is top of the heap. It's overwhelming.
I was fortunate enough that I got to see Stevie live about a year before his tragic end. He was and is so amazing that I wanted to give up on playing, but then realized that if I worked at it, I could be that good too.
Does it get any better? Nope. He’s the best. His voice is “honey over gravel.” Beautiful.
I had the pleasure of seeing him live in 1984 and was in the 4th row. It was even more amazing live.
I have that DVD and it's fucking magical!
I do as well...Three CD's + the DVD. It is my holy relic to the great SRV.
Thank the music gods it was recorded, because El Mocambo as a whole is one of the greatest performances of any musician anywhere anytime.
I would add Pantera's Live in Moscow 91' to that list as well. 🤘🤘
I was there ....it's the only memory that I hope never fades.
@@stevelennox8575 you lucky SOB. That's awesome.
Do not let this be a deterent. Stevie would never want that. He was an amazing sweet soul.
So glad to see younger generations truly appreciate this mans talent. Won't be another like him!
To ME he is the goat. SRV was just on a different level. He was so cool
Don't let anyone throw shade at you, Alex. Even yourself. Become like SRV the way SRV did.... by grinding every single day.
You can do it.
Check out the live version of 'life without you' it's his most emotional track with a great message. And for some more nastiness 'Voodoo Child'/ Stevie simply has no comparisons. He is the GOAT.
What he does can't be taught or learned. It's a gift from GOD
If it helps, even Clapton said he felt like hangin' it up after seeing Stevie Ray Vaughan play....more than once actually....(all those interviews are out there in internetz-land for viewing if you need to hear it for yourself.)
Just imagine how many years of practice it took srv to get as good as he was before he passed away
Once Stevie went behind the back Alex had that look of "why should I bother learning the guitar, I'll never come close to that." But don't give up Alex.
"Guitare is a soul, speaking with only six strings."
What's crazy alex is that he can't read music but he goes by feel! It's crazy!! 😎
The clarity, precision, and tone is mind blowing.
Check out EVH’s rhythm tracks! He was a “feel” guy as well.
"When Stevie finished a set all of his guitars needed cigarettes" - lmao, succinct
Stevie Ray Vaughn didn't die, God needed someone to give him guitar lessons.
I'm a big SRV fan and was blessed to have seen him perform live back in the early-mid 80's. There will NEVER be another SRV! With that said, I am also a big Gary Moore fan. If you want to see another masterful performance, PLEASE review GARY MOORE - Messiah Will Come Again Live
i remember seeing you at that show what a night,
I'm with you - consider this an up vote for Gary Moore.
When learning guitar there are no deterrents, only inspirations.
Please react to Layla by Derek and the Dominos (Eric Clapton) and Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson
