Carole King: 'I Never Thought About Gender' | msnbc
She's a national treasure. A lot of singers owe a big chunk of their careers to her.
instablaster.
No she isn't. She's overrated and annoying.
Love listening to her being interviewed. She's so grounded and was the voice of several generations.
Carole King was one of my mother's favorite artists when I was a little boy in the 1970's. Her music was played in our home regularly, and anytime I hear a Carole King song I'm transported back. She's such a talented artist and an intelligent, well-spoken individual. Sure wish I could meet her in person.
Carole is a national treasure. Her music is sublime and she is a warm, kind and caring person as well. This is not about politics or religion. It's about an artist who has influenced generations with her musical gifts. Carole is an artistic genius and she is ours - truly American in every way. I am grateful for the songs, the music, the hours of pleasure listening to that iconic voice that was the voice of a generation. Love her!
There are interviews on UA-cam of Lennon and McCartney from the mid 60's where they specifically state that in the earlier days they saw Goffin and King as a paradigm that they modeled their own songwriting partnership on.Not a bad compliment.
Carole King is a legend no doubt, i was glad i came up in her era i was a 15 year old teenager living in NYC and in 1971 after listening to a song from her Tapestry album played on WABC 77 radio Its too late, i went out to the record shop and brought the Tapestry album and loved it not knowing that that album would become her most famous album of all her albums, her songs took me through my teen years and she is a great writer she wrote songs back in the 60's 70's for a lot of famous singers, what a legend.
This woman is remarkable.
Love her
LiA1825 Ditto.
LiA1825 the best singer in our planet!
You may find that most artists that were writing and performing during the 60s are very real and down to earth. It's not hype, music is life to them, they breath it.....Carole King and Laura Nyro never sold out on their music. We love you Carole...And we miss you Laura Nyro...
She was and still is one of the most beautiful singers in the world, in looks and voice.
My gosh I think she is stunning for her age! What a beauty!
I love this woman so much.
She's beautiful AND she's written some of the greatest pop songs ever. What more could you want?
Her songs have followed me throughout my lifetime, making a person feel she wrote them for you. "Now and Forever" still reminds me of precious moments and in a happy and sad way, bring tears to my eyes, meaning "I am still alive."
Thank you Carole!
...yep she is The Great Carol King....and I love when whe works that piano and the beautiful smiling singing and the beautiful eyes....she is irresistable.
Carole has such a youthful quality to her even if she is in her 70’s. We should all age as well as Carole King.

Tapas try album bring back a lot of good memorys thank you for sharing and my carol king keep doing what she is doing she has touched so many life and happy she has touch mine thank yo u carol for everything you have done
Carole is truly iconic. And I appreciate the way Ronan interviews. More conversational rather than interrogational. Well done.
I love her.. Not her politics necessarily , but if you disagree with the point of view, you can still trust the human to do what is right.
Your song still my favorite up to this day's I'm 63 and all my niece are singing with your songs...(brother brother.)
A genuine star
I am a songwriter now..suddenly found out I could do it..To hear such a beautiful woman, beautiful singer say she was reachin for the sun..well its like I finding gold! Wonderful inspiration.
you are great Carole. Love your music and talents!
She seems like such a wholesome person! God I love her so much. My mother played her all the time, I'm 25 years old but I feel like I've been there too. Seriously she's a major piece of history.
She is beautiful and her music is too. The soundtrack of my childhood and still love hr
truly a prolific singer / songwriter. the Tapestry album is as good as any album ever recorded in the history of albums.
Listening to Carole King I feel rejuvenated. It reminds me of my twenties. Particularly "Tapeestry" Great signer and persona.
Una gran artista...🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🙋♀️🌹🌹🎤🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
Love Carole
I'm reading "Natural Woman" right now. Highly recommend. She's so amazing. I can respect her even when I disagree with her politically.
I love Carole... I disagree with her about "Killary," but I still love Carole.
Love you carol
I don't know how to describe her. We think the same about most things. Always reach for the sun....
i wish more people were like her
Carole just explained the reason as to why I pay for my music! Never use "free" apps.
I really enjoy her music.
I love her so much
Carole King is so cool
She is a legend for sure!!! She still has a youthful voice!!!
Genius. Her and Goffin. Simple as that.
Great singer and song writer cool lady brings back memories it's okay if your Jewish there is alot of great Jewish people and talented Jewish people there a great race I played music in a Jewish country club lounge they were like family to me I'm a Italian fellow but I enjoyed the Jewish people they were very generous also
A true genius.
Beautiful
Legend
She's actually my idol
What a wonderful woman, and a beautiful woman
One of the very few who's in the business for the *music* .
well she is from kings county.
Apart from all the wonderful music [and the not-so-wonderful but predictable and ultimately-who-cares politics], Carole King comes across as such an appealing person in this interview with the son of Old Blue Eyes.
Carole has great lineage, just look at that great head of hair.
I think I just fell in love with this wonderful woman.
Carole comes across as a lot younger than her age. She seems like late 50's.
It’s because her hair is now grey here. Probably because it’s colored
Such a Sweety.
So many ethnic items and gender over sensitivity .... a myriad of good and bad LIKE MANY OF US no matter our skills and feelings ..... seems Carol has been BLESSED with J.T. & the Boys ... and if you have YOUR CREW - a "Friend" - you have an outlet for your talents ! The fact is A JEWISH GIRL can and did have what it takes and can overcome obstacles .... good for her !
That Ronan Farrow is charming. Miss King isn't so bad either!
Carole King Genius.
Who is this interviewer? He's like twelve isn't he? Or is that just me getting old?
He's Mia Farrow's son.
A moron, but he's pretty so he's popular.
She is a Genius but not with politics.
Shayna Maidela
Nobody ever thought about gender til now. It's apparent.
hi
The Lord has blessed the Jewish people to be a gift to all humanity🙏😄❤️
Carol is my favorite...Dont listen to her political view...music
Is Carole King William Lanes' Craig sister?
Why would she be?
I love her but he is so much prettier!
frank sinatra, your son is beautiful
Thanks, Sinatra's son....
I didn't know she's Jewish
Chris Horton Are you kidding me?
@@nightowl5475 😂😂😂😂
Check out that wonderful nose 😉💜
I do not like her politics in any way....far too left, however, I like her!!
Agree with that statement!
Not a prodigy. Just a really good songwriter. Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea are better examples for defining what a prodigy is.
ADELE CANT BE COMPARED TO CAROLE KING
6:00 domestic marital abuse
6:32 Only woman in the room in photographs.
7:10 I was always secure ... many women are not... [blaming women not patriarchy and gender oppression or heterosexism].
In her book she was clear to say that that security did not go into her personal relationships with her husband. She was stated that her parents instilled this confidence in her music perhaps because she had a brother with disabilities and that maybe her father placed his hopes and wishes for his son upon his daughter.
She wasn’t blaming anybody. She was just sharing her personal experiences working with men in her career was positive. She acknowledges it’s has often not positive for others. This was just her personal experience
How to break through "glass ceilings"? Trying to be good at what you do exactly as boys do, maybe? Do you want some examples? Carole King, Aretha Franklin, Myriam Makeba, Nina Simone, Angelique Kidjo, Tina Turner, Esperanza Spalding, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Lucinda Williams, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt. Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, Annie Lennox, Siouxsie (& the Banshees), Tal Wikenfeld, Janis Joplin, Koko Taylor, Bessie Smith, Gloria Gaynor, ... All this victimhood mindset & whining (I'm talking about the assumptions made by people like this interviewer) makes me sick.
is she a lipper?
I don’t think anyone knows what that is, so what’s the point in asking?
I like her so much as a person and performer but she's very off base about judging the political figures she mentioned as great. They're both criminals. History will show this.
Trump 2020 .
The interviewer is.....wow, just awful.
