I love your work so much ! My favorite type of shoot is outside, I love shooting in the nature, in the garden, literally anywhere. There are just so many things to work with and I guess I find this in your work, which is awesome. Every time I watch one of your video, I get inspired and want to shoot even more. Love from France ! x
I’ve been geeking out on the various reviewers for this lens, but this one made by you is what sold me 100% on wanting to get this lens. And this was the only one that I felt compelled to comment on. Wonderful work Julia! And yes, a perfect model too.
Julia, take full-length photos at F/1.2 It's interesting to see how it blurs the background on full-length portraits. And it is very interesting to compare it with the Sony Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 lens
Yess I love full length portraits on the 50 and 85, you can get some really nice separation! And yess I'm working on the comparison video - I will upload it soon
I have watched many videos about this lens so far. Your video is breathtaking and amazing. Your evaluation of this lens is dreamy. So I decided to buy it. Yes, it is true.
@@itsboyshetty6039 i think it would be addictive brother... I'm already in love with 135 gm. I didn't got a 50mm till now just because i was waiting for one GM from Sony.. i hadn't expected it to be 1.2... i am just wowwed... in fact i was thinking of trying cannon because they had 1.2 in their rf lineup as well... bt now I'm glad that I'm a Sony guy 🙃
When Sony announced that the 35mm would be delayed I was so devastated. But now I’m not sure which to get. I’d love to see a shootout between the two 🙌🏼
Thank you, I hope it warms up for you soon so you can go out and shoot! We were so lucky with this shoot here, it's been rain on the forecast for 2 weeks and this was the only sunny day lol
You are pulling me to Sony! Hahaha I seriously love your work and wow! Sony is so cool! I have been using canon and nothing against Canon but wow! This camera and the lens is so amazing and so beautiful!
Ahh thank you! Both brands are really good, I personally prefer the wider lens choice for Sony mirrorless at the moment, especially with 3rd party brands like Tamron and Samyang. There’s not a long for RF Canon mount at the moment, but I think eventually there will be 😊
That golden hour was on point! My favorite shot was the one at 10:30. But honestly all the shots were beautiful 😍. Great work, as always ✨. Also the a7c I so freakin cute!
Wow! I have not read the photon news in recent days and did not know that Sony presented this lens!)) This is definitely a good lens, but looking at your shots at open aperture, I am once again convinced that the most artistic one is the Canon EF 50 f/1.2)) It has its flaws, but in terms of drawing and volume it is unbeatable)
It's insane how I'm just about to get myself a new 50 and boom here you are with 50mm 1.2 GM! :) Was thinking about getting the Sony 50mm 1.4 ZA first but think I will go for this one! Can't wait for your comparison video as well ^^
Gr8 editing. Nice pip insert. Pls also show us how using a reflector on those backlit shots to put some more light on the models face, curious to see if it will improve the looks.
Awesome.. Love the review, I can’t wait to try the 50mm 1.2 beast. I love the color, character and style of your videos.. awesome job ...😃👍🏾 If you don’t mind me asking? What microphone are you using... Your Voice in all the videos sound good !!!
Great video Julia, love this lens review and the 35 1.4 GM as well. I have a question which I am sure you have had many times. What is the thing on the bottom of your cameras, is it a SSD or a voice recorder or a battery pack, I am intrigued? It seems to have lens rails on it too, love to know! And thanks for making watching portrait work such a pleasure, also really liked the cinetone A7SIII video capture at the end as well!
Six notifications from channels I sub to for the new Sony 50mm f1.2 and I watched this one first because of how Julia shoots. Plenty of backlighting and flares from a portrait shooter who likes it wider than standard portrait focal lengths. The flaring is nice as is the OOF areas. The lack if CA is a nice bonus. I imagine Julia will get this lens and the 35mm f1.4. But if she could only have one, which would she prefer? 🤔
incredible photography. I think in some of the shots where she's not interacting with the environment (like at 2:30), it would have looked better with a deeper depth of field. The extreme shallowness makes her look detached from the environment. Still an absolutely gorgeous shot and I love that lens flare. Idk what are other people's opinions on the ideal depth of field?
Back in the analog days from the 1970´s to the 1990/2000´s a 50mm was just a "cheap" kit lens that almost everyone got together with the camera, but only a very few ever used a 50mm, I think (and many others) that lenses from 45mm and every lens shorter plus every lenses from 55mm and longer are the best choice ! I like the Sony Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8 because it is so light and compact, I want it in a new and better optical version (an aperture ring will be very nice). Even better will a 60mm 2.0 be !
So many good images to choose - I think the lens flare images were my favorites. I have the ZA 50 and thankfully have no reason to get the GM for the type of images I capture. The only thing I miss on the ZA is the button. I'm waiting to see what Sony does with the 85 GM. The ZA 35, ZA 50 and 85 GM are the lenses that cannot be used at 30 fps on the A1 - makes me wonder if the lenses getting released this year are to handle the A1.
Are you shooting wireless video of your viewfinder in this video? I’d love to see an updated video on how you capture your footage for these videos. Props to Dan. I currently have my Sony set up with an Atomos Ninja Inferno, out to a Cam Link 4K to MacBook Pro with OBS then out to a 42” 4K TV for client monitoring. It’s all wired and the Atomos is just way too big to have on the camera cage. I’d love to figure out a way to do it wirelessly. I saw a wireless setup on the new GFX video and that reminded me to ask. Thanks for all the great vids! Tim
Hi Julia! Excellent review again! Was your model not to smile at all while being photographed? She only smiled when you were prepairing her to the next pose, or location. Anyways, you sold me the lens.
Thanks for the detailed review! I definitely gonna buy it!! BTW, what are those cables on the left of ur a7iii? Are those some kind of alternative for the better memory?
Thanks for this video sharing the performance of the lens. Nice pics. Can I ask which is the video transmitter you attach under the bottom of your camera? Can you recommend the setting?
How does it balance with A7C? Do you prefer this lens or 85mm GM for portrait? How did you expose the meter for backlight shoot? Most of my backlight shoot would make face of subject overly underexposed or black. Thanks before. Great video like always

Great analysis of the 50GM! If you don't mind me asking, what's the device connected via cable, underneath the cameras?

How how how are you getting that video feed from your Sony? A wireless video transmitter? Also, great video! Glad Sony joined the 1.2 gang

I think it’s getting recorded to a ssd drive under the camera?
