I got the FP10. What kept me from getting the FP30 was the difference in weight, size, and of course $$. My idea was to have a basic practice instrument at home (with headphones) for day - to - day practice and learning new pieces, and then play, perform and do recordings on a real Grand Piano I have regular access to... better said, HAD, until COVID19 shut the place down. Now I wish I'd gotten the FP30 which has on-board feature that allows recording to a memory stick, and 2 line outputs (which would allow me to record directly to the aux of a recorder while still using headphones or a small monitor speaker). Not that I'm unhappy with the FP10! It fits the bill pefectly for the originally intended purpose, but if I had to make the choice again I'd go for the FP30 because of the additional features I mentioned, and I want to share this point of view here.
Hi Andres, I've just ordered one FP10 two days ago and as I wait for it to come I've been watching videos about it and I'm noticing that there's a bunch of people out there having that problem with the keys, saying that they make that clunk sound and is annoying. I never played a DP so I can't tell if that would annoy me a lot but knowing myself I honestly think it will. What's your thoughts on this issue? Thanks
@@luispinheirodosmontes7219 Hi Luis. I have my FP10 since November 2019. I have put it to use average 2 hours / day since then, in professional grade classical music practice sessions, which are hard for any instrument. Only recently the keys are starting to clatter a little bit, which doesn't wonder me: Roland says specifically that this is an entry level e-piano, implicit: Not a professional, heavy duty grade one. The *clunking* sound some complain about is not constant. @Camila Gatica yes. You need to connect Roland fp10 to external speakers. The inbuilt speakers are pretty good for an average single room. Nit great for large spaces
@@jeremiahdaniel6339 Probably not much difference, as I did try out an FP-10 and an FP-30 in person, and they both felt similar. I think the FP-30 might have been slightly better in the feel, but it could just be me.
When you connect to the piano partner 2 do the number of sounds become equal or does the fp30 gain sounds that the fp10 doesnt? I've tried asking roland but they wont give me a clear answer.
This is a fantastic review, but you could mention that FP-30 does not support piano designer app, which is a critical flaw.. I am enjoying your reviews! Keep it up :)

Best Keyboard Reviews I've found on UA-cam - Thank you!! Do you guys carry the Casio PX-S1000 and PX-S3000? They look sweet and I would love to see you weigh in on them!
Hi guys, wanted to express some gratitude for the tremendous help, even tho you're on the other side of the world from me, bc I finally got a piano today! (..tho there's been a lil' mix-up I'm not sure what to feel about that I want to hear your thoughts, if I may, please?) I've been in the shopping research haze for the past two months, went from looking for a decent keyboard to play my fav Sondheim tunes to wanting a full sized piano bc I got interested in classics down the road, and stumbled upon this channel somewhere around that change of objective. I gotta say this is a very nice space and I ended up falling in love with Stu with his playing, presentation and vast knowledge; that's delivered full of personality, enthusiasm, and compassion. This is embarrassing, but if I have to confess I'm currently having the biggest sort of celebrity crush on Stu, to the point I'm looking up his stuff here and on other platform, got myself in a "I could listen to him talk/play for hours" kind of situation haha. I'm binging many of this channel's videos, even ones unrelated to my purpose, it's been a fun and educating ride to a world I've always thought could never comprehend for a decade. I was surprised that my country have a piano industry when I watched your 'Pianos of The World' series. Of course, my appreciation also goes beyond Stu to the rest of the team for the high-quality and engaging content you guys put out, as well as the nice interactions in the community. (Can I also just say what a nice community this is? Like 99% of the time the comments here had been a joy to read; there are times I stumbled upon a channel where the comments just make me want to step out asap.) So, I've been on-off interested in playing an instrument since grade school, tried guitar a few times but it never really clicked in my brain? Pianos are actually one I want to play but I never expressed this to my parents bc I had an idea how expensive it was where I'm from, both the intrument and the lesson. Now, my family still isn't exactly supportive and discouraged me (even a bit against music in general), but I'm at a point where I can personally afford a digital piano and not be a burden, and tldr I fell in love with Roland FP10 (tho I was kinda on an agonizing FP10 vs P45 for awhile there) and decided to buy a used one for a good deal. The thing is, I've asked the right questions and gotten good answer except one thing I didn't consider which is... the seller apparently mistook the piano he owned as FP10 and listed as such, while it's actually FP30 which I just found out when it arrived at home a few hours ago. Now I tested almost everything and it works great (except the Bluetooth, which I'm still not sure about, and the USB Midi bc I don't have the cable on hand), but I'm just not sure how to feel? Is this a fortunate/unfortunate thing? I'm a little bit disappointed bc it's not the FP10 I fell in love with, but objectively is this a lucky mistake kind of thing, or one I should be upset about? The other thing, I checked the box, and it's listed as the model "FP 30 BK L" (the list was the usual BK, WH, then BK L, WH L) do you have an idea what's the L stands for? I have yet to find anything on it, and I'm a little worried thinking it might have to do with Bluetooth capability. I really want to be happy with my first piano, even might be my only piano (at least for a long while), but currently I'm just... anxious. Would appreciate to hear your thoughts! Thanks and have a nice day Stu, Brent, and the rest of the team! :)
Hi! Brent from Merriam Music here! Firstly, thank you so much for your incredibly kind words and for supporting our channel! To say that we appreciate it would be a massive understatement. Also, I will be happy to share your kind words and feedback to Stu on your behalf. :) I am glad to hear that you've taken the plunge into studying music and the piano. Playing piano is incredibly rewarding and there are nothing but benefits that come along with it. The Roland FP10 is a wonderful instrument. When shopping for a starting digital piano, I (like Stu) prioritize action as this will pay dividends in the long run in terms of technical development. As for the mixup with the piano, while the FP30 is not a current model, it is a superior instrument to the FP10 in virtually every category. While they possess the same action (PHA4), the FP30 has a superior speaker system, more built-in features, and triple pedal support. So, from my stand point, I think this could be a happy and beneficial mistake in the long run! Thanks again and enjoy your new piano! :)
Was looking to buy fp-10, and as you might have guessed; they are out of stock everywhere. While searching, luckily got a brand new fp-30 with just CAD 120 more, as they are being discounted while the new fp-30x hit the store. Perfect time to get the fp-30.
Hi there, what about that clanking noise on the key action? How are you experiencing that? In this video the guy talks about it and you can hear to that noise. I've just ordered the FP10 but I'm getting cold feet about it because I know that clank will drive me nuts. Could you give any thoughts about that? Thanks🙌
Do these have any additional outputs for hooking up an ipad or all of that is done through the bluetooth? Is is compatible with all of the standard learning apps ?
Key difference you mentioned is on the Pedal: single sustain Fp10 vs 3way compatibility Fp30 - can anyone tell a beginner why this would be important to learning?
I'm absolutely clueless about epiano stuff but it seems like being the dynamic in sustain Single sustain: press the pedal and you get the same sustain everytime 3way: the more you press, the more sustain, on 3 levels But again - I don't really know
There is a new fp30. The fp-30x. If people are like me thinking of buying one. I highly suggest waiting. I have not seen a fp-10x but I suppose there will be. But when is the question... Not so after reviewing rolands website stating their new fpx lineup contains the regular fp-10.
Great review, thank you. I saw somewhere that on the FP30, if you hold down some keys and play other keys, it will, like on acoustic piano, "activate" the held down keys from the harmonics. I was a demo of that. Does the FP10 do the same or is this part of the chips/programming differences between the 2 models?
Thanks so much! We're glad you enjoyed it! The Roland FP30X model does in fact have a "string resonance", which simulates the sympathetic vibrations of strings adjacent to the played string like on an actual piano. The FP10 has this feature as well, but it is always on and not adjustable. Overall, the FP10 and FP30X both use the same core SuperNATURAL sound engine, but there are some differences between the two when you compare their spec sheets, such as the max polyphony.
Can I use the FP-10 as a MIDI controller to use many other virtual instruments (from other sotware brands) than the Roland Partner Piano 2 included with it ?
Yup - you certainly can! Any MIDI compatible digital piano can be used as a MIDI controller via either Bluetooth MIDI, MIDI outputs, or USB outputs (depending on which connectivity options are available on a specific model). :)
Merriam Music one question: Yamaha p45 or Roland fp10 I‘m a beginner and i have no idea which one to buy. people say that roland fp10 sounds better than yamaha but they also say that it has clicking keys. can you help me? i’ll buy one of them today..
Hi! Brent from Merriam Music here! Without having all of the context behind your decision making process, my lean would in favour of the Roland FP10. For me, it really comes down to the quality of the action. It is a wonderful touch that I personally find to be superior to that of the P45. Thanks and hope this helps! :)
There is a difference due to the speaker system. The FP30X has a more powerful and higher-fidelity sound system. Beyond that, the FP30X also offers triple pedal support, which may be an appealing feature. :)
I switched from yamaha clavinova to fp10, and for me the sound of fp10 is really awful without speakers. The key touch and the mechanism is something more than legit for the price. Additionally, SuperNatural algorithm has some very nice piano sounds. If I knew about the sound from the speakers, I would have bought fp30 or CASIO Privia, but unfortunately they told me that fp10 is the same instrument as fp30, but with less polyphony and sounds. I am not sure if this is true. I remember myself playing on fp30 and I remember a more legit sound. The speakers of fp10 are very moderate and it is a real problem for somebody who doesn't like them because he has to buy external speakers and it doesn't seem to support all the kinds of speakers or headphones.
I'm not a piano player, however i'm buying this as a gift for someone, can you elaborate on the speaker sounds? is it fp10's own speakers you're talking about? and is it because it sounds unnatural or ? if you find a solution to that problem i'd appreciate any info :)
@@rawanabd6534I’m currently deciding between these 2, the 30 has speakers twice the size of the 10 and so will therefore practically eliminate any worries there for you
When having the FP30 replaying what you've recorded, does it output midi signals just like when you're playing on it normally, so that you can recorde those on in a DAW if desired? Pretty sure the answer is yes, but I'd like to have that confirmed. Also, can you record and store multiple recordings, and if so how many?
If GPT4 is correct, the recording is actually audio and not midi, so playback will NOT output midi in that case. That's disappointing. I want to record the ideas I might get during a session, and then just transfer it to the DAW later. Instead of just using the recording feature to remember the ideas and having to play them live - which won't work anyway since it only records a single audio, if GP4 is correct. There should have been a midi recording feature.
Hi there! My understanding is that, even when playing back a recorded file from onboard the piano, it would still be spitting out MIDI data. With that said, if you record the track to a USB stick, I believe it will only be an audio file without any MIDI data.
Hi Stu thank you very much excellent video but I would want to ask you the next question: I have bought the Roland FP30 a pair of months ago but I have notated that the sound of the speakers is more opaque from the side of the piano player and brighter towards the hearer, is it normal? or it would be a possible factory damage. Thank you very much for your answer and help (or if somebody else who has the same piano and read this could help me I would thank you greatly)
You can change the sounds present on the Instrument directly on it. This is done by pressing & holding the 'Function' button + Key (labelled with a tone name on top of it)
I have an fp30, love it. Although, it's not compatible with Piano Designer. Not sure how you would connect a triple pedal either, it only has one pedal jack input.
According to this webpage yes, www.pianodreamers.com/roland-fp10-review/ , it says literally: "However, what I found is that if you access the FP-10 via the Roland Piano Partner 2 app, you can actually access all the sounds from the FP-30, which is pretty cool."
Is this sound generated by line out through remote speakers? I like the FP 10 but the Korg D1 beckons because I'd need an external amp and speakers for that, and I might need these elements on the FP 10 if that's what you're using for this review..
How did you record it? I'm using USB - B, my laptop acknowledges it, but Audacity still recording the laptop microphone and Reaper says that the device (roland fp10) couldn't be opened
So... can you plug the FP-10 Directly into and piano amplifier with one cord? I have a Fender KXR 60 ( Sorry if you covered this, I am new to this stuff and don't understand a lot yet )
@@MerriamPianos Thank you so much for replying to my question 😁 I am grateful for your time, I know its a lot of work and time to keep up with social media, So thank you. I found a FP10 "new in box" with headphones bench and stand for $450 but I was not sure if I could use it with my amp, but now I know, Thank you again :)
Your reviews are so fantastic! The two audio ports and the three pedals are really the deciding factor. I could not figure that out for sure without your review. I agree with what you said about the DP-10 pedal. I had tried an M-audio pedal for a couple of years, but it squeeked, moved, and did not have the half-pedaling option. I finally decided to get the DP-10, which costs almost $50 but I found it to be well worth it. The design of the bottom rubber, to address the moving, etc. is important for piano players. Some reviews say that the FP10 will add 20 additional sounds with the Piano Partner 2 app, making it the same as the FP30 in that regard. Are the added sounds the same quality as the FP30? And does the app give additional sounds to the FP30 on top of the 35?
Stu, I purchased the fp30, the top, hi g - hi c keys just clunk, no ring at all, so I tried all the sensitivity settings, same. While considering exchanging it another problem reared it’s ugly head. The app stopped working. Two days of research online and in the manual wit it only intermittently working then nothing. I’m hopeful this was just defective. I didn’t purchase it from Meriam but your videos are the best and you seem pretty informed, just thought you may have some input. I’m going to exchange it. I would like your thoughts especially regarding the dead or loud clunky hi keys. Thanks again.
Hi! Brent from Merriam Music here! While I am familiar with the NUX NPK10 model, I have not personally played one. With that said, I can attest to the Roland FP10 being a wonderful piano with a fantastic tone and touch. In my opinion, it presents one of the best cost-to-value ratios on the market right now. :)
In a recent UA-cam video (with a more negative bias), the FP30 was reported as being very tall. Stu, when you sit at the keyboard, you look like you're sitting at a good height relative to keyboard. How are you achieving this? I thought X-stands were for standing gigs. How do you keep the correct height? How does Roland recommend keeping correct height? As I shop, Roland's custom stand doesn't show dimensions and searching the internet for this keyboard height + stand is noticeably missing.
Yes, you can record through the app. And can access to more voices or effects through the app.... and the 2 extra pedals of fp30 are not very common to use. .. 🤷🏻♂️
Yesterday I had the opportunity to try the Roland FP30X and... It sounds good, and most importantly for me, the key structure and key action are very good, but... I was shocked when I accidentally pressed the plastic part directly above the keys. The plastic has bent a lot!!! I pressed it a little harder and the keys fell off too! For a €650 instrument, the body quality is terrible! Plastic keyboards for 100 euros are more solid...
Hi there! The FP30X's PHA4 action certainly provides quite the rewarding touch. I am little confused as to what you are referring to. I tried pressing the plastic enclosure above the keys as hard as I could and nothing bent nor did the keys fall off. The enclosure seems pretty durable and robust from my perspective.
@@MerriamPianos I understand your confusion and the shop clerk was also confused. Maybe Roland uses cheap components for the Eastern European market. I don't know. But I'm definitely giving up Roland and buying a Korg D1.
I was going to get the recital pro but there are no good stands for it they are all just basic janky x stands. I might go for a Williams allegro 3 but the review were bad so I think I’m going for a yahmaha p71 unless the Williams feels good when I try it at guitar center
Great video, thanks a lot! I bought an FP-30 for Christmas, and am just getting started with the basics. I'm curious about the Piano Designer app you mention. On the AppStore for iOS the description doesn't list the FP-30 or the FP-10 as compatible models (it does include the FP-90, FP-80 and FP-60 models), but on your video we can see you using it with the FP-10. Is it just a problem with their description, or something actually changed that stopped support for the FP-10 and FP30s? Thanks in advance.
Edwin, I tried the Piano Designer app today in the store. Although it does not list the FP10 in their "compatible models" list, the FP10 connected without any problem. It is a fantastic app to tweak all kinds of parameters, and the acoustic presets are great. You should definitely try it out with your FP30.
No Sir, the Roland Piano Designer app will not work with the FP-30 as I have the FP-30; I use the Roland Piano Partner 2 app to handle all on board controls, voicings, settings, volumes, rhythm track selections, etc... Piano Designer will not work with the FP-30; I believe it will work with the FP-90 if you are willing and able to spend $2000 for that beautiful Roland model.
Hi Alex, We took 3.5m Stereo cable into a sound interface, and then monitored with a quiet amplifier in the corner of the room (so my mic wouldn't pick it up).
I bought an FP-10 and I’m very happy with it. However I recently saw my mate’s FP-30 and there is one difference worth flagging. The position of the headphone jack on the FP-10 is at the back of the unit more or less behind middle C. It’s very inconvenient and fiddly. It’s really the only disappointment I have with the FP-10. By contrast the headphone jack position on the FP-30 is much more sensible; on the front on the left hand side.
@kingwardytube I see.. but the thing is, I want to play just for my self, not before an audience or anything so I need the speakers to fulfill at least that. If you're like me and still see that the speakers aren't good enough, I will pick another keyboard. Sooo what do you think?
I wonder if the 30 has the ability to turn off / down the speakers while outputting exclusively to the headphone ports. For noise sensitive apartment situations.
Thank you for the suggestions! We do our best to tackle as many relevant comparisons as possible and will certainly add those suggestions to our list of potential comparisons for future videos. :)
I bought FP30 for my daughter. And I bought NUX NPK-10 for myself. It seems to me that NUX sounds and feels better than FP-30, it has 189 polyphony, not as many sounds as FP-30. Grand piano and organs sound seriously better on NUX. The design and functions are so similar that it feels like they are made by the same factory. Even the functions are assigned to the same keys. I'm going to try if Roland apps you mentioned would work with NUX. That would be cool Nice review!
@@viggo100 the keys are identical, only Roland FP-30X has more sounds, which are assigned to Bb0-G#1 on NUX, and Roland Bb0-C3 or beyond. NUX Chip: Dream 5708 DSP with 189 polyphony, 12 instruments FP-30X Chip: SuperNATURAL with 256 polyphony, 54 instruments The buttons are identical, but Roland placed them vertically, and NUX horizontally. the rest of the mold is identical, including the dimensions. The speakers are identical 2x10.5W (sound weak, you need to practice with the headphones, then the sound is pristine on both, I prefer NUX sound, no bias here as I own both) BTW I have very good hearing, I measured my ears up to over 20kHz while my friends usually stop hearing sound above 15.5kHz. I use Philips Fidelio X1 headphones to practice and to test the sound. On Roland FP-30X, when you hold the piano keys more than 75% way down, you can hear some high frequency buzz which doesn't fade out, as long as you keep the piano key down. The volume of that buzz is very minimum and you can hardly hear it, but i can, my friends said they can't hear anything. When I did the same test on NUX, the sound is perfectly clean, no matter what velocity, percentage of the piano key down, holding, releasing, pulsing, there is no buzz, except the desired note sound. On Roland, the high frequency buzz is on EVERY key held at 75% down. It sounds like some end of the frequency gate, which they set maybe to 15kHz and assumed nobody would hear it anyway. I can and it irritates me to the extent I don;t want to play on Roland at all. Especially when you play pianissimo and that buzz level is comparable to the note sound. It will freak you out, and to silence the buzz, you will be hitting the piano keys harder, to achieve better "signal to noise" ratio.
I absolutely agree with you. I had also tried experiencing sounds of both Roland and Nux side by side in a musical store. The quality of Nux was way much better & more realistic than roland. Nux was also ahead in terms of speaker quality. Only doubt i have is about the durability of Nux Piano. Roland is a well established brand while Nux is relatively new. Also does keys of Nux start making any clicking sound after some time of usage?
@@happylearning192 I've been using Nux piano for few months now and I sometimes like to go crazy forte and play rock boogie chords repeatedly. So far I have no issues with the keys. They seem as solid as houses. The hammer weighted action is also very realistic and feels like a real stand up fortepian. I like the Nux sounds so much that when I record Midi I actually ask Nux piano to play back the Midi recording so that I can capture its own sound rather than a VST virtual instrument. I'm really pleased with the Nux purchase and highly recommend it especially at this price
@@happylearning192 I also managed to setup both Bluetooth audio for the headphones and bluetooth Midi for connecting to my Linux workstation with Reaper, which is fantastic because Midi cable was causing horrible square analog noise overlapping the Focusrite Audio Interface analog signal path. If there is a signal OUT - then it can be recorded (basic Physics)... but you may need to put more effort into understanding the technology's sound quality limitations.
Hi Stu. You say that you can use roland's "Piano Designer" app on the FP10 and FP30. Unfortunately, this does not work for my FP30. According to "Roland", this app only works from the FP60/80/90 and so on. Did you make a mistake?
Although the app does not list the FP10, I had downloaded the app when I went to my music store today. It connected with the FP10 on the shelf without any problem.

Yes. What none of the reviewers here on YT has mentioned is that you can download the REFERENCE MANUAL for free from the Roland website (in PDF format). This explains all the functions you can set on the FP10 WITHOUT having to connect it via bluetooth to a device. You can TRANSPOSE, and also fine-tune the pitch to other instruments if you play ensemble. The REFERENCE manual is complementing the printed OWNERS MANUAL that comes with the keyboard in the box.
Tbh you are a bit all over the place with this comparison review. You began by saying they are basically the same hardware wise and the difference is only software. Then you pointed out the superior hardware and sound features of the fp-30?? Btw the fp-10 DOES have the ability to record and play back your performance, I've done it. All in all this is video looks as if it's just been thrown together quickly without doing thorough research. It would have been much better if you had taken the time to move the camera and show the apps working. The fp-10 and the fp-30 are quite different, having the same keyboard action and similar weight does not make them identical.
Please clear something up for me... On this video - ua-cam.com/video/8MrwHAipNwg/v-deo.html where you compare the Yamaha P45 to the Roland FP10, at around the 12 minute mark you say that the FP10 can use the piano designer app, but not the FP30. Yet on this video you say that the FP30 can use the piano designer app, and has more features available on that app over the FP10. So which is it? Can i use the piano designer app on the Roland FP30 or not? I'm going to buy one of these. I want to buy the FP30, but if i can't use the piano designer features on the FP30 i'll buy the FP10. I'm going to do my own research in the meantime but thought i'd point out your contradiction and allow you to clarify.
Exactly the same question. Now I have to choose one of them. Mostly I think I am going to buy fp30 since fp10 isn't available. Can you please tell me which one did you buy? And have you found an answer for your question?
Hmm thanks I'm deciding between these two now.

It's worth mentioning that you can use all 35 sounds of fp30 on fp10 - using Roland Piano Partner 2.
Does fb10 has a transpose ?
@@musical_. yes, it does.
@@just_ppe thank you
When you connect to the piano partner 2 do the number of sounds become equal or does the fp30 gain sounds that the fp10 doesnt? I've tried asking roland but they wont give me a clear answer.
I can't believe it , are you sure?
While the FP-10 may not have a speaker output jack, you could connect an amplifier and external speakers to the headphone jack.
The best FP10 vs F30 on youtube with demo. Thanks Sir
You're very welcome! Thank you so much for tuning in! :)

(..tho there's been a lil' mix-up I'm not sure what to feel about that I want to hear your thoughts, if I may, please?)
I've been in the shopping research haze for the past two months, went from looking for a decent keyboard to play my fav Sondheim tunes to wanting a full sized piano bc I got interested in classics down the road, and stumbled upon this channel somewhere around that change of objective.
Like 99% of the time the comments here had been a joy to read; there are times I stumbled upon a channel where the comments just make me want to step out asap.)
So, I've been on-off interested in playing an instrument since grade school, tried guitar a few times but it never really clicked in my brain?
I am glad to hear that you've taken the plunge into studying music and the piano.
Thank you for the information, I was thinking of buying fp 30, but wasn't sure about action ☺️👍🤗😊
Thanks🙌
Was hoping to hear a demo of the speaker outputs, back to back. Have yet to find a video that provides this.
Do these have any additional outputs for hooking up an ipad or all of that is done through the bluetooth? Is is compatible with all of the standard learning apps ?
instablaster...
Well done! Thanks Stu, useful comparison 👍🏼
Key difference you mentioned is on the Pedal: single sustain Fp10 vs 3way compatibility Fp30 - can anyone tell a beginner why this would be important to learning?
I'm absolutely clueless about epiano stuff but it seems like being the dynamic in sustain
Single sustain: press the pedal and you get the same sustain everytime
3way: the more you press, the more sustain, on 3 levels
But again - I don't really know
There is a new fp30. The fp-30x. If people are like me thinking of buying one. I highly suggest waiting. I have not seen a fp-10x but I suppose there will be. But when is the question... Not so after reviewing rolands website stating their new fpx lineup contains the regular fp-10.

You're very welcome! We're so glad to hear that you found the video helpful through your process. :)
Another excellent detailed and honest review. Thank you!
Thank you kindly for tuning in! We're glad you enjoyed it! :)
Can you use the fp-10 with plugins like omnisphere in your daw? And use different sounds like bells and stuff?
Yes! You certainly can. Any MIDI compatible instrument can be used in conjunction with VST plugins or a DAW. :)
really an amazing video to help you make the perfect choice. well done and thank you.
You're very welcome! Thank you so much for tuning in! We appreciate it. :)
Thank you so much for all these informations.
Great!@@MerriamPianos Thanks for lighting me up! I expect to buy it very soon then! Yeah!
Can the FP-10 (or 30) be plugged into an keyboard amplifier or DI into a recording console?
Yes - you can use the headphone output on either piano to use it in conjunction with an amp or recording interface. :)
Merriam Music one question:
Yamaha p45 or Roland fp10
I‘m a beginner and i have no idea which one to buy. people say that roland fp10 sounds better than yamaha but they also say that it has clicking keys.
can you help me? i’ll buy one of them today..
Hi! Brent from Merriam Music here! Without having all of the context behind your decision making process, my lean would in favour of the Roland FP10. For me, it really comes down to the quality of the action. It is a wonderful touch that I personally find to be superior to that of the P45. Thanks and hope this helps! :)
Is there a great difference in sound between fp 10 and 30? I begin with piano and i got no acustic piano
@@xyhmodid you figure this out? I have the same idea of working with it if I will buy the keyboard.
Hi stu can u connect the fp10 to an interface? And external speakers?
Hi! Brent from Merriam Music here! The headphone output can also be used as a line output technically, so that is certainly a possibility. :)
Thank you!
The PHA4 is the better feeling action, but the PHA50 is probably more durable.
Is the fp 10 decent for classical piano?
Yes
Thank you for your review! Do you have to have the app to change the sounds or can you do it directly from the keyboard?
You can change the sounds present on the Instrument directly on it. This is done by pressing & holding the 'Function' button + Key (labelled with a tone name on top of it)

Does the Roland fp10 make clicking noise s after some months?
I have an fp30, love it. Although, it's not compatible with Piano Designer. Not sure how you would connect a triple pedal either, it only has one pedal jack input.
Thanks for this video.
Stu, connecting to Garage Band can't you use some of the backing tracks with the FP10?
Question: when you connect to the piano partner 2 app, does the catalog of sounds become equal btwn the two or are there more for the fp30?
Also Im wondering about it, if t hey have same number of sounds via app, then fp-10 enough for me..
According to this webpage yes, www.pianodreamers.com/roland-fp10-review/ , it says literally:
"However, what I found is that if you access the FP-10 via the Roland Piano Partner 2 app, you can actually access all the sounds from the FP-30, which is pretty cool."
Very good comparrison. Thanks a lot!

So... can you plug the FP-10 Directly into and piano amplifier with one cord? I have a Fender KXR 60 ( Sorry if you covered this, I am new to this stuff and don't understand a lot yet )
Yup! You can take a patch cord from the headphone output of the FP10 to the input of your amplifier. :)

Hello, friend, how did you find out if other additional functions coincide with the FP30?
postscript I'm waiting for my FP10 to be delivered to me;)
Was hoping for sound comparisons
Can someone explain which is better and what is the difference between NUX NPK 10 and Roland FP 10?

Is it still possible to use designer? I'm thinking about about buying FP30 and this is very nice feature to have.
Now if only the FP10 were in stock 🙄
How do you record the audio directly from the piano and use it in this video?
Does anybody know this?

That would be cool
Nice review!
the keys, how do they differ from each other? you made me interested in that one...
@@viggo100 the keys are identical, only Roland FP-30X has more sounds, which are assigned to Bb0-G#1 on NUX, and Roland Bb0-C3 or beyond.
NUX Chip: Dream 5708 DSP with 189 polyphony, 12 instruments
FP-30X Chip: SuperNATURAL with 256 polyphony, 54 instruments
The buttons are identical, but Roland placed them vertically, and NUX horizontally. the rest of the mold is identical, including the dimensions.
The speakers are identical 2x10.5W (sound weak, you need to practice with the headphones, then the sound is pristine on both, I prefer NUX sound, no bias here as I own both)
BTW
I have very good hearing, I measured my ears up to over 20kHz while my friends usually stop hearing sound above 15.5kHz.
Now with bluetooth Midi I have zero noise and my recording sounds like from the professional studio
Can you use the headphone out ports to record audio into a DAW?
If there is a signal OUT - then it can be recorded (basic Physics)... but you may need to put more effort into understanding the technology's sound quality limitations.
I wish I had money

Hi Stu.

It would have been much better if you had taken the time to move the camera and show the apps working.
The fp-10 and the fp-30 are quite different, having the same keyboard action and similar weight does not make them identical.
96 polyphony?! D:
Yes.
I found one one video with FP10, but none with FP30.
Exactly the same question.
Now I have to choose one of them. Mostly I think I am going to buy fp30 since fp10 isn't available.
Can you please tell me which one did you buy?
And have you found an answer for your question?
@@ysh1173 I brought the FP10. You can't use the piano designer app with that, unfortunately.
There’s the new FP30X that replaces the FP30
If only you could play while not talking...
Do they have midi USB port?
Yup! Both of these models have USB MIDI ports. :)
