Elite: Dangerous | Large Black Hole- Mintaka B w/ New Black Hole Effects | Soldin Wuud

- Welcome to the Mintaka System! It's the closest system to Sol with a relatively big black hole. Mintaka B weighs in at 37.6 Solar Masses! That's the largest I've seen so far and the light warping is so much stronger. Still trying to make my videos the best quality and hopefully the changes I made will fix that!
Due to the bug in Elite that doesn't let me search, I had to look at a constellation chart and compare the stars with known locations with Sol until I found this little jewel of a system. Worth the small effort by far! I'll be sure to upload videos on any special, unique, or strange systems. Well I hope to see you again soon Commanders! - Ігри
And now you're comming back to your family.... that died 300,000,000,000 years ago.
Good job sir.
The universe didn't exist 300 billion years ago...
+There is No Need To Be Upset You did'nt get it...
Tertion Nope.
I was refering to the fact that if you could go "trought" a Black Hole and it singularity, even if it took second for you, billions of years would have passed for the rest of the universe due to time dilation (basicaly, the time slow down as you approach a black hole and nearly stop when you pass his event horizon.
Tertion Oh I thought you were making some reference to something where you go back in time 300 billion years
Ay, no fighting. Not everyone understands all the things we think we know about black holes.
It's the internet...populated with people who refuse acknowledge the fantasy of video games and think they know stuff and people who don't know anything.
Annoying yes...all sane people can do is just ignore it.
SevMen TV When you get out of the black hole area and the galaxy fades away with the calm music, damn that was beautiful.
SevMen TV Would still be cool if the Black Holes actually swallowed you if you got too close and completely crushed you. There could be like a tool or something that you could purchase that would allow you to surf Black Holes. It would make Elite Dangerous even more Dangerous.
+Oledengamle While this would be kinda cool, you have to remember this is a simulator. Black holes don't necessarily "suck" things into them. We don't really know enough about black holes to determine what would happen when you reach the singularity (the center). As far as we know, you might pop out somewhere else in space, or into a different universe. What we do know is that once you cross the event horizon (the edge of the black hole) there is no coming back. Instead of it looking like you were being sucked in, the object crossing the event horizon would appear to freeze in place and slowly fade into nothing. Another thing, if you were to actually cross the event horizon yourself, something strange would happen. Your body, or ship in this case would be pulled towards the singularity, making you stretch out. This is called Spaghettification (Yes, that's the real word for it). Black holes are probably one of the most interesting things in the universe in my opinion
+MindFreaksLetsPlays Unless, of course, you live in a video game that lets you travel at speeds measured by speed-of-light units ;D
I remember I found a black hole by accident and I was a noob...ah scared the shit out of Me but it was majestic AF
Impressive. Interesting that they made them escaplable tbh.
I'd expect it to be unescapable. Trippy as heck though :D good flight there
+vkmicro FTL drive would allow anything to escape a black hole. The only issue is that nothing can go faster than light :P
+Rowan Cravey yeah good point indeed. :D
I feel having the light that is seen travelling into the black hole to be blue-shifted would be really cool. It would definitely add somewhat to the realism. Then again, it does not really matter since I don't play this game.
There isn't really any gravity in Elite, for convenience sake, yes the music is in game, and if you manage to impact while going at high speeds then you'll do the emergency drop from supercruise where you spin around a little and take some damage. Thanks for asking questions and thanks for supporting my video so much!
there is gravity.
Man, Black Holes terrify me.
With good reason.
True cosmic horror
How are ships mass locked near space stations but not supermassive black holes?
+asm379 It's all relative. Also, there is an exclusion zone that your ship will not let you passed. Presumably that could be the mass lock zone, and since it's not a station, it's unsafe so the ship will not pass it. He's also more than 35 times further away from the black hole than you are from a station when you pass the mass lock distance.
I also think moons slow you down in supercruise way more than they should compared to say... a star. A star filling 30° of my field of view will slow me down wayy less than a moon filling the same area, and I mean relative to the body, so I can do a circle around the star faster than I could around the moon.
+Razer1103 Yeah, considering how badly a moon or even a start slows you down, a black hole should just yank you out of supercruise and NOM you from a couple dozen light seconds away :V
Neltharak Idrissil only if you cross the event horizon at which point you are truely trapped
Better question. How does your ship handle gravity 150KM from black hole while it cannot hadle 3G on planets.
this is not supermassive
sagittarius a is
this is 37 solar masses sagittarius is 500 000 000
Scariest thing to exist.
You sir, have not heard of vacuum decay, have you?
"Vacuum decay is the ultimate ecological catastrophe. Not only is life as we know it impossible, so is chemistry."
I really want the developers to make something happen when you go through a black hole, maybe teleport to the other side of the galaxy where another is waiting( with spectacular effects, cooler than the warping effects), or maybe even go to another galaxy if they ever add another. It would also be cool if parts of your "past" played out as your going through, and maybe a few glimpses into a "future" war between the imperials and federation.
just no
Oeps Body exclusion zone hit.
thats a let down.
So BH in ED are totally safe to aproge.
Black "holes" are not holes in the space but truly solid objects (usually tiny about tens of Km diameter for stellar mass black holes) and a ship would not pass through. It would be spaghetti approaching the event horizon.
Dee-Jay spaghettifacation doesn't occur outside of the event horizon, only after you cross it and start moving towards the singularity.
As far as I "know" ... is depends if we have to deal with a stellar mass BH or a super-massive BH. Unless I am wrong ...
Dee-Jay Quit saying you know what a black hole is. All we have are theories and pictures. The truth is that nobody has a fucking clue of what a black hole really is.
... and some people even believe in a supreme god. But pragmatically and mathematics apart, you are right.
Dee-Jay there is a God my man, the day will come when you are near death, God is who you will cry out to. There is a living God
Watching someone getting closer and closer to a black hole and seeing the reactions of the ship and space all around creeps me out to no end.
First thing ever in the universe to escape the event horizon 😂
The ships can already warp into hyperspace so the ships can definitely escape a black hole.
I’m not ballsy enough to fly right into the Event Horizon even though I know nothing will happen
Why isn't this game getting the hype like No mans sky!?? This game is what No Mans Sky should have been
"hype" depends on finances and marketing. it's 2021 bruh
140 km to blackhole? WTF?
Урлабан Володя It's relatively tiny. Just relatively heavy at the same time.
doomhorse FSD warps space.. it protected him from the gravitational forces.. or at least that's what I'm saying to keep from breaking my own immersion.
Mmm, spaceship spaghetti!
where's the book shelves?
if I had a super power...it would be to make control and not be devoured by black holes...because that would be terrifying, super speed? nah black hole :D super strength? black hole! physically indestructible? sweet! but your not going anywhere and you might suffer from slight discomfort...
The Pompadoursman and destroy everything around you and be left completely alone in the universe? No thanks
@@namdupper what do you mean alone in the universe? sun orbits a black hole of 500 000 solar masses
that time dilation from the insane gravity must be ridiculous.
What a game, that was pretty cool. Hey maybe its not 100% accurate, but the effect was still incredibly immersive. The sounds, music, graphics and light warping is just awesome
+Octen They are still updating it these past few updates and stuff you're ship will overheat and explode if you get to close to a black hole. I am thinking that is a place holder and will do the real thing sooner or later.
+bakuya99
actually that's a theory regarding black holes. all the light is trapped just beyond the event horizon. burns you up
GunRecon 11 That was the oversight when i posted this yeah black holes would be very hot.
Nice video. I'll be sure to check out the rest!
So essentially nothing happens. You just get stuck as the edge like with planets before horizons?
yes.
In theory, wouldn't months or even years passed by you doing that?
kinda yeah
I remember me and my little brother playing this both going to out first black hole hiding in the peleides (typo im sure) nebula, we found it alright... and proceeded to bounce off of it like it was a trampoline (driving straight into its “core” since it cant just eat you)
Too many pseudo intellectuals in the comment section who think they actually know about physics.
i t s a

To everyone who fears black holes, its only natural. Humans fear what they don’t understand, I personally an fascinated and terrified of them.
Very cool!
Did Murph let you leave??
+GunRecon 11
*"MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURPH!!!!!!"*
That was awesome bro. 👍
Achievement unlocked: In and out of the Abyss...
EPIC
You could use it as a natural telescopeof sorts, if you can stand the radiation and avoid touching the black ball, the event horizon.
Closest thing I've seen to a blackhole in a video game, amazing....Did he just escape the blackhole attraction at event horizon ?!!!
no, its the fsd bending space
Long way to go in a Cobra, props!
It looked like you were approaching death when you approached the black hole...
well he was
Why didn't your ship explode? You entered a BLACK HOLE!
he didnt enter it.. just got really close at the point where light is orbiting around the black hole. You are actually seeing light from all directions as you are flying away from it.
EvOLvED-_T3RROR You cant enter a black hole, its not technically a "hole". It could be accurate to say you can crash into it, but as we know the physics and time and space itself gets fucked up near the "surface", so yeah... Enough to say you cant enter it nor crash into it. :D
EvOLvED-_T3RROR You can't fly into one.. I tried hard for my recent video, but you're stuck at the "exclusion zone" which acts like a force field and keeps you from moving any further.
TheChiconspiracy That's because, theoretically, time slows down as you enter a black hole. Even to the point to where it seems to stand still. To an outside observer, you would stretch out. Maybe even turn red, a process called "spaghettification." Of course, it's all a theory. No one actually knows what would happen.
Drayton Bates No.. to the objecting moving into a black hole, time passes normally. There is literally an invisible forcefield around the blackhole that prevents you from moving into it... that is not at all how they work in reality.
Cooper? Cooper! Coooooper!
If black holes could act like worm holes... that'd be great.
+kurz333 You don't need wormholes in this game -- it's got hyperdrives.
sootheater- it it sorta new with the update and i do not think that this game follows models for black holes under general and special relativity. It sorta looks similar, but in Elite its all visual
So you entered the event horizon and used the FSD to escape? Neat
+Muddy Fudger Actually, no. The Schwarzschild-radius of an object with one solar mass is around 3 km. Since it grows linearly with the added mass, an object with around 40 solar masses would have a Schwarzschild-radius of about 120km. The closest he got before bouncing off was 148km.
So no, he didn't enter it.
You cannot enter a black hole since it isn't a hole, it's a sphere.
Aaron Harrington It's not a sphere, it's a gravity well without a solid mass. You can enter a black hole the same way you enter the gravity well for any other large mass, you just won't hit a solid mass
Can't wait till this launches on PS4.
Fucking things make my skin crawl
I wonder how the game presents the slow in time that occurs when you get near the event horizon.
Sam Li It wouldn't have an effect on you. You always perceive time as going by at "normal" speed. It's everyone else that would see you seem to move in slow motion. It's also almost impossible to make that work. If you can explain how you could let Player A see Player B moving slower while Player B still experiences things at the same speed.. then every Nobel prize in physics for the rest of time should be shared with you.
RurikLoderr What they could do, is as soon as player A enters the time dilation boundary, they enter an "instanced" version of the area, the game then replicates "ghost npc" versions of both players, and replays their actions at different rates to each player in their own instances, so it would appear both players are moving at different time-frames.
The only way to "re-sync" would be to leave the entire area with supercruise, where you would meet up with "future black hole guy".
would you want your game to freeze
How new is this effect? It looks like it was borrowed from Kip Thorn's model (the one used in the movie Interstellar) ;P
interstellar bh was eating a star.
this is bending the light from the milky way
Did you saw the black hole's disc while leaving it?
it doesn't have one. the ''disk'' is part of a star getting ripped apart by the bh. elite doesn't have those
someone should go visit Holmberg 15a, supposedly something like 80-300 billion solar masses. Dunno where it is though and having never played elite dangerous, no idea how long it would take to reach... the event horizon would be like 200 times the size of pluto's orbit though
I'm heading in that direction now, just 700 million light years to go. :D
You can't since we are bound to explore the Milkyway galaxy only. Holmberg 15A is in another galaxy 700,000,000 light years from earth. It's diameter is 15,000 light years which means that it would take up most of the milkyway galaxy (Which is 26,000 light years in diameter)
damn now thats one massive black hole
Why spaceships have no mirrors? Wouldn't be cool xD
:P
and the whole time Im thinking, BWWWWAAAAAAA
this kind of games are awesome!!!!!!!!!
estimate arival time after he dropped 13:37 nice (at 2:35)
Next time can you go into it fully?
How can black holes be harmless? i like this game but this makes me sad, I flew into one and thought it was a bug that I survived and searched some videos and you tell me its not a bug its a feature?!
why does your fuel consumption vary so.
Surface of it is quite glossy!
the bh is invisible. you can see the disturbance it makes though
So when you get too close to the black hole the frame shift drive shoots you away from it?
StanleySGG no, the player can choose to just sit there in the danger zone if they want. The ship computer stops the player from colliding with objects like planets etc, while in super cruise.
So when trying to engage super cruise in a black hole/near a star, it will only engage when you aim towards the "escape vector" (opposite direction to the object)
im not sure if you can fly into the black hole, probably not.
So you enter a black hole and you just go out like that .....that's so realistic lol :D
he didnt enter it
i whas near a black hole in supercruise and see stars moving and its getting slow
the bh bends space and light. thus the effect
Damn scary af
Did.. he escape from the event horizon
no
did you went in the black holes
no
so if I get this for the Xbox version, I can do this let's just say...or see this exact black hole
+Kevin Anthony
Yes.
So what do black holes do if caught inside them?
stretch you, stop time, fuck up the laws of physics, and disintegrate you into atoms
stay dadyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Yep, i have spacephobia ;-;
so your ship drops you out of supercruise if you get too close.. but what does it look like if you go too fast and cant drop?
benniebees It drops you anyway, and deals damage to your ship !
can you get instantly destroyed if you drop when going at say max speed .. is it 300c?
benniebees 1500C, no. You'll lose 2% hull, speed doesn't matter.
Unless you're
how dafuq would you ever reach 1500c xD you need a really big system for that.
benniebees I actually had the glass from the cockpit rip out once.... that was fun lol
Doesn't time get distorted as well?
+HUinstinct Light around the event horizon would seem to stop completely. So yes...it looks like time has stopped inside the black hole.
+NikeySunfire Time doesn't stop once you pass the Event Horizon. It would only slow progressively more and more. At the Singularity, well, who the fuck knows at that point? Laws of physics fall apart at the point of a Singularity.
hello, 31/01/2019, 23:15, warning!
MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURPH!!
What happens in this game if you fly right into one? (past EH)
Lady Scattergun As far as I can see noithing yet... heck sometimes I dont get heat damage when I get close to some suns but when I supercruise out I will get the heat damage
David Wilson Weird. Still looks really neat as it is though. Have they put in any landing features yet? (Land on the planets)
Lady Scattergun not yet but I would love to see what they have in mind for things like that, might make my trading job a bit easier.
can't
@@DarkNecronLord sc runs hot
I avoid to visit in Mintaka B. NEVER!
hey can we use weapons in the game?
yes
hello, need you!!!
Is this music ingame?
***** Yes it is.
***** I love playing this game with my headset so I can hear the music nicely
yes
I can't understand the game
why
how did you not dies
BRs
4:11 yo whats up with that? Why is it that you see the center just back out so quickly. It's bizarre.
its the light from behind the black hole circulating around it into you
I remember I found a black hole by accident and I was a noob...ah scared the shit out of Me but it was majestic AF
