Watch this instructional video to learn how to install the car side of Air Force One supplemental braking system!
    --------------------------
Demco's Air Force One supplemental braking system is a truly innovative, one-of-a-kind standard for its industry. With safety and efficient design in mind, it’s the only air brake that meets DOT and chassis regulations. Air Force One’s straightforward application makes it ideal for cars and motorhomes without the hassle of pulleys, catches or springs. Air Force One (AFO) is the only supplemental braking system that includes the necessary components to meet Total Coach Protection safety regulations. With no moving parts (pulleys, catches, or springs) to wear out, your AFO will stand the test of time. It is the only air brake system that energizes the towed vehicle’s power brakes through a patented process that doesn’t require an electronic vacuum pump. It uses a pilot signal from the coach's air brake system to deliver 100% direct proportional braking. And in the event of a separation of the coach and towed vehicle, AFO is the first and only supplemental brake system that seals the coach’s air supply. Chassis manufacturers agree that AFO is the safest and most secure way of using coach air for supplemental braking. It meets all chassis warranty requirements and the chassis brake warranty won’t be voided by chassis manufacturers. The AFO fits every car and motorhome. A breakaway is integrated.

What about theory? There wasn't a diagram or animation to show how it actually works. How does the coach brake air pressure work to create a vacuum in the toad's brake diaphragm? Is there a vacuum pump in the box to do that?

This video shows the actuator as it comes out of the box with the cable coming directly out of the end of the cylinder. In my case, the cable is now broken with a short 1.5 inch length of cable extending from the firewall bracket. There is no cable extending from the back of the actuator cylinder, so I assume the cable broke at the point where the cable enters the end of the actuator cylinder. I recommend owners of this system check that length of cable between the firewall and the actuator cylinder to make sure it is not broken or frayed. I discovered this broken cable when troubleshooting my red LED indicator light not turning off.

Cable breakage can only occur if there is an improper angle or if the cable is overtightened in the anchor. Review this step carefully after the cylinder is mounted to ensure proper installation. Also make sure there is a minimum 3-1/2” - 4” between the end of the cylinder and the anchor when brake pedal is released.
